Romney Takes Three More Primaries: Santorum's Last Stand?

Rick Santorum says the GOP primary is only at "halftime," but a three-state sweep in Tuesday's primary placed the first half firmly in Mitt Romney's palm. Romney took Wisconson, Maryland, and Washington D.C. this week, giving him a total of 655 delegates to Santorum's 278. Someone will need to secure 1,144 to win the nomination, and there are 1,166 remaining. The Washington Post calls it "the end of the end."

Like Newt Gingrich before him, Rick Santorum remains optimistic despite the odds, and says he will soldier on. Romney continues to focus on Obama instead of his primary opponents. According to The Daily Caller, "Voters leaving Republican polling places in Maryland and Wisconsin showed an electorate more concerned with a candidate’s ability to ability to defeat Obama than with the strength of his conservatism, his moral character or his stand on the issues." Do you think Romney's recent wins mark the end for Santorum?

Santorum has and had no chance to start with he simply don't fit the presidential profile as Sarah Palin didn't he is there to excite the obtuse and the religiously racists just like David Duke did in the past I believe Mittens will take a fire-breath Hillery like woman or maybe Neut but not Ricki the American Taliban unless he wants to loose ALL of the moderate women... You obviously don't understand the tenacity of either Ron Paul or his support. A President Paul would force the issues and his constituency would demand congress obey. You underestimate the power of the 'vote.' Unlike the current swill of Democrat/Republican voters who simply lay on their dead butts and allow things to go downhill, Ron Paul supporters get MOBILIZED into effective MOBS! If we warn certain politicians their future is riding on their actions, they know that if such talk comes from the mouth of a 'Paulian,' he can take that threat to the bank.

No, I'm afraid that you overestimate the power of the vote and particularly of your vote -- even if you had the actual grass roots support that you convince yourself you do.

You do realize primary turn outs are very small in most states, and that is particularly true in most (not all) states this year -- if your group actually were anywhere near the strength that you try to lead us to believe you are - you would at least be winning primaries in one party. You aren't. There's a reason.

And to inform us that you would organize yourselves into mobs ... yeah, that's a good way to convince most of us that we should support you -- let's see... last major political group anywhere that used mobs to control public discourse... oh yeah, I remember.

OK, I don't personally remember, but I remember who it was.

    Think lad.

Agreed. Politicians are, almost by definition, liars, but Romney sets a standard that is as yet unmatched and will be hard to equal in the future,. Santorum is merely hypocritical and deranged.

I agree with that assessment on both counts, but would change the words "merely hypocritical and deranged" to "extremely hypocritical and deranged".

If it turns out that those countries agree with the intelligent half of America, then so be it. At least it would show that they're able to recognize a winner when they see one. You GOP'ers... on the other hand... seem to prefer half-baked losers, religious fascists and escaped mental patients. Good luck with that.

I believe so. Even if he wins PA, which I'm pretty sure he will, he's way to behind in the polls to catch up. No candidate can at this point.

Actually the Intrade Market has Romney ahead in Pa. by 72.5% to 28.0%. Intrade has been 100% correct in their primary predictions so far.

You're okay with putting an inexperienced empty suit in the highest Office and then keeping him there after he has overseen the worst recovery since & including the Great Depression.

It's okay by you that you falsify the achievements of Women worse Santorum as long as you meet the daily agenda.
