I don't know if I've ever come across a blog post more 'right on the money' than one from Anglachel at Anglachel's Journal this morning (posted last night). Here, in part, is what she had to say about our candidate:

She Just Keeps Winning

Huzzah, she did it again!

Win, that is, by an incredible margin. A 36 point margin and more than 2-1 votes. All that despite being written off by the media, outspent by the other campaign, and continually told that she's losing, no one wants to see her go on, and all that malarkey.

I look at these numbers and I begin to understand why the RBC was willing to embarrass themselves to reduce her delegate count through 50% reductions and to sell their very honor down the river to scrounge up more delegates for The Precious - they knew Hurricane Hillary was winding up out in the Caribbean.
[...]
If you had asked me two months ago on whether the defection (vote for McCain) or abstention (Do not cast vote) numbers would be as high as are reported in the exit polls, I would have said not even close. Now, however, I'm not so sure. While I do think they will drop and you would see more numbers for each candidate, I think the Hillary supporters really are furious enough that statistically significant numbers of them will defect or abstain in November. The crude favoritism of the DNC for Obama, the ham-fisted attempts to rearrange the votes to bring about the desired outcome, the aggression and contempt shown towards Hillary as a person and candidate and towards her supports are all hardening attitudes towards Obama in a way I would not have predicted back in December, or even as late as mid-February.

Hillary, of course, is being a class act towards Obama himself and even more so towards his constituents. She stopped some people who tried to boo Obama during her victory speech today. The first words she spoke, after thanking the voters, were about party solidarity and winning in November. She has always placed the burden of earning Obama supporters' votes squarely on her own shoulders, and has pledged that she will personally go to these groups throughout the nation, listen to their concerns and do her best to earn their support. She'll let the party operatives and campaign opponents have it if they do her wrong, but she never, ever criticizes the voters.

It also tickles me pink to see pictures of Hillary having a blast down in Puerto Rico:

After all she has had to put up with, the smears, the heckling, the hate and death threats from bloviating TV hacks, the unrelenting drumbeat of negativity and fear from detractors who don't have a concrete constructive thing to say about their own candidate, she deserved to have some party time.

I remember the chart Kevin Drum once had the honesty to post showing how she had more negative press than the rest of the candidates put together. I wonder if there is an updated version of that chart? It would probably be even more exaggerated now. I don't think Obama could stand up to that kind of unrelenting assault, but it seems it just makes her more buoyant.

[And the great finish...]

I don't know about you, but I think having a candidate who is popular with the majority of voters, who attracts more of her opponents voters than they do of hers, who never runs out of energy, who cannot be backed down or turned aside no matter how hostile and unfair the attacks, and who dedicates every day to doing right by the people who have put their trust in her is a pretty good person to have as your nominee.

She's got my vote. Permanently.

=== note ===
*No* offense meant to anyone but please note the poll header. It says "Sen. Clinton Supporters". Of course *anyone* is free to comment on this or any poll but rude, aggressive, nasty or ugly comments are really NOT necessary. Thanks!

Absolutely! She is the best candidate running in this race and she keeps getting votes because of it. I support her all the way, 100%! As long as she doesn't give up, her supporters shouldn't either!

Hillary had to say what she said today to protect her Washington Job nothing else. If she ran as a independent I support her till the Election is over. But hoping to be second to Obama or in his cabinet no way.

She has told the press and everyone who will listen over and over that she is not asking for the job of VP, that it is not on her 'list' of important things right now and that she isn't even sure if she would want it. But they continue to play that same freaking meme again and again and again . They need to stop trying to demean her and bring her down. It seems they will be happy with nothing less than her total and unequivocal capitulation. She is strong and resilient but enough is enough.

And still she did not day Obama's two magic words... the ones he went to her to get (imo) the other night. She never said "I concede". lol

She did what she had to do and not one inch more and I respect her for that. She did not concede, she did not give up her delegates or her campaign infrastructure and I respect her for that.

Today was the moment for her to move on, to do what she has to do to keep doing what she has always done.

    lol sorry

I wish I could agree with you Gramma Lil. No offense, but I think people should vote what's in their conscience and heart, *not* party line, especially when so many people have lost faith with the Party leaders and they really don't seem to care as long as we 'go along'. Sad but true, imo.

I've thought long and hard about that... and, personally, I won't lose respect for her because I believe IF she accepted it would be for *us*, not him; to win the White House and continue working to make a difference. *But* he needs her, she doesn't need him. She's an important senator, of the majority party, in a major state. Chances are she'll choose not to trade that away.

You hit the nail on the head. The VP job can only have as much, or as little, responsibility as the President agrees to. He could give her a 'full plate' of things to accomplish... but would more than likely make it a 'coat closet' where he'd want to hang her up, out of the way and out of sight.

I agree whole heartedly and have moved far away from that opinion. I was giving him too much credit for integrity and in the last 6 weeks since I posted that comment I've come to realize how naive I was being! He will only use her if allowed... as he has been doing. Her debt being virtually paid now has at least taken that from the equation. Now he's trying to force her to distance herself from HillRaisers (big fundraisers) and others that are vocally saying 'No Obama'. We'll see how that plays out but I wish he would leave her the hell alone and stop making her choose between her party and her own integrity.

He has been given enough rope to "hang" himself. Hopefully it will happen before Convention! Please, please, please, Higher power hear our Prayers. I think the prayers are coming in so loud and clear it's impossible to ignore!

As far as Hillary is concerned, she is such an intelligent Lady, she would NOT comprimise herself between integrity and party, especially when it comes to Obama. She knows exactly what is going on. She is a Lady and one of Honor, Something BHO has no idea about! I can't STAND the Dems right now, I am so angry @ them, I can't even write a letter or response to those a$$holes without being foul.......

I don't yet... but maybe it's the hard-headed Texan in me or the irrepressible Irish! =) I'm glad she didn't concede tonight (since he didn't *win*, he limped across some so-called magic line). And hope she just suspends her campaign, gets some rest and puts in some Senate hours. And after all, in an election cycle, it's a long time and a long road to November.

Why is it (according to MSM tonight) Hillary's responsible to 'pull the party together' for HIM??? Isn't Unity his baby? These so-called news sources have been crazy the last couple of days talking BS about how she didn't anoint him properly Tuesday night, then how she was conceding, not conceding, asking for VP and on and on!!! Her campaign has been having to release statements all day refuting every single one of their talking points. I was glad to hear that she was not even sure she would want to be VP and that "it is not on her list" right now. grrrr The media forced him on us... now she has to acquiesce and place a crown on his head???

    [/rant] sorry! =)

I hear ya heart. No need to be sorry, I'm so mad too that I could spit! I don't know why they can't just leave her the hell alone. They've already cost her the nomination, but that's not enough for the rabid dogs. I'm surprised they haven't dragged her to the town square and threatened to burn her at the stake unless she apologizes for having the audacity to even run against their precious king! I can't bear the thought of her accepting a VP offer from the likes of him.

I think this is the perfect chance for us to send a clear message to the DNC. Turn your back and vote McCain. We'll come back to Hillary in 2012...While loser Obama and the dumbheads who overrode the voters are out on their butts from their political offices. I won't support any of them that humiliated my candidate, and were unloyal to her.

Chances are if he was elected and was ineffectual in the first 2 years, as is very possible, we could easily lose the majority in 2010. There will be at least 34 Senate seats being contested and almost half of those are Democrat, plus the House elections. If we were to lose either majority then it could make thing that much harder in 2012.

See, that's the idiocy of the DNC and old DC factions... like Rod posted in her blog, if Obama had been encouraged to wait, work as Hillary's vp for 2 terms and then run in 2016 we could possibly have looked at 16 yrs of progressive actions and redirection, effectively rewriting our children's futures. But no... the thought of having a young malleable man, no matter how unprepared he is, was just too much for them. They knew no one else could have even come close to beating her. And Teddie, Kerry et al knew they would never be able to push their agendas onto her or distract her with bullshyt.
