Romney Thinks That Obama Supporters Are 'Victims' Who Rely on Government Handouts: Is He Right?

Seeing how close the election is, do you really think Romney thinks he will be able to change the political views of Obama supporters? All Obama supporters that I have met are so stubborn and arrogant that they cannot see the truth. So why does it really matter? Obama constantly runs all over republicans in all of his speeches. But just like everything else the president does, we should just pretend it never happened.

Obama wants people to rely on government, so they can control you, on what you eat, drive, how much money you make, you may have healthcare. It will cost alot.

Obama supporters come from all walks of life. The main thing that distinguishes them is that they care about people, where as the 1% only cares about their wallets.

To everyone who voted yes - It is sad to see how ignorant and hateful our nation has become.

I am not proud to be an American anymore. Everywhere I turn, I see people fighting against everything we used to stand for. You've brought down the very traditions and values you claim to uphold.

There was a time when we were proud to help out those in need, because it was the American way to provide every man and woman the opportunity to succeed and to improve the lives of not just some of us, but all of us.

Those times are apparently long gone. All we worry about now is how profitable "our" corporations are, or how much of our money the government "steals." We look down on the poor as lazy, as failures, and we blame them for their situation. We look up to the rich and see them as champions of our system; we believe they got there because of their hard work and effort.

I'm sick of the ignorance the majority of the American population lives in. Of the lies and propaganda we are fed on a daily basis. Wake up, America. The dream is over.

When we are talking about people who are able to work, yes he is right. Unfortunately I know a lot of people who like to game the system. I have a sister-in-law who would rather receive money from the government then work, nothing wrong with her at all but she uses her daughter as an excuse to not work incase her daughter gets sick and she needs to stay home to take care of her. There are 3 adults in that house who coud do that. I know at least two couples who have had children and didn't get married because of the money they could get from the government. Both parents work and they don't really need the assistance. People who have been fired or unemployed because of a lay-off won't look for work because they beleive that the unemployment benefit will pay more than if they found another job.
Seriously, working two jobs is an answer and we don't like having to do it but sometimes it's necessary.
As far as "victims" yes, when you continuously bail people out, they never truly learn to stay on their feet. What's that saying....give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach him to fish and he will eat for a lifetime. I'd rather pay the money for everyone to go to some kind of school to learn a trade than pay out the money for over 2 years and they still don't have job skills. Just say'n, things have to change, we give out more than we every have before and it is not sustainable.

There it is. The moment when hypocrisy smacks you in the face.
Romney criticizes Obama for playing divisive games of class warfare in public, then uses class warfare as a fund-raising tool in private.

As long as this administration preys on the unfortunate and promises them entitlements, they will naturally vote for him or anyone else making these promises.

That is right give people things they will vote for you to get more of the things and getting rid of the work requirement on Welfare has doubled the people signing up for it! Gee like that was not expected! No it was vote Democrat is what it said.

A Romney supporter asked Mitt something along the lines of if "personal responsibility" could be a winning issue. Mitt said that 47% of people aren't paying income taxes, so it would be an uphill battle to convince that group that they should vote for Romney on a personal responsibility platform.

It is hard to turn down free money that is gifted to you simply because you can not or will not work. Why would people want to get off government assistance when they have been given money for so long? Now, people are dependant on it. Too many people do not understand the joy of hard work. They are used to just "getting by" and barely living, while the hard working middle and upper class take care of them. Sad.

I believe what Romney said was true so no reason for him not to stand by his comments. I'm thinking he mostly means the way Ovomit is giving handout to illegal immigrants.....driving licenses, pogey cheques, jobs reserved for them......the list goes on. I doubt that even the democrats appreciate him doing this. Demo or Repulican......NOBODY likes to work hard and have so many freeloaders living off of their hard earned money, so I doubt Romney will lose many votes on his comments. He just didn't pad or streamline what his thoughts were on it. If anything, it shows that he "tells it like it is". I'm Canadian but it does matter to me who gets elected in the US as President because whoever gets in, it affects Canada greatly as a country with the free trade and living in such close proximity and sharing borders. My own personal opinion is that between Ovomit and Robme, you peeps in the US don't have much of a choice so you're between a rock and a hard place. But the lesser of the two evils would be Robme IMHO.

So who is that welfare state? That 28.3% that pay payroll tax, that 10.3% elderly, that 6.9% with income under $20,000, that <1% others, those 4000 millionaires who don't pay taxes? You think there are those that want to be on welfare? We call them the working poor who are working but can't afford to feed their families. They depend on food stamps. Of course there are my GOP neighbors who keep having kids on Medicaid and go to the store every month to get food with their food stamps. Think before you write, would you?

Everyone I know that is voting for Obama is not on any type of government assistance save for my grandma who receives Social Security. The people that I know that are on handouts are too lazy to vote.

I assume you are saying that he was liberal as in giving and generous, and that is an excellent trait. I'm happy to say as well that over the last 15 years I have donated well over $50,000 to charitable causes (mostly for children).
