CBS News is reporting that in a five to four decision authored by Chief Justice John Roberts the Supreme Court has upheld the right of Congress to impose a requirement that all Americans have health insurance or pay a penalty under the Congress' taxing powers. Details are still coming in. It appears that the Court has also struck down the requirement that States expand their Medicaid coverage.

A new tax for the Middle Class
Oh no, I said there wasn't a tax, your job is to show me where theres a new middle class tax. I dont believe it and I'm asking you to provide information and the knowledge you have, that I apparently do not. So I can look into it myself... this really isnt that hard!
Pelosi herself said "The Health care TAX, is not a TAX"
That's liberal logic for you.
You may be surprised I am not totally against a health care overhaul but I do not like it being paid for by a tax or penalty. .
My big problem with the Dem's and Obama is they have a philosophy that they(The government) know what is good for us---they want to think and make decisions for us. More Government--less freedom
They were all in agreement that the mandate was unConstitutional in relation to WH attorney's main argument that it was allowed under the Commerce Clause.
That is what Conservatives and many Liberals have been saying for months.... 70%.
Whether Roberts meant to or not, by siding with the Liberals, he exposed 0bozo's repetitive lie about it not being a TAX, and put it in writing.
As Pelosi said... [we'd find out what's in the bill] That conversation has been quite silent and wasn't poised to get much discussion, especially if the mandate had been rejected, as it should have.
However, by this ruling, 0bozoTax has been placed on the front burner and Americans will FINALLY be paying attention to all those things 0bozo and Dem's who voted for this monstrosity, didn't want to talk about.
No, you wont be able to keep your Doctor or your coverage because employers will gladly pay the fine compared to what the cost is to provide medical insurance as they have for decades. Where does that leave the employee? Being forced into a govt. sanctioned plan, with less coverage and less quality than they had, or be faced with...

No, you wont be able to keep your Doctor or your coverage because employers will gladly pay the fine compared to what the cost is to provide medical insurance as they have for decades. Where does that leave the employee? Being forced into a govt. sanctioned plan, with less coverage and less quality than they had, or be faced with fines of their own, garnishment of wages and possible prosecution by the IRS.
It would cost employers an extra $2 per hour, per employee (not boosting any wages) which will result in lay-offs and stymie any future job growth. Doctors will simply stop taking Medicaid & Medicare patients which some already have, limiting where one can go for treatment & services.
$500 Billion gets sliced out of Medicare which will result in decreased services and leave their fate in the hands of the govt. and put a price tag on their lives.
The court also upheld states rights and ruled the Feds cannot force states to participate in the increased Medicaid program but cannot penalize them by cutting funding. So where will all that Medicaid $$$$ come from? Cutting other programs and agencies within the Federal to pay for their expansion of the welfare state.
Bottom line, there's well over a year before the mandate would become effective and plenty of time to de-fund 0bozoTax, repeal the entire bill and replace it with a sensible solution that actually does allow people to keep their doctor, their insurance plan, lower costs, improve the quality and availability of care.
This ruling has also, all but guaranteed that taxes in general, will NOT return to the Clinton levels on Jan. 1. 2013. There's no way America will buy the two largest tax increases in history piggy-backing on top of one another.
Yes, you will be able to keep your doctor.
No, a "government sanctioned plan" does not provide less coverage and less quality.
No, it will not cost employees $2 an hour.
No, it will not be repealed.
Yes, the Bush tax giveaways to billionaires will end in December.
ALL of the Justices agreed that the bill was unConstitutional when applied against the Commerce Clause when they went into conference after oral arguments were heard.
No, the "keep your doctor keep your policy' is 100% bullsh!t as employees have no control over the employer's decision to cancel all coverage packages.
0bozocare doesn't even come close to what policy holders already had, which 85% of Americans were happy with before this fiasco began.
I said it will cost EMPLOYERS on average of $2 per employee more in taxes to pay for the other aspects ..... such as increased Medicaid etc.
It WILL be systematically de-funded, repealed and replaced in 2013.
Good luck with reinstating the Clinton tax rates. That will be such a no-brainer by December as the economy continues to siip into the abyss and unemployment rises steadily between now & then. NOBODY will be hiring until 2013 as a result of the decision yesterday.
One can only hope.

Ideologues can rarely be separated from their brainwash, so the current crop will continue to make asses of themselves and pile "issues" on Romney's shoulders until he sinks like a rock in the Great Salt Lake, notwithstanding the magic underwear. Society prevails, it is moving on without them, as it did when Barry Goldwater, Ross Perot, and McCain/Palin were carrying the banners to the rear of the parade.
Isn't this fun, watching a boat with oars on just one side go round and round in circles?
