Romney Leads Obama By 7 Points...Who Is Your Choice?

Mitt Romney surged to his largest opinion poll lead yet in the presidential race on Friday, two days after President Barack Obama came out in favor of gay marriage.

The GOP challenger reached 50 percent support for the first time in the Rasmussen Reports daily tracking poll. That put him ahead of Obama among likely voters by seven percentage points.

The poll, released on Friday, showed a three-point swing to Romney from the previous day, when Romney had a four-point edge over the president in a head-to-head contest.

Rasmussen’s daily poll is an aggregate of questions asked over three days.
Friday’s covered respondents’ answers on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. As Obama’s same-sex statement was only released on Wednesday afternoon, the results suggest Romney’s lead could grow even larger in the next couple of days.

Rasmussen attributed the growing shift towards Romney to more than just the gay marriage issue. “It comes a week after a disappointing jobs report that raised new questions about the state of the economy,” the company said as it released the results.

Romney has been leading in both Rasmussen’s daily poll and another tracking poll run by Gallup for around a week, Gallup’s was standing at three points, 47 percent to 44 percent on Thursday. However other polls, not done on a daily basis, have mainly given the edge to Obama.

The Rasmussen poll moved the RealClearPolitics average of all polls conducted over the past two weeks to a single percentage point lead for Obama, proving how close the race has become.

Obama announced his support for gay marriage in an interview with ABC’s Robin Roberts. It came after both vice president Joe Biden and education secretary Arne Duncan announced they too were in favor earlier in the week.

Tbh, I predicted this would happen as Obama was a fool to give an interview before the North Carolina vote when he desperately needs that state.

But Rasmussen isn't the only poll revealing Obama on the decline and Romney rising as Gallup shows Romney just 1pt behind now when last week Obama supporters were crowing because Romney looked like he was falling behind by double digits http://www.gallup.com/poll/15... . Other opinion polls are also revealing a steep drop as RealClearPolitics reveals http://www.realclearpolitics.... as Romney is clearly rising and Obama falling.

Then you have things like this http://www.realclearpolitics.... Where Obama admits he forgets the magnitude of the recession... he is self destructing but if Romney would quit his own self destructive trends, he could do a lot more to capitalize.

Romney now is only 1.4% behind Obama even with the polls favorable to Obama as RCP is not yet up to date on all the polls from the past few days after Obama expressed support for gay marriage.

He will not win over states he didn't win in 2008... but Obama will lose states like North Carolina and Virginia if he does not stop pandering to the political left as these states are not leftwing and he must have them to win in 2012.

uh, no. there's a one point difference as of today. that's well within sampling error range. this race is anybody's at the moment.

what IS showing at a 4 point lead, however, is Obama's approval rating. not great shakes but it is in the positive column.

what I find interesting is the fact that you cited Gallup - - virtually the only poll besides the decidedly biased Rasmussen to show Romney in the lead. well, Rasmussen and FOX - - color me shocked.

OOOHHH come on! How can Romney be ahead of anyone? I never voted for Obama - but I feel I have to this time around to prevent the Regressives from dismantling this country any further.

Romney was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and has never worked a day in his life to achieve anything. He is part of a religious crazy group and can't even identify enough with commoners to thank them for a cookie.

Yeah - good luck with Mittens. "Corporations are people too, my friend!"

Unfortunately for you ETPro, it is true and it's not the only one as the polls are revealing Obama shot himself in the foot giving that recorded interview knowing if North Carolina voted no on gay marriage it would hurt him. He has now also gotten himself caught in another snafu where he admitted he sometimes forgets the magnitude of the recession.

Gallup now has Obama ahead by only one point and other polls coming out now are revealing Obama is either behind or clinging to a very small lead. This was for Obama what admitting he knew nothing about economics did to McCains campaign in 2008.

If Obama doesn't get his foot out of his mouth and use his braid to think with... you're backing a horse that will actually put Romney in the White House no matter how many lies Romney tells.

This is why I support Ron Paul... the other two candidates are fools with no leadership ability doing nothing trying to win by telling us how bad the other side is, getting caught in obvious lies and making the same promises we've heard them make a million times before.

Ron Paul we know has leadership ability, is the only candidate in the race who served in the military, who has been a doctor and who has true working knowledge of our nations problems. He is intelligent and he has support from almost every g...

Ron Paul we know has leadership ability, is the only candidate in the race who served in the military, who has been a doctor and who has true working knowledge of our nations problems. He is intelligent and he has support from almost every group in this country where Obama and Romney are right vs left and if you examine their voting records... Romneys the leftwinger and Obama's the rightwinger.

We are truly that blind as a nation when we support political candidates whose voting record makes them look like they represent the opposition.

Romney may be a businessman but when he paid off Massachusetts debt without raising taxes, he raised the price of everything else causing inflation and leaving office too unpopular to have been re elected. Frankly, I would rather pay higher taxes to pay off a debt than have the cost of living permanently increased since you can always lower taxes but the cost of living cannot so easily be reversed.

If you support Obama, you don't have to vote for Romney to get him into the White house, Obama's stupid enough to give Romney the win unless Americans wake the hell up and vote for Ron Paul instead.

I know you support Obama ETPro but I also know you're not an idiot as you see Obama's screwing you and everyone who supports him. If you don't want Romney in the White House, Ron Paul may be your only way to stop that because Obama's self destructing faster than a dog who just got skunked.

The president leads by 7 in the Reuters poll. In the swing states that decide elections the president has a big lead over Romney in all the averages except FL were they are tied. Rasmussen got 2010 right, 2008 wrong and has been off the average of polls by 5 points for over a year.
