Sen. Harry Reid Says Romney Hasn't Paid Any Taxes in 10 Years: Stunt or Truth?

Well here's a way of getting Romney to release his tax records: accuse him of not paying taxes for 10 years. The heat is getting turned up on Mitt Romney to release his tax records. The claim seems to be outrageous and inflammatory, but may in fact be true. We won't know the real truth unless Romney releases historical tax records. Is Senator Reid right -- or is this all just a political stunt?

FOXNEWS.COM reports:
Mitt Romney called on Harry Reid Tuesday to reveal the source for his claim that the Republican presidential candidate has not paid taxes for 10 years, stepping up pressure as two major fact-check sites ruled Reid had no basis for the incendiary allegation.

the best answer to this question is do you honestly think that if Romney had NOT paid his taxes that the IRS which currently answers to Barack Obama would not be all over him?

Yes the IRS doesn't need to ask him for his Tax records because they already have them.

Not only is it a stunt but worse is people are stupid enough to fall for it.

Given the data, I would say not only has Romney engaged in obscene levels of non-payment of taxes (i.e., tax fraud), but we also appear to have a Higgs boson.

No one is going after the Governor. He's just not doing what everyone else has done.
It has put the right in an uncomfortable position. (Don't answer here) but wouldn't it have been easier on his supporters if he had released them. Even you have to wonder how he made 250 Million dollars. All previous candidates have. Republicans and Democrats.

How can Harry Reid prove this? It's illegal for Harry Reid to have his hands on someone's personal tax records. It's also illegal for anyone to avoid paying taxes, and if Romney was avoiding taxes, don't you think the IRS would be after him?

If Harry Reid has his hands on Romney's tax records without approval, then he should be arrested! Look at this video...

I believe Harry Reid heard it from what he feels is a reliable source. He's not saying he did anything illegal, just that he didn't pay. Romney probably got a lot of loopholes or deferments or didn't pay on offshore accounts. He can clear it up by releasing his taxes.

The 2010 election meant something! A change in direction... Apparently, neither Harry Reid nor the White House seemed to have received that memo!

It's time we sent them another message this November: That their brand of National self-loathing, Socialist, Communist, Progressive Liberal agenda is NOT popular with REAL Americans and shall NOT stand for very long!

The Kennedy Democrat is extinct and all that's left are the fringe who wish for government to hand them their lives on a silver platter! Sorry, but have you read any of that in the Constitution? I haven't!

However, if they wish to challenge that assumption—and I hope they do—to prove me wrong by living up to their much vaunted trait of “tolerance,” then I certainly welcome the opportunity to share a new paradigm of thought with you. If my views read in your head with crystal clarity, it is only because I stand on the broad shoulders of those whose meticulously detailed scholarship came before me.

It’s time we citizens asked a very pertinent question for our time, “What qualifies those who’ve shaped our current world view?” The jaded members of the Fourth Estate? The Hollywood elites? Mysterious Hedge fund billionaires with an agenda? Aloof politicians too wrapped up in their own self-importance to remember who they work for? They’ve all had their opportunity to grace the front pages the New York Times (and our own version of the Times, the News Journal) with their carefully orchestrated version of what our country should be. Now it’s time for a reality check—and a wake-up call from a private citizen who can, apparently, do something they’ve not been able to do… READ!

The defining characteristics of who we are as a nation have been forgotten and are now lost in the public consciousness. And those of us who wish to bring what was forgotten back to the forefront of 21st century debate are looked upon with scornful disdain for even considering the concept of founding principles. When the concept of living up to the principles that made us the most powerful economic nation in the world is considered “backward-looking,” we have a problem!

I would imagine if the country is willing to place their trust in a failed community organizer enough to vest him with the awesome power of the Presidency of the United States, my humble contribution to the cannon of civil debate should be a refreshing change to those of us who were kept in the dark by the “orchestrated press.”

So how is it that our opinions and world view are shaped by the “press?” The evidence of this is abundantly contained in Bob Kohn’s brilliant treatise on The New York Times. Suffice to say there are a plethora of writers on staff at any given newspaper in the country and the Times has its share of writers in its pool. But in his book, Journalistic Fraud, Kohn exposes the specific tactics employed by the editorial staff of the Times demonstrating their “practice of distorting its news pages to reflect its ideological opinions.” The techniques Kohn discusses can easily be applied to the “usual suspects” of the Left-leaning print press and—with equal precision—DNC-TV (and our own News Journal).

And they can certainly get away with it if we take no action. If we don’t call out the purveyors of propaganda on their tactics—the dream will die. No longer can the breeze of a free voice sound its knell across any medium. That ‘voice’ must now be tinged with a decidedly “Statist” viewpoint, acceptable only to the group formerly known as the “mainstream” media.

Opposition, no longer tolerated, is savagely crushed by those loyal to the oligarchy rather than country. If intimidation through their sympathetic armies of followers can't do the trick, legislation—the constitutionality of which is dubious—shall be thrust to the fore. (Have the Barons of the Beltway not already done so via Obamacare?)

The battle lines drawn, this new civil war has been joined at several key fronts; Most notably through baseless partisan accusations of racism where none exists, within academia through overwhelmingly liberal educators where previous terrorists, now educators are lauded (William Ayers at the University of Chicago), to the press, who cheerfully disseminate misinformation from omissions of facts to out and out lies, without any thought given to consequence or worse, citing their sources.

The first salvos, albeit confined to ink and paper, have given way to action and becoming more prevalent as evidenced on the National Mall on 8/28/10 and 9/12/10. The Restore Honor Rally and the Taxpayer March on Washington were indicative of a resurgence of responsible citizenship, not of Right-Wing hate as alleged by the Left. They were gatherings of average Americans all across the nation tired of the mischaracterizations, the pompous arrogance, out of control spending not in accord with Constitutional limitation and the propaganda of this out of control Democrat-Led government. And our friends in the media STILL don’t get it, thus they ignored the substance of the most powerful stories of the year!

Decried by those responsible for reporting, rather than becoming the news, a growing consciousness is taking hold in a gradually awakening electorate as mounting evidence of reporters’ collusion becomes painfully obvious to the most casual observer.

As our esteemed members of the fourth estate become less credible in the eyes (and ears) of a skeptical nation, the chorus of brave patriots in opposition is growing exponentially and much to the surprise and panic of the 435, the 100 and the one!

The career politician was never the brainchild of any founder of this nation. All documentary evidence to this fact have laid this argument bare for all “open-minded” students of America’s political history. Yet, all too often the complacent American electorate became too comfortable taking the road most traveled and prefer to rubber-stamp candidates on name recognition alone.

It is because of this phenomenon our nation is saddled with political dynasties such as the Roosevelts, the Kennedys, the Bushes, the Bidens, and the Clintons. When will it ever end?

There are 306 million people in the U.S. and out of that multitude of talent, why are we relegated to only a handful of families whose political avarice warrants the rubber-stamp of We the People?

“People do what they do because they believe there are no consequences for doing otherwise.”

I have scoured our founding documents and find no precedent for political parties, caucuses, or even a reason for them other than to generate a label upon which to hang a set of like-traits, beliefs, or characteristics to a given group of people.

It is owing to this grouping that the term platform holds no further meaning. All that needs to be brought to the argument is one of two symbols; an elephant or a donkey. It’s a sad commentary when a representation of either symbol, originally brought forth in the pages of Harpers Weekly, is enough to draw the inspiration or ire of the electorate, rather than the issues!

Unfortunately for the American voter, these two identities have become so polarized—and more importantly non-representative of the average citizen—that they have alienated themselves from the populace. They both have become so intransigent and non-responsive to their constituency that they have, in fact, become the acme of elitism.

So far removed from the average American, these politicians have become a corrupt caricature beholden to those creatures inside the beltway; the lobbyist, the special interest group, the Hollywood left, and the soft-money PACs whose monarch string puller is none other than the elusive hedge-fund billionaire George Soros.

More and more people are “clinging to their” principles and saying, enough is enough! Our country is no longer for sale!

Let them contribute all of their money to these corrupt officials! The most powerful force in our country is not them, it’s YOU! It’s We the People!
2010 was a watershed event in American political history since you, the citizen voters decided to take appropriate action for true solutions to our nation’s problems.

We’ve already started serving notice to all incumbents that their seats are no longer secure! Mike Castle’s demise here in Delaware is but the first of many. Every last one of the old guard politicians shall be replaced by others eminently more qualified to take their ‘privileged’ (not rightful) place at the seat of power! Elected by and for We the People!

This is much more that a contest of wills or ideologies but rather a tipping point has been reached for the right for the country’s citizens to decide the course our nation sets.

Should its course be that heading set by its founders? Or should we surrender that decision to those benevolent souls who have our best interests at heart?

The current power brokers, those with control of the helm, dare to pilot the country’s course toward the troubled waters of Socialism with all the known dangers it entails. The storm is fierce and predictable. The pattern of the storm always reveals itself from genesis to revelation.

The arm-chair citizen can no longer sit idly by and allow the particular friends of Government Control and Dependence to generate such a storm designed to increase their powers and limit yours! The preambles to the Constitution, the Bill of Rights as well as the document that secured our birth as a nation, the Declaration of Independence, all extol the power of the People over Government.
The source document for the “Statist” is none of these, but a manifesto penned by a mid-19th century German philosopher.

It is my contention that anyone who felt compelled to hurl a solid object through their 52 inch LCD flat screen after watching this gut-churning diatribe spewed with impunity would have the passion—and judging from their restraint, the ability—to articulate what’s painfully obvious to all with common sense: We’re being systematically lied to in order to support a destructive agenda!

Democrats had their shot at fixing the economy! And like it or not, THEY’VE been in charge since 2007 (Congress) and 2009 (Executive) and the only thing they’ve succeeded in doing is the opposite of what they promised: To drain the swamp of corruption; to act bi-partisan; to live in a post racial America; to keep unemployment below 8 percent; to turn the economy around; and the most despicable violation of trust, to purposefully ignore their oaths of office to, “preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution.”

    It’s time to VOTE DIFFERENTLY!

What am I missing here? All the pundits are demanding the release of Romney's tax returns to prove he has paid past taxes; this after an accusation by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (a pissant little liberal weasel ) who made this libelous allegation from the floor of the Senate chamber because he cannot be held accountable for it. Isn't this the United States where people are held to be innocent until proven guilty? The burden of proof lies with the accuser not the accused so it's incumbent upon Reid to provide the proof. If I were Romney I'd tell Reid to go to hell in no uncertain terms.
