School Bus Monitor Verbally Abused on Bus: Should Students Be Disciplined?

Had it been me I'd have knocked that bastard out cold.

If one of those was my kid they would find it hard to sit down for a week.

They should spend few months in a juvenile corecction facility.

Those kids should be able to sit for a week. Never have I seen such utter disrespect of elders. What the hell do these parents teach there kids?

I would love to tear into those little bastards. It's a good thing it wasn't my grandmother they were talking to. My grandmother wouldn't have taken it. My bus-driver would never have allowed that either. But that's public school.

She should pull a "Casey Heynes" on them. lol.

There's no excuse for this. The term 'abuse' is more than apt. I'm happy to see that this is a nearly unanimous decision here on this site, because it doesn't matter who is being abused, and it doesn't matter who is doing the abusing. They pushed it way too far and ganged up on an old lady. I'm sure their parents are proud.

When I was in school, you would get detention for talking on the bus. When did kids get so messed up!?

They'll get it back. I was a bit of a "bully hunter" in school. I was a bit of an oddball so they would always end up picking on me, I was by no means a bad ass but I think it just kinda took them by surprise when I'd explode and knock the hell out of em.

What they did was awful and deserves punishment.

If that was my kid or kids, they'd be grounded for the summer. They would write a a letter of apology and verbally apologize to her. They are old enough to know better. In my opinion no excuse for that behavior

They should be publicly humiliated all the way through high school and beyond.

Just because someone is younger doesn't mean they should be exempt from the rules. If they weren't minors this probably would have went straight to court.

Schools and parents need to go back to spanking...Now if I spank my kids ass im charged with abuse. Its BS. Thats why kids are they way they are now adays. its disgusting

Disturbing, disheartening and disgusting. What in the hell is happing to the kids on this planet? I feel terrible for that little lady.

I really hope each one of those kids get into trouble. I would say expel them from taking the bus ever again. That was nasty mean and cruel. They are obviously old enough to know better.

Disturbing... All of the students should not only be disciplined but all of the parents should have to attend a mandatory parenting classes.

Does this even need to be asked? A better question would have been "to what degree should these kids be punished?"

I don't know what was worse, a bus driver who did not pull over ASAP and get the cops or the ass for kids on there. The real shame is I can not believe this still goes on!! I had this happen to a kid on a bus years ago and ALL the kids were thrown off the bus right there and then and never let back on the rest of the school year.

Kids do it all the time. A lot of little boys tease little girls. I showed my kids how to protect themselves and told them they had permission to defend themselves if they need be. Just be absolutely certain. Fortunately we haven't come to that point. I feel sorry for the little sh1t that does something out of line.

Many time I have called the school and bus company. It friggin real ticks me off too. The school said it is up to the bus company. The bus company says it is up to the bus driver to change the seats.

When my little girl got on the bus at one point this year (some little twerp was harassing her) she was never moved. I walked on the bus after the kids got on and told her she could sit wherever she wanted. I told the bus lady that if she wanted to step of the bus and talk about we would but my child isn't sitting there anymore. I said I was tired of calling the school and bus company and this is the way it is going to be.

I have walked every one of my kids to the bus stop, my oldest is in high school now. It is a very good tip to make friends with the bus driver. They are really nice people and have a horrible job.

You are a great parent and handled a difficult situation the right way. Every one I know has at one time been exposed to a bully, even me!! But I took care of him and that was that. The school need to start getting back in the business of helping the parents in these situations.

When this happened on our bus, ALL of them were thrown off ASAP by the police and then banned from the bus for the rest of the year. I LOVED when we drove past them in bad northern weather and saw them walking. Thank god as part of the punishment from the parents, no rides for them.

Who was driving the bus and why didn't the bus driver pull over and call the Superintendent of the school district as well as 911 to report this bullying mob activity? PARENTS WAKE UP AND DISCIPLINE YOUR CHILDREN THEY DON'T NEED FRIENDS THEY NEED PARENTS!!!!!

They should be forced to retake whatever grade they are just now finishing and they should no longer be able to ride the bus, EVER!

I'm all for expulsion. I didn't think the school would have the guts to do that though. And sure you can punish a student academically for behavioral issues, it's done just about everyday.

No, you don't hold a student back when they're passing their classes. When a student is held back, it's because they didn't get good grades. If these kids are getting good grades, holding them back is a recipe for absolute disaster. I get that you want to "send the message," but that's the wrong way to do it. You end up punishing a hell of a lot more innocent people in the process.

Absolutely disgusting how disrespectful kids are. They should be banned from the bus and forced to walk to and from school. I don't care how far it is either, walk you ignorant brat.

Damn straight those kids should be punished. IF any of my children EVER treated ANYONE that way, they KNOW they'd be punished by my husband and I, even if they weren't by the school! One of the dad's of these bullies was trying to down play it.. saying the media is making too big of a deal out of it...really??? His statement alone is telling as to why HIS kid is a brat/bully.

needs to be fired,you can't tell me that he/she couldn't hear their big mouths.
