Romney selects Paul Ryan for Vice Presidential Running Mate!

KCurtis 2012/08/11 10:26:10
Formal announcement at 9:00am this morning.

Paul Ryan leader of the financial committee, seven term congressman from Wisconsin is Romney's running mate.

(CNN)
-- Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin is considered a
rising GOP star and the Republican Party's leader on fiscal and
budgetary issues.

The chairman of the House
Budget Committee was first elected to Congress at age 28, and later
helped launch the party's "Young Guns" program to recruit candidates in
districts where Republicans lost.

Now 42, Ryan is the
architect of the House GOP's budget proposal, which Democrats compared
to an attack on the poor, but Republicans say is intended to save
Medicare and rein in spending.

A native of Janesville,
Wisconsin, Ryan earned a degree in political science and economics from
Miami University in Ohio in 1992. He was raised as a Catholic, and
worked at a family construction company before getting into politics.

In the House, Ryan is also a senior member of the Ways and Means Committee.

He has frequently pushed
the Republicans' "class warfare" line against President Barack Obama and
is a major critic of his signature health reform law.

Because he hails from
Wisconsin, an important battleground, Ryan's youthfulness could appeal
to a group that the president enjoys advantages with.

They will attack Paul Ryan to change the discourse; Ryan will have to spend time defending himself instead of debating Biden. The LIBS will like it but they are going down inNovember, so let them revel in it.

Romney needs to tell us WHAT he is going to do, not generalize. Obama is going to get down and dirty; in one sense Romney needs to rise above him but at the same time punch back.

Sharp, well respected. Tilts Wisconsin. Leaves Rubio available for a later run as president, though there's nothing wrong with Ryan ending up in the hot seat.

The only downside I can see is having to restrain Ryan during the debates lest he yield to the temptation of humiliating his delusional opponent.

You just might be right. This whole election may be another Show for the Dump, Stupid Public, just like I think the 2008 election was. If something doesn't change and I hope it does. Romney/Ryan will put a good show and lose.
The real story is that there is no two party system at the national level, except when it came to Obamacare. It's all a shell game and big show for the dump, stupid public.

I am sure that Paul Ryan will help to solidify the social/fiscal conservative vote but I doubt that it will sway many libertarian conservatives who see the GOP RINO bid as representative of ignoring deeper fundamental issues and more of the same anti-American, liberty destroying big gov/big corp crony-cap collusion.

No, Romney and the GOP, as a whole, are big gov RINO's. Ryan is a token VP pick designed to appeal to conservatives.

A token VP pick designed to appeal to conservatives? Did you think he'd pick someone designed to appeal to liberals? Thank you, Capt. Obvious.

Sure, he could have very well snubbed consevatives completely and picked someone more inline with McCain and his own liberal record but thanks for playing Capt Myopic.

Excellent pick. This puts the emphasis of this campaign where it belongs! On the ECONOMY! There were several good candidates for Romney to consider and none of them were bad choices. Ryan is going to add to the credibility already established by Romney himself!

At the same time, the Ryan pick delivers a kill shot to Obama's economic narrative and his attacks on the Ryan budget plan.

When Democrats demand Ryan explain his budget, he simply declines until Obama puts forth his budget plan. End game! Obama knows as soon as he puts forth a plan, he'll be subject to ridicule. If it's a good plan, the House will pass it--which he clearly would not want.
