Wow, someone on Fox News actually has an original thought, and it is not about how Muslim Obama is. He is very right, and he is probably also already out of a job for this statement.

In the same way we look at people who opposed interracial marriage, people years from now will look at people who opposed gay marriage.

Any denial of equal rights, privileges, and protection is wrong. It's called bigotry and we seem to have an entrench cadre in this country that love it for it's own sake, when they couldn't get black people the way they used to, and get others to support their irreligious venom, they decided to target women, gay people and any other group they could spew their hate toward.

I am absolutely amazed how far America has come on this issue in such a short period of time. It all started in 1969 at Stonewall, when it was finally acknowledged that gay people are not suffering from a mental illness. When we started finding out that some of our friends were gay (in my case, a close friend from college 12 years after graduation), we realized that it does not make any difference. He is a close friend. Then came the social media and the polls constantly reflect that attitudes are shifting in favor of gay marriage. Ten years from now, we will wonder what the fuss was all about?

Right and wrong side of history? It is ironic that by definition the "right" side is the republican side. Hence, the wrong side is the gay left side. But I'm wondering why less than 2 percent of the population is to dictate the definition of marriage. But more importantly we have an economy that is traveling in a New Russian Sukhoi SuperJet 100 and we are discussing the definition of a term. Perhaps next the President will come out with a new mathematical definition of 2+2. Or perhaps we can change the definition of debt -- to mean surplus and then we can praise the president again on a non issue. And simply because Shep said something that agrees with liberal ideology is not the first such liberal view Smith has had.

50 years from now, the children and grandchildren of those who opposed gay marriage will either be laughing at them behind their backs or trying to hide their shame. It's no different from the way we now feel about our elders who supported segregation and Jim Crow laws.

Individuals have core beliefs. You don't change them daily. True Christians do not flip flop on the issues pertaining to gay marriage or abortion. The Bible is written in black and white not grey.

Technically it IS written in grey, because it was translated from its original form.... oh hell this is a whole other discussion.

Christians flip-flopped over their support of slavery, which they had justified with the bible. They also justified not allowing women to vote with the bible, then flip-flopped. And they justified banning interracial marriage with the bible, and then flip-flopped.

Not to mention the biggest flip-flop in Christian history, which is when they ordered a new translation of the bible and split the Christian church in half because there was a huge disagreement over allowing divorce.

Don't worry, in 50 years, Christian churches will be performing gay marriages, and will have figured out a way to interpret the bible so that you'll all be comfortable believing it is God's will. Churches and religions have a way of doing that when their finances are on the line.

Using the word Christians is very vague. Your president call himself a Christian who supports gay marriage and abortion. Just because you say your a Christian does not make you one.

You must first read the Bible before you can understand the Bible. It is written in black and white and not shades of grey as this society thinks.

You may have read the Bible from cover to cover but you sure have no clue on what you have read. Let me enlighten you a little:

Genesis 9:6 "Whoever sheds man's blood, By man his blood shall be shed, For in the image of God He made man."

God gave the law and penalty for murder (described as the shedding of "man's blood"). Therefore, God considers blood to be the basis for life and the shedding of human blood, which results in death, to be murder.

Marraige is not for government to sanction. There should be such a thing as civil unions! I think and always will that gay is a choice not that there is not a predisposition in some to be more masculine or feminine in either gender but is a choice like an animal. I respect all people and have had friends of the gay persuasion and they are fantastic people no different than anyone else but I am and always will be against Gay marraige. It is not even close to comparing to civil rights.

I agree. Civil Unions for the people who do not read the bible or believe in God. They want it all. Mr and Mr. Mrs. and Mrs. It is something that can be bred into people, you know the kid who's mom wanted a girl and dressed her son as a girl. Dad's who wanted a sports hero and dressed his daughter as a boy. If they are treated this way as youth, they stay this way. Also molested chldren get totally confused and don't know what they are. There are some who are gay, but most are just confused.
