Unemployment in Sweden is now around 8% which somewhat better than in US where some states have it between 10% to 15% but is three times as it was in 1991.

In my opinion Swedish style socialism survives as long as it does because it has small population count on a large territory. Things are changing rapidly as the immigration from third world countries increases and becomes a burden on the welfare state.

To answer your question directly. NO, Sweden is not communist. Its social programs are in fact supported by capitalist system that is freer than that in the USA.
Don't make mistake of assuming that Swedish Socialists are the same ideologically as American socialists and communists.

In Sweden and Denmark they have strong worker protection, universal health care, a strong public education, low ceo pay (comparatively) and higher corporate taxes, yet they have better test scores, lower infant mortality rates, higher standards of living (which they do for longer lifespans) and are better in any measurable way for most of their people. They don't have death camps and they're not marching with Stalin to Gulags... Your argument is not valid.

So is Greece, Spain and Italy and they have to bailed out time and again. It works until such time that nations like Germany will eventually run out of money and patience. When the economy in Europe collapse because American economy collapses or they do first and pull us under. things may go down to hell quickly. The Greeks had been bailed out because they were on the verge of massive civil unrest.
