the best answer to this question is do you honestly think that if Romney had NOT paid his taxes that the IRS which currently answers to Barack Obama would not be all over him?
Yes the IRS doesn't need to ask him for his Tax records because they already have them.
Not only is it a stunt but worse is people are stupid enough to fall for it.

Well here's a way of getting Romney to release his tax records: accuse him of not paying taxes for 10 years. The heat is getting turned up on Mitt Romney to release his tax records. The claim seems to be outrageous and inflammatory, but may in fact be true. We won't know the real truth unless Romney releases historical tax records. Is Senator Reid right -- or is this all just a political stunt?

FOXNEWS.COM reports:
Mitt Romney called on Harry Reid Tuesday to reveal the source for his claim that the Republican presidential candidate has not paid taxes for 10 years, stepping up pressure as two major fact-check sites ruled Reid had no basis for the incendiary allegation.

The point you are missing is Harry Reid made this up. Otherwise his reliable source would be cited. Why wouldn't he cite his "reliable" source? Taxes paid are not confidential in any way. Someone has some type of documentation that shows Romney did not pay taxes, it's perfectly fine for them to make it public. Fact is, Harry Reid knows this game. All he has to do is float it out there and a million minions like you will just with it. It doesn't matter if it's true, moral, or ethical. You don't give a damn, you're just running with it. Accepting a completely unsubstantiated accusation like this and putting your moral values on the line is kinda stupid. It will bite you in the butt.
When Reid comes out with something tangible which would give Romney a chance to defend the accusation, then we got something to debate. As it is, what Reid did was blatantly immoral and unethical. Using something like that to question the victim's morals or ethics is even more immoral.
If this man has nothing to hide why would he spend over a million dollars to keep his records sealed? He has even said he was not an American in a speech he made in 2007 http://www.youtube.com/watch?...
Here is another instance in 2004
