Romney assails Obama on national security

- Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney harshly criticized President Obama's national security strategy yesterday, chastising him for spending billions of dollars to expand social programs at the expense of the military budget, and accusing him of an overseas "tour of apology" that will only embolden violent anti-American extremists.

In a hard-hitting speech designed to build his credentials as commander in chief before a possible second presidential run in 2012, Romney said Obama has made a "grave miscalculation" with budget cuts to a strategic missile defense system that would protect the nation and its allies from nuclear threats.

"Backing away from missile defense and depleting the defense budget to fund new social programs, particularly in the face of global turmoil, would put America and Americans at risk," Romney said, echoing former vice president Dick Cheney's warnings.... Read full article »

yeah...saddam (aka - poo bear) and his boys just wanted to be friends. "trying to get along with the other countries and being friendly is better than invading and going to WAR" only works if BOTH parties agree to to be nice and not kill a zillion of their own citizens, threaten their neighbors, train terrorists or fly big ol' airplanes into skyscrapers.
"Can't we all just get along...?" DOESN'T WORK WITH ISLAMO-NUTS

The much touted missile defense system has been in development for over 20 years and after considerable expense is operational with limited capability since 2006. Meh. We've focussed far too long on the War aspect of Defense. Throwing more money at a mediocre defense program is not the answer. Perhaps focusing on Domestic programs is what it will take to prove to the rest of the world we aren't war-mongering haters out to take over their countries. If they got that, then perhaps Americans wouldn't need to spend so much on Offense. Err, sorry, I mean Defense. Yeah.

Let's go back to some famous ball fumbling by our last two democrat leaders.
    Jimmy Carter:
double digit inflation and interest rates...CETA, his disaster of a jobs program...the Iranian embassy invasion and his joke of a rescue operation.
    Bill Clinton:
A flaccid defense program that succeeded in getting the U.S. attacked more times in 8 years than in all the years since VietNam and set us up for the 9/11 attack.

Whine all you want about katrina. New Orleans was warned for years that their levees were inadequate. They chose to spend the available money on other things.
