It's more damning that he claims not to know why his money is in Switzerland, Bermuda, and the Grand Cayman Islands than if he'd simply admitted he was avoiding taxes.
He's not just politically stupid, he's either financially stupid (he's not) or terribly dishonest.
Romney Claims Ignorance Of Own Finances

One of the few times it seems that Mitt Romney is telling the truth about anything is when he claims to be ignorant. He has an economic policy that amounts to "let's do what failed the last time we tried it", he's stunned into silence by such technological marvels as touch screens and cheese grits, and he thinks shipping jobs to China isn't outsourcing but opening an office in Omaha, Nebraska is. But now it seems that even when Mitt Romney claims to be ignorant, it's just another lie. And so the Make America Fail Because Barack Obama Is President brigade is left with a tough choice - do you want a completely ignorant President, or do you want a liar. George Bush demonstrated what disaster can follow when someone who is both takes office. Surely even the Republicans don't want another George Bush in the White House.

Romney Claims Ignorance Of Own Finances

In an interview this week with Radio Iowa, Romney proclaimed not to know about his own financial holdings. From his attacks on President Obama's economic policy, came this revealing gem from the presidential hopeful:
"I understand and you understand, of course, that my investments have been held by a blind trust, have been managed by a trustee. I don't manage them – don't even know where they are."
If you are to believe this, Mr. Romney has not a clue as to how his finances are being managed, they are just held for him and managed for him without any oversight. Perhaps they are being used to finance drug smuggling operations out of El Salvador, or perhaps they are the financial backing behind the Iranian nuclear program. He would have no idea, and by the sounds of things, he does not really care that much either. Later on, he also said:
"That trustee follows all U.S. laws, all the taxes are paid as appropriate. All of them have been reported to the government. There's nothing hidden there, there's nothing."
This of course is the false argument that just because something is legal it is the correct thing to do. At one time, owning another human being was legal. At one time, women being denied the right to vote was legal. At one time, blocking a person of African decent from drinking from the same water fountain as white people was legal. If the blind trustee is engaging in behavior which is by a technical definition legal, but causes severe harm to the nation, such as investments in companies which engage in fracking or in promoting sexism, Willards willful ignorance of his assets will not protect him.
Something to consider is that the Romney campaign has been based in large part on his financial success in the business field. But, if he is so successful, then why is he not even aware of what he actually possesses? Is that someone you wish to be President, a man who cannot even keep track as to where his money even is? How can we trust him with the nations finances when he cannot be responsible with his own?
Or, is it as Paul Krugman suggests, that he is hiding it because he actually does know what is in his portfolio, and the truth would destroy him politically. Krugman also made a very interesting note, that Mr Romney has an Individual Retirement Account which may be worth up to $101 million, which is interesting because an IRA is limited to no more than $6000 per year.
Now, it is common for many politicians to utilize blind trusts to ensure that there is no conflict of interest between their policy and their financial interest. It is not universal, as some in Congress have used their connections to improve their fortunes in the past. A person running for office with heavy financial ties, or who are running on their money management skills however, would not traditionally have already set up their blind trusts before having won office. For him to have a blind trust when not active in politics would be even more unusual. Romney's claims of ignorance of his finances, having been a private citizen for over 5 years, is highly suspect.
So, Mr. Romney, we shall ask again, what exactly are you trying to hide?

Romney claims to be the superior candidate, because of his vast knowledge of finance and his expertise that will immediately allow him to put this nation's economic house in order.
And now it turns out that his own finances are controlled by a "blind trust," and he has no idea where his own money is!
For me, that does not inspire confidence in Romney.
He thinks it protects him from evil. And that brings up the question:
Do we really want a President who wears magic underwear?
Do we want the country to go in that direction?
Oh, right, it's Republicans we're talking about . . . .
Show us your income tax records or get the hell out, romney!
By the way, Sarah Palin said Obama "paid millions" to have his records "sealed", not 1 million to have them hidden.
Get your propaganda straight. LOL!
He's not just politically stupid, he's either financially stupid (he's not) or terribly dishonest.
DISHONEST RANT.
You can tell from the first paragraph that the poor writer is just angry, that leads to
LIES TO JUSTIFY YOUR ANGER DEFINED.
Bottom line:...BLIND TRUST.......of course the liberals 8th grade drop out education doesnt allow them to fully understand what a blind trust is and that the investor has no knowledge of the investments or control of them. Most of their mathematical skills probably deal with things such as the exchange rate for selling their food stamps to the corner store.
Let me ask you a straighforward question - why is it that no matter what President Obama produces you folks always stick to the "he's hiding something" argument, yet when Mitt Romney refuses to release his tax returns or any information about his extensive financial holdings you are silent. This is a guy whose claim to be qualified to be President rests on "I was a successful businessman" yet refuses to make known any of the details of how he was "successful".
I am NOT suggesting that Romney has done anything illegal, merely pointing out, as the Right has pointed out a million times or so, that when someone goes to such lengths to keep something hidden there's usually a reason for it.
And how do you explain how a 401(K) that you can only legally contribute $6000 a year to has over $100,000,000 in it?
As I said, I really don't think your qualified to discuss any sort of high finance since you don't even know when the governments fiscal year begins and ends. You better stick to questions that deal with how many apples would John have left if he had 5 and gave Jane 2....it's more in line with your mentality of someone who has worked to have something needs to give it to someone who hasnt.
Yet we have proof that Romney filed personal income taxes every year, yet he refuses to make those income taxes public like Obama has.
I really believe this issue is going to kill his candidacy. Americans love HONEST money making, but they detest cheating. And making money while investing AGAINST your country isn't a sterling recommendation for wanting to lead it.
DOES SCARE ME. Bwaa haa haa and go collect your five cents now.
OH PUH-LEEZE!
