Shorter MSNBC: Voter I.D. Laws Are Racist, Even Though They Seem Perfectly Logical

If a legally entitled voter is too stupid to have official identification, regardless or race or skin tone, he's plainly too stupid to vote.

Voter ID IS logical, and EVEN Rhode Island which is as Democratic/Liberal as it can be
thought so! That is why they passed their own Voter ID law.....lol.....

There is some evidence that such laws are racist in their effect...but I'm reserving judgment on that for now (note - the law itself can be considered racist and not indicate anything about whether it was intended to be or whether the people who support it are. Racist in this context is the most clinical type of racism).

But I don't really think they're logical when it comes to registered voters. I understand fraudulent registration of voters is a problem - but fix the registration so that it's more stringent then. Then you don't end up excluding valid voters because they lost or forgot their IDs, etc.

I have to show an ID when I donate blood, so what makes showing an ID to vote such a big deal? How is it racist?

Let me get this straight, the laws being passed overwhelmingly effect people of color but you don't see how they can be viewed as racist particularly when the evidence of voter fraud is flimsy at best.

Good! I think more posters should protect participants from abuse on their polls like that. In fact, I would go so far as to say we have a responsibility to block trolls attacking people who are participating on our polls in good faith.

If your viewpoint cannot stand against the light of reality or someone posting a clipping from a news article, perhaps you should reexamine how you think.

The laws do not overwhelmingly effect "people of color." The laws overwhelmingly effect every single voter regardless of his color, which is not a factor.

Let me get this right.....you can't or don't want to prove that you are a legitimately registered voter but you want to be able to decide how my taxes will be collected and spent? That's racist?
