It’s a common thing for a presidential candidate to pontificate about an issue of the day. It’s quite another for one to take credit for something he had no discernible role in.
But that isn’t stopping Mitt Romney. On Monday, in an interview with Cleveland‘sWEWS-TV, Romney said, “I’ll take a lot of credit” for the revival of the Detroit companies that went through federally sponsored bankruptcies.
As Justin Hyde onMotoramic put it, “It’s too bad for Romney that Al Gore invented the Internet so we could keep track of what actually happened.”

If Gore was elected we would have all been in the poor house while he lives in his multimillion dollar estate dictating to the people..let them eat bread!
Taking from Good businesses, and workers and giving them to bad businesses.
Or printing money, and devaluing the dollar.
Please tell me how Bailout's are successful?
And best it's moving your money from your left hand to your right hand and declaring "I'm rich".
Oh and all these Bailout lovers fail to see all the jobs that were destroyed in the taxes needed to pay for the Bailouts.
We had better frauds propping up our economy than the ruskies did. now that title goes to the Chinese, and all we can do is bitch about currency manipulation.
As an economist, i believe the term currency manipulation only exists in countries getting their ass kicked in dollar value.
Or that the Euro gives debt to countries with decent economies.
that's called inflation, it's going to happen, as more money is generated prices will inevitably go up. Welcome to the free market.
You control that by not letting 1% of the population walk off with the half the money, otherwise you leave your workers in poverty.
We can survive without rich people, we'll just make more, we've been doing it for centuries.
we cannot survive without a working class.
Only there was one problem with that argument, a private bankruptcy for automakers would not have been possible during the 2008-2009 financial crisis because credit markets were frozen and GM and Chrysler were unable to get private financing to keep operating through bankruptcy. The govt. was the only entity capable of doing so at the time, without govt. help they would have been forced to shut down, which would have devastated parts suppliers and threatened solvent carmakers such as Ford and Toyota.
Chrysler paid back all but 1.3 billion of its 12.5 billion loan, and GM has paid back about half of its 50 billion dollar loan and is making good profits and paying back the govt. ahead of schedule if I'm not mistaken?
Poor Mitt is in desperation spin mode and has little if any credibility at this point among liberals, moderates and yes even many conservatives.

Since 1976, no serious contender, Democrat or Republican, has watched his favorable ratings fall as low as Romney’s have in recent months. Or watched his unfavorable ratings climb as high. Or watched his overall numbers stay underwater—that is, more unfavorable than favorable—for so long. At this rate, Romney is shaping up to be the most unpopular presidential nominee on record.
He likes to jump out in front of the winning side, regardless of what he said yesterday. He thinks of himself as a leader, but he refuses to correct the crazies during his campaign appearances. He had to be forced to admit Obama should not be tried for treason after one of the loonies insisted he should be.
i guess joe didn't get the message of what msnbc's key demographic is.
Hell no!
