Yes+12This is disturbing if true as it will be possible to extract private information from people in custody.

If the article is accurate and such technology does exist, just imagine how horribly it will be misused. Also think about how quickly the technology will be perfected and devices will be made small enough to carry in your pocket or purse. World governments and other criminals will be the first to abuse them. Before long they will be on sale at the Walmart for $19.95 and everybody will have one. The world would be a very frightening place without secrets and lies. I hope this isn’t true.
But...
Technology evolves and in this day and age it evolves fast, especially if the research gets funded. Wireless tech is also evolving fast. What if a handheld scanner is developed that can scan crowds looking for 'potential crimes'. Or how about wireless impulses that can trigger areas of the brain and 'calm' people down? Thought police here we come.
Granted, my interest in sci-fi may be coloring these admittedly extreme examples, but it's still scary to think about and anymore, I don't think the development or utilization of devices like that are really that far-fetched anymore. Just think about how far technology has come over the last 100 years, or 50, or even 20. Hell 10 years ago the world was a different place technologically speaking.
