Some people criticize Mitt Romney and label him out of touch with the 'common man' because of his wealth. He is very wealthy and made his wealth on Wall Street. He worked hard, made investments, and made a profit for himself, the company and the shareholders. An American Capitalism story of success.

So, why all the attacks on Romney's money? Why does anyone care what he does or doesn't do with his money? People complain about him not paying enough in taxes when they should be screaming for TAX REFORM instead!!

"But Blue, Warren Buffet says rich people should pay more in taxes?" Mr. Buffet could donate ALL his BILLIONS to the govt and it wouldn't even scratch the national DEBT!!

Okay, so Romney doesn't have to struggle to pay his mortgage. He may be able to send his kids to private schools and colleges. He can afford to buy his wife nice things like Cadillacs. He doesn't worry about the price of gas and groceries like we do.

I thought America was a place where people aspired to a higher standard of living? They worked hard to make a better life for themselves and their children. They frowned upon depending on the govt for assistance. And most of all, they celebrated the success of others and were proud of capitalism.

The economy is the central issue of this election and attacking a candidate's personal success in his business career is only a distraction. Let's stick to the issues.

So what if Mitt Romney is a rich white guy? Is that really such a bad thing?

This four time draft dodger believes in feeding the rich and burying the poor. His wealth and race have nothing to do with my disliking him. It's all about what is beneath the surface and what's beneath the surface with Mitt Romney, except a hollow empty shell of a man?

I have nothing against Mitt for being rich, but I happen to think he is out of touch. He has not taken the journey through life that so many of us has. He did not grow up being raised by parents who beat him and used their money, not for the kids but for their own pleasures. He did not grow up being labeled less of a person because he was poor or lived in a trailer park or ghetto. He has never known the fear of possibly becoming homeless or the pain of hunger when you go without eating. YES America people go hungry every day here in our great country. He has probably never had to sleep on a mattress without sheets or know how cold it gets in the winter when your electricity is cut off cause you can't pay the bill. I bet he has never had to hitchhike. I wonder has he ever even eaten ramen noodles. No I don't hate him cause he is rich, but I have no respect for a man who earned his riches off the backs of the companies he brought down.

What do you know about being poor? Lived in a 3rd world country? Well if you have then you might decide a good leader is someone who was really good with money, investing money, making money and keeping strict budgets. I suggest that is exactly who you would like representing your interest in money and fine foods.

As for Romney, contrary to your propaganda, he is well aware of people who go hungry (and has lived in such places) and has had working class 'blue-collar' low-paying jobs while he worked his way through school.

It's not like he is some elitist upper-middle class kid from Hawaii you know.

Maybe people think so because he is a Republican. If you will note many of the past presidents were very rich but they were Democrats. FDR and JFK are two of the most recent ones. I find it amazing how the Dems always relate wealth to the Republicans when the house and senate have more wealthy members who are Dems than do the Republicans.

    Is this the new "Profiling"?

We have elected a Black President! We have had A Black Female Secretary of State, A Black Commander of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, National Security Adviser, Secretary of State. Supreme Court Justices.....etc.

There are Black Americans with vast (over $100 million) such as Oprah Winfry, Snoop Dogg, Samuel Jackson, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan.

The perspective here is that Blacks are less than 13% of the population and Whites are more than 70%.

"Romney doesn't have to struggle to pay his mortgage."

Well, the truth is; Obama wouldn't have to struggle to pay his mortgage, either.

Actually, neither would have any type of money problems, but they do have "GREED" problems. Check it out; Liberal millionaires declare that conservative millionaires are the problem. On the other hand, conservative millionaires say that Liberal millionaires are the problem. However, there is one thing that they both are alike on, and that is the fact that they never mention they all are millionaires. But I will say this as far as Republicans and Democrats go, the republicans will admit that they have money, but to hear what Democrats say, a person would think that Democrats are broke as convicts, which is a down right lie.

I would have to disagree. The Wall Street we have today was created by the Federal Reserve. The founding fathers warned us of that development, but the Congress and the Wilson administration ignored he warning..........Or did they?

“And I sincerely believe, with you, that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies; and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property - until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.” ~ Thomas Jefferson - 1802

The Federal Reserve is a private Bank. There are 12 Federal Reserve Banks that form a major part of the Federal Reserve System, the central banking system of the United States.

Alexander Hamilton set up the first bank, but never intended it to be ran by the government, the first problem came in 1873 when Congress nationalized money for the first time, imposing what was effectively a gold standard, in the place of the bimetallic standard set in place by the Founders. The creation of the FED in 1903 more or less sealed the fate of the country because it can effectively control the currency of the country through inflation, and deflation.

I would like to ask you a question, but first some background. When I got out of the service a person could go to work in a factory and if prudent he could see his children go to college if they wanted to.The middle class was represented by 75% of the population and 45% of those were union.Since then i have seen the middle class absolutely decimated because of right wing media until there is hardly a middle class at all anymore.Wall street is pure capitalistic until they need help and then they are sold on socialism until they get our tax dollars.
I do not know how to do it but i would like for you to look at a graph of the middle class size since 1980 and a graph of union membership since 1980 and they are almost identical.
My question is how would you stop this expansion between the 1% and the other 99% ? I have no animosity against the 1% until they start raiding and selling off companies and the workers retirements and then send the jobs overseas. People that do this to the middle class are guilty of treason.

Congress is the corruptors, not Wall Street. Wall Street is just for investors, which is at this time mostly the Congress, thus they are the main pushers at Wall Street. The big companies are those “corporations that will grow up around the banks (that) will deprive the people of all property.”

Check the ownership of Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac. They were started, and are owned and managed by Democrats from conception. They were the heart of the cause of the collapse of the economy. The world economy is tied to the Dollar, and when the Democrat companies in Wall Street, of which 90 % or more are ran by Democrats and “Progressive” Republicans who are so far right that the circle is completed and they are as bad as the left to which they connect, they are as bad as the Democrats. We conservatives call them RINO (Republican In Name Only). They are as bad as the communist party.

How so? Congress created the Federal Reserve, the Federal reserve regulates Wall Street. The federal Reserve regulates the interest rates that control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, through the Federal Reserve Note. And then everyone knows that Wall Sreet is private owned, And that the Federal Reserve is private owned also, and the trouble is, the Democrats at his time owns the whole shebang, with a few RINOs thrown in to boot.

I agree with some of what you said even though you did not come close to answering my question. Fannie mae and freddie mac were the agencies that were the easiest for hannity and Limbaugh to reach in and pick out. George Bush said that he wanted to be remembered as the "home ownership" president. That was a good thing based on people paying a 600 dollar house payment instead of a 700 dollar rent payment. It is no easy task to get a home loan, but when your income warrants it and then your job is sent overseas and you can no longer make the payments some jerk on talk radio says "that person should never have been approved for a loan".

No body reached in. MCain and a couple of others came up with a Bill to stop sub-prime loans, but the congress voted it down in 2003 following a Democrat lead. They returned in 2006, but the Senate canned it again saying that there was nothing wrong withe Fannie and Freddy. All this is confirmed in the Library of Congress, where one can find all Bills that failed or were passed, and the stated reasons as to why in either case.

Excellent post, old soldier. Poison fails to realize that many of the Obama advisors including Valerie Jarret and Tim Geitner were former Goldman Sacs employees. Apparently Goldman Sacs employees are the only types that can run the current regime. Maybe that is why we are in the current mess we now find ourselves. Who else would advise the government to invest $875 billion in creating jobs for the public sector. Maybe they are not as brilliant as they think. By so doing they created non-revenue producing jobs and increased the devestating debt even further.

Oh.... I know and you know why he wants OWS running around causing chaos.

I found this article and I think it expresses much of what we feel about OWS:

Lake of the Ozarks, Mo. —
Who exactly is the 99%? That, to me, is a reasonable question. If a person says they are Democrat, then they are aligning themself with the democratic party, meaning good or bad you get to identify with that group. As well as if you say you are Republican.
So now the media are talking about the 99%. So lets look at who is a part of that 99%. Is it the woman named Sofia Albaiti who wants to see an end to democracy, who feels we should be a socialist government? Or how about CAIR which is a Muslim group who is known by our government to have ties with Hamas which is the radical terror group we have heard about in Palestinian
    territory?
Another part of the 99% is the young man who, with many racial slurs verbally attacked a older Jewish man in the street, where they are having the protests. Are we to join ranks with the topless protester, who has chosen to protest without a shirt? Not quite sure what she is protesting, clothing in general or no job to buy a shirt.
How about the young people who are protesting their debt? They chose to sign up for student loans and now they want Wall Street to bail them out.

This group has a list of demands and you can go and read, all 369 pages of them. A recent survey of Occupy Wall Street supporters showed 31% felt that they were ok with violence for the cause.
So I want to go on the record.
I am not a part of the 99%. I don't want a bailout. I don't want socialism. I will wear my shirt in public. I don't agree with anti-Semitic comments, and if I see this kind of verbal abuse I will not stand by, and video tape the show.
I will protest what I choose to protest, I will speak for myself.
The protesters at Occupy Wall Street haven't even figured out where and what they are protesting. What allowed Wall Street to act in the manner they have was not illegal.
Laws were passed starting Clinton era and now to Obama era that have given Wall Street the avenue they travel on today. Corporate greed is real and I am not saying its not there.
The reason they can still go about business as usual is, the very ones saying they support Occupy Wall Street like Obama, Romney, Pelosi had a hand in the till. They allowed corporate lobby groups determine how they would vote for the campaign donations, that were given.
So now the truly fat cats are sitting up in Washington talking out of the side of their mouths all the while knowing who butters their bread.
One demand of Occupy Wall Street I will agree with is term limits. We need to have term limits. Get rid of the lifers who are just a leach on the system whose only interest is the next election.
But I didn't need Occupy Wall Street to say that for me I've been saying it for years.

"Corruption & lack of empathy for fellow Americans was always the sore spot."

The Kennedy's were known for corruption starting with Joseph Kennedy. I don't believe Jack or Bobby were corrupt, other than morally, which was definitely a mutated gene in most of the Kennedy's... especially Ted. And I think leaving Mary Jo Kopechne to drown could definitely be considered a lack of empathy.

Seem like John Edwards also had problems with corruption, both moral and legal, though Bunny Mellon covered for him. And empathy? I'm sure his deceased wife could tell you a thing or two about Edwards' "empathy."

And of course, John Kerry still hasn't moved his very expensive yacht to his home state.... he doesn't want to pay the taxes he's supposed to pay since they're more expensive at home. Oops.... there's that empathy thing again. He wants his "fellow man" to pay their taxes, but has no problem skating on his.

There's all sorts of stuff on Kerry... all the way from making money off of information gained in Congress to lying about his Swift boat "exploits." http://militarycorruption.com...

Seems that I've found quite a bit of good things Romney has done versus the wealthy Dems or getting wealthy Dem, like Obama.

There are no saints in Congress, period. There are fewer than expected in churches as well.

What do we find in this world? Institutions of learning, and even churches and religious organizations, are teaching: evolution, humanism, communism, libertinism, atheism, and a host of other lies. We find that churches are preaching the philosophies of men, the commandments of men, the prejudices of men, and the traditions of men, and a new morality centered on money. Washington DC is replacing morality with "social programs" designed to fill the pockets of Politicians and nothing else, and just like the Roman Empire they are destroying themselves, but are too stupid and drunk on riches to see the true nature of what they are doing. The problem is that this is all laid out in the Bible, which relates that in the end they will not only destroy themselves and everyone else, but the Earth as well.

You are right, the founding fathers did not beleve in theories. The Bible is a book of law and history, all based on fact.

I understand as the founding fathers did, that the Constitution’s understanding of liberty and freedom was defined as stated in the Bible and carried over into the Decularation of Independance.

From the Declaration of Independence; We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by THEIR CREATOR with certain unalienable right; that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

“Children learn the meaning of morality, religion, and respect for law from the habitual fidelity of their parents to one another.” - John Adams

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” -- John Adams

“The highest glory of the American Revolution was this: It connected in one dissoluble bond the principles of Civil Government and Principles of Christianity.” ~ John Q. Adams

“Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports.” - George Washington

And why is there failure beginning to show up in these areas? "It is in the interest of tyrants to reduce the people to ignorance and vice. For they cannot live in any country where virtue and knowledge prevail." -- Samuel Adams
