NEW SECRET ROMNEY VID: PATHWAY TO PEACE BETWEEN ISRAELIS AND PALESTINIANS ‘ALMOST UNTHINKABLE’ — BUT WHAT’S THE FULL STORY?

Update: You can watch the full video of Mitt Romney’s speech here.

On Monday, liberal outlet Mother Jones captured headlines with the release of undercover video footage showing Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney candidly discussing a variety of issues during a private fundraiser. While some on the Left have seized upon his statements as potentially embarrassing, the clips — and the context they’re presented in — offer a more complicated picture. This morning, yet another leaked video that shows Romney speaking about Israel and Palestine at the same event is adding fuel to the controversy, but is the angst truly warranted?

The outlet explained that Romney’s comments about the situation in the Middle East came after someone at the dinner asked how the “Palestinian problem” could be solved. Mother Jones framed the candidate’s response as follows: ”Romney immediately launched into a detailed reply, asserting that the Palestinians have ‘no interest whatsoever in establishing peace, and that the pathway to peace is almost unthinkable to accomplish.’”

But this isn’t exactly how the statements were uttered. While the news outlet does note that Romney claimed “there was another perspective on this knotty matter” (Mother Jones’ words, not Romney’s), his actual statement was much more nuanced than he is being given credit for.

Never trust the Liberal media to report honestly!

The videos on that site show everything but the offensive part, which was unambiguously worded, unmistakably clear, not taken out of context, and not put into a different perspective by anything that was said before or after. There is really no misinterpreting this part:

"There are 47% if the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47% who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they're victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they're entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement, and the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this President no matter what."

It's not true that 47% have an entitlement mentality and depend on the government. Romney also said, while still speaking of those 47%: "I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives", which is even more offensive than the part that I quoted and equally untrue.

Many of the 47% who pay no income tax are retirees and veterans who have taken responsibility not only for themselves but for many others. And the fact that they live on a well-earned pension doesn't mean that they're automatically Obama voters. But some might have changed their minds after hearing this.

The 47% comment is fact. Of the 3 videos on that link it expressly displays the full comment Romney made re. the Palestinain/Israeli peace attempts. What Mother Jones reported and distorted was parts of that comment. Using the part they did, they have published an opinion based on their falsified assumption what Romney had said.

Liberal media in the tank for Obama - and you had to ask?
