Romney takes credit for Success of Auto Bailout... Can we take anything he says seriously?

Met 2012/05/08 15:50:57
You do realize the frontal lobe of the cerebral cortex allows us to store and recall information right?
Romney deserves credit for Obama's accomplishments, and if we elect him, we'll be sure to give it to him.
You!

It’s a common thing for a presidential candidate to pontificate about an issue of the day. It’s quite another for one to take credit for something he had no discernible role in.

But that isn’t stopping Mitt Romney. On Monday, in an interview with Cleveland‘sWEWS-TV, Romney said, “I’ll take a lot of credit” for the revival of the Detroit companies that went through federally sponsored bankruptcies.

As Justin Hyde onMotoramic put it, “It’s too bad for Romney that Al Gore invented the Internet so we could keep track of what actually happened.”

It would appear the Paulistinians (really like that one) are going to vote for the guy who ensures a second Obama term; not unlike a vote for Ross Perot being a vote for Bill Clinton. I still kick myself about once a month as a reminder how stupid that was. So, I expect you'll see a couple million votes for Paul which, given how close many polls show this race, could be the difference. Naturally, the Paulistinians argue there is not a shred of difference between Obama and Romney. How do you deal with someone like that?

Here is a link to Romey's plan to let the auto indusrty die. Banks were not lending at the time, and all three auto companies would have died without the bailout.

I'm glad you brought up the economy.

Did you know the dow has doubled in 3 years of Obama policy after Bush policy saw it lose 10 years of accumulated wealth in less than 1 year?

Did you know that republicans are responsible for more than double the amount of recessions the democrats are, including the great depression and the two longest recessions on record?

Did you know that under Obama, the private sector has grown, and the government has shrunk... as opposed to the opposite effect that Reagan and the Bush's had...

Did you know that American companies are more profitable than ever under Obama?

Of course you didn't your ideology is spoon fed, and you don't do your own research.

Take it from Liberal Douche Garofalo:
companies profitable obama ideology spoon fed research liberal douche garofalo

If you look at Treasury web site you will see the split of Nation debt into two categories; “Intergovernmental Debt Holdings” and Public Debt.
    http://www.treasurydirect.gov...

Click on “summary debt schedule.” At this moment public debt is $10.860 trillion, while US government owned debt is 4.8 trillion.

George Bush created 2.4 trillion dollars of 10.860 trillion dollars of public debt or 22 percent. The US government owned portion of total National Debt is immaterial because you can't own money to yourself.

The spending machine created 5 trillion dollars of the total 10.860 trillion of public debt or 46 percent.

When the spending machine took office public debt was 5.8 trillion dollars. Today, it is 10.860 trillion.

Hmm, let's see, we are in debt over 18 trillion dollars, unemployment says 8.1% but if you include people that have quit looking for a job, you have to add another 7%, so basically we have about 15+ unemployment, the government has spent almost 1 hundred billion on fake "GREEN JOBS" that seem to go BK just as fast as they get the government money, there is inflation that the government doesn't want to admit, and you people insist that HE IS DOING A GREAT JOB. He has stopped all drilling on public lands and he is screwing the coal industry. So, you continue with your blather, and we will continue winning elections. Hell even a convict won 40% of the democrat vote in West Virginia against OBAMA. It's the ECONOMY, STUPID.

The road we are on is the road that was dictated to us by what the Obama administration did and did not do during the first two years of the current term, while the Democrats had the Presidency, the House, and a 60 vote majority in the Senate. No political party has ever had that much unilateral ability to do what they want, so we have to assume that since they had all of the power, they did exactly what they wanted to do.

    So what did they do?

    1) They borrowed $860B (mostly from the Fed, who printed the money (wondering why food and energy prices are up?)), and then wasted it handing it out to State a local governments who used it to save government jobs, instead of stimulating the private economy.

    2) They passed a health care bill that stole money from Medicare, implemented numerous tax increases (on everyone), and that implemented a mandate that we citizens buy a product from a private insurance company or pay a fine.

    3) Obama refused to take our fiscal crisis seriously. The last budget he submitted was voted down 435-0 in the House and 100-0 in the Senate. Even the big spenders in his own party did not want to be on record supporting his government largess.

    4) He implemented a centrally planned approach to energy policy which punished the exploration for and the production of cheap (carbon based energy) and wasted taxpayer dollars subsidizing expensive ("green") energy. He foolishly thought propping up companies that produced a product that most people do not want to buy would create jobs.

    5) He threatened increased taxes on small businesses (who create most of the jobs in this country) at every turn - creating the expectation that higher taxes were always just around the corner. Wonder why businesses are sitting on $4T of cash and not investing it? Because the idiot in the White House keeps threatening to increase the cost and risk of investing in America.

The latest gimmick, the "Buffet Rule" just went down to defeat in the Senate. This was the worst possible example of something that is a political pander (fairness), but that would actually be quite harmful to the economy. The fact that Obama believes that taking $48B out of the hands of people who earned it and have the government spend it would promote growth means that he is either a complete economic idiot, or such a committed socialist that he does not care about the economic consequences of his actions.

We cannot afford to have either an economic idiot or a committed socialist in the White House for four more years. Obama has to go in November.

If that's so.....then he's barking up the wrong tree as the auto bailout was a massive failure that put thousands of small dealerships across the nation out of business. Hey he saved that one corporation though.....that's....good right? Big money saved.....honest hardworking citizens thwarted?

I'm 100% sure Romney did not take credit for that bailout. If he did...well that's bad. Obama deserves the credit for the auto bailout - and come November that credit will be some of the evidence shutting him out of the White House lol.

GM still filed chapter 11, Chrysler is now owned by a foreign company. Ford took no bailouts, did fine. The bond holders in GM and Chrysler got F'd on the bailouts. Wouldn't want credit for that.
