I recall taking a drive with the wife once and she commented negatively on the nice, expensive houses on the hillside we were passing. There was an air of envy in her criticism of the lifestyle of the owners. I pointed out the fact that most likely the mortgages owed on the homes were higher than the cost of our present home. I also reminded her that the American Dream was still open to any who wanted to reach for it. Envy is definitely alive and well--sour grapes stories abound, but they don't pay off like hard work and ingenuity does.

Who would you think should be paid more based upon education and effort made to achieve their position ....(both are honorable and needed jobs) Don't start with the not everyone had a chance for an education crap either because for the last 30 years if a student worked hard in high school and made good grades and was willing to continue working hard they had a chance to be anything they wanted

You deny that there have been scholarships, grants, and loans for students who made good grades in high school to get further education?

You deny that a surgeon should be paid more than a laborer?

If we are talking about 2 people with equal education and experience and one is paid more than the other....then that's income inequality. The above is not

I'll acknowledge that but in many cases the surgeon is paying back the loans for 10 years. I have a friend that is ready to go into private practice and owes more than 300K in loans he had to take. He will pay the price for his success for many years and deserves the rewards once the price is paid. I also acknowledge that many were given free passes because of who their father and mother were and that certainly isn't right.

Romney is right on target with this comment and I am living proof of it. So are millions of other Americans that own small businesses and succeed or work hared and get promoted. Playing victim gets you no where in life.

How is it you think I live in la la land when I own three successful small businesses, employ people and make a decent living? I know at least a hundred people who are doing the same in my small town. Most of them belong to the Chamber of Commerce and work hard, dream big and yes, we have been fortunate. Remember, about 89% of Americans are still working hard even with 11% unemployment.

the real unemployment figure is over 25 % ,wake up. millions of americans have no jobs because they have been outsourced. thats living in la la land when you refuse to see the obvious. our country has changed from a manufacturing base to a consumer base. can't consume if you don't have a job because it was taken from you ,now can you?

I can agree with you regarding the outsourcing of jobs. I don't think it helps our country. You sure don't need to get testy with me. I would like nothing better than to see Americans gainfully employed by the private sector. Where is unemployment at 25%? Somebody better send those stats to the White House.
