Romney Sympathizes with Jews Over Temple's Destruction: Is Romney Pro-Israel?

Mitt Romney, the Republican president candidate, visited Israel during Tisha B'Av -- the 9th day of Av on the Hebrew calendar. Tisha B'Av requires Jews to mourn in commemoration of the many tragedies that have befallen the Jewish people on that day -- including the destruction of both the Jewish temples (the first by the Babylonians in 586 B.C.E.; the second by the Romans in 70 C.E.).

Former Governor Romney (R-MA) visited the Western Wall of the second Temple in Israel. The religious Jewish crowds showed enthusiasm for the candidate with cheers of "President Romney!" Romney placed a prayer in the Wall and recited Psalm 121, a song of ascents.

President Obama has not visited Israel during his first term, but promised to the Jewish people that he would visit in his second term, if re-elected. Obama won nearly 79% of the Jewish vote in 2008, but has lost popularity among the Jewish voters for his harsh criticism of Israel. Back in 2009, Obama held an 83 percent favorability rating among American Jews. At the same time, 66 percent of the general public approved of him. These numbers have decreased to 60 and 46, respectfully.
Mitt Romney and Barack Obama both actively court the Jewish vote, however, two of the three states with the largest Jewish population will undoubtedly vote for Obama (New York and California). Romney and Obama both have zeroed in on the Jewish vote in the swing state of Florida, which has about 640,000 Jewish voters.

Mitt Romney, in a move that would bolster Jewish support, asserted that the United States would recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The Obama administration refuses to name Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. A reporter got White House Press Secretary Jay Carney tongue tied and upset when asked the question -- "which city does Obama consider the capital of Israel?"

Republican candidate: "I feel the pain of the destruction undergone by the special Jewish people, as it was in the past."

This is my Freedom of speech and respect of redress of redress of grievances --rebuke Proverbs 27:5 -- of Mr. Romney.. as for his stance of Gay's and yet more for his side steping of the seperations of powers so to speak of as for the contempt of his Elected unconstitutional Actions by seeking to change or claim states rights above the federal Constitution on letting gays claim to be held as married,, he Acted without seeking the use of the Referendum ballot vote to change or make States laws in just mannors or not as so much seek to use the courts.. it was not in his right and power as a elected to do so .Married means Man and Wife Not Dick and hairy or Jean and Judy end of story.. its not natural gays have all the dam rights they need Not that I aprove yet I side on the rights of freedom of the framers To be secure in ones own home with out fear of and the means to secure the peace of .. If they want a tax break file for a home stead.. tHe elected legislature or Judicial system representatives of the republic should over turn the view and let the such be done in the right mannor..Not at all.. thus my view of not backing him as such I have never backed Obama.. http://youtu.be/KBXe3Kvg-qU , http://www.youtube.com/watch?...

I support the rights of Gays to get married. They should have the same rights under the law as everyone else. No one should be excluded, otherwise there is no point having equal rights and anti-discrimination laws. I raved the comment above, but cannot rave this post, as I find this a bit bigoted. If we are all equal under the laws on earth and in God's eyes, then all must be included.

With all do respect, to your views, I asure you I am not a bigoted person. , I personally think Gays by what ever the sex , My point or should I so point out such by the framers views have been given all do just rights in the Views the rights to be with out fear of We the people secure in one dwellings an persons and effects with ways as such to so defend it. Married means mAn and for wife,so to make new life, I am to open thus I have not ever had more then one wife if a given man can so aford to maintain his rights style of living. In my view those that seek to ask for such claims to be what is not natural is not Truth so such should not be for it is not....nor can be.. If they want a tax break and do not like the Forced now historically voluntary tax system file for a Homestead exemptions

Most sane people know that the dome of rock is not sacred to muslims. They just say that to get at Israel. The proof is that Israel can show they have been on the lands for nearly four thousand years, e.g. archeologically speaking and bibically. The lands the so called palastinians are on, is Jewish lands. These pseudo race, are actually the PLO, who went in to wipe Israel off the face of the world and failed. They are from surrounding arab lands and should go back to their real homes.

Ground breaking evidence of the "Palestinian" occupation of Jerusalem, and proof that the Dome of the rock is not really held as sacred by Muslims. In addition, proof from the Koran itself that the land of Israel belongs to the Jews. Very important video highlighting the "Palestinian" lie of their claim to the land of Israel and footage of "Palestinians" desecrating their own so-called "holy site." God bless Israel

I just hope that Mitt (real name Willard) Romney is equally committed to Israel coexisting with its neighbors. By supporting, and hopefully implementing a two-state solution. That way he can really show that he is pro-Israel, and pro-humanity.

Good luck trying to force them out of there. Meir Kahane wanted to do that with his Kach Party, but it got banned by the Israeli Supreme Court, and never ran in an Israeli election. Forced expulsion does not work on anybody.

Maybe Israel will have to and just tell everyone else to sod off. They are fighting for surivival and the arabs are not entitled to the land. They should be made to go home.

If Israel did that, they would end up like apartheid South Africa, and be shunned and banned by everyone. It is not fair for Israel to go through that because of someone's ultra-paranoia. Apartheid was abolished in South Africa, and the country did not disappear. Israel will not disappear either. So it is not justified in force expulsion of Arabs within Israel and the West Bank.

The Germans, the Vichy French, the Romanians, the Ukrainians, and on the other side were the Jews, Roma, German Communists, German Jehovah Witnesses. Massacres are not just exclusive.
