Last week, we asked if you thought Serena Williams would be the new comeback kid at Wimbledon. Well, it looks like those hopeful predictions are over -- because Williams has officially been eliminated from the tennis competition.

Williams’s loss to Marion Bartoli ended a comeback for the defending champion, who missed most of the past year because of various health problems.

She may be out of the competition now, but Williams had a pretty good track record before the defeat. She fought off three match points and one other in a tie-breaker before losing to Bartoli.

Are you sad to see Serena Williams go?

The sisters could help themselves by a better training program to stay away from injuries and getting back to the game with less distractions like their clothing lines.

Sad? Nah. She'll be back. Maybe it was just too soon after her health problems, but she's talented and powerful, and we surely have not seen the last of her.

That said, I'm really not a fan. As much as I respect her tennis abilities, I find her flamboyance annoying. Wear normal clothes, lady, and leave the bling off the court.

She is one of our greatest athletes and has been very ill. She did well for someone who had been out of competion for so long. She will be back. The haters are always there. She justneeds to keep on keeping on.

Not sad to see them eliminated now because I know they'll be back. They were both injured for a long time. I didn't expect they'll to get to the finals on their first return. But they'll get to the top again before they retire.

Not really - Sports is the greatest, and about the only endeavor left where the undisputed best rises to the top. When the Williams sisters were winning I was happy for them, but now that somebody else is winning, I am happy for them too.

I would've been more disappointed if she had won after the year she had...or didn't have. She hardly played all year. If she would've won, it would've shown that the competition was lame.

She's one of the top ranking in this sport but, nothing is permanent in this arena. No matter how good a Tennis player you are, there's always someone new and better than you. Best of luck, Serena!

Why _should_ I care? Professional athletes of any kind mean absolutely nothing to me. Sure, maybe *heh* they're people, but apart from that, they and their lives are big zeros with the rims kicked off as far as I'm concerned.

(Rabbit trail: But then, that's how I regard 99%+++ of celebrities. Very few have led lives that have any real meaning or relevance to life as I know it. I just wish I could also say that about politicians *gag-spew* If they and the bureaucraps they spawn would just get OUT of my life, then I could view them as irrelevant scum, off somewhere away from me.)
