It's been a little while since the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal broke, but the trial is finally over and the verdict is in. Sandusky was found guilty on 45 of the 48 counts filed against him involving 10 different victims over a span of about 13 years. Guilty charges include involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors, and endangering a child's welfare. The victims were between the ages of 9 and 17 at the time of the abuse.

Sandusky's defense team is already planning an appeal strategy. Defense attorney Joe Amendola told The Associated Press, "We told the trial court... and the Supreme Court we were not prepared to proceed to trial in June due to numerous issues, and we asked to withdraw from the case for those reasons." Jerry Sandusky continues to claim innocence.

Who knows whether the correct number of counts to convict on was 45, or 44 or 46, but I have little doubt that the basic idea, that he was guilty as sin (literally) was correct. His activities were apparently widely known (maybe not specific incidents, but in general). That no one did anything about it for so long is a stain on Penn State's reputation. They may have tried to cover it up by scapegoating Joe Paterno, but it's pretty clear that the problem is far wider and deeper.

..... and his appeal will go down in flames, especially considering his own adopted Son came out and has made the same accusations public.

Sandusky will never see another day of freedom and charges should be filed against his wife and a handful of others at Penn State. I don't care if they claim to have followed campus procedure to justify their inaction.
ANYONE who had knowledge and failed to follow up with the utmost diligence should be prosecuted.as accessories to the crimes committed.

I just wish they would have gotten it right, much MUCH sooner.

This slime wad should plead guilty and stop costing taxpayers money and stop the torment of his victims. Take that sentence like a man Jerry. Stop your silly appeal.

Well all 52 of the original counts would have been great, but the judge tossed a few and they jury didn't believe some of it.

But hey, 45 guilties for being a violent predator who abused his position of power-GREAT start, let's let prison justice do the rest.

Anyone who is accused of sexual abuse is due their day in court. One accusation may be bogus but multiples indicate a pattern. Over the years we have come to understand that abusers have a skewed opinion of what abuse is. This is why the insistence of innocence continues. They are mentally ill and need to be incarcerated and must get psychological help.

I bet he transferred everything away from himself so his wife can continue to live in luxury and his victims will get NOTHING from him. Maybe the school and the charity can pay. Although, I hate to see a college that takes federal funds payout these lawsuits-just increases the costs for students and parents and taxpayers.
