Romney Agrees With Obama: Government Does ‘Help You In A Business’

Last week President Obama gave a speech about the value of working together as a community, about how even the most successful businesses do not exist in a vacuum, but achieve their success as the result of contributions of many people along the way, including teachers, firemen, police officers, doctors, and so forth. The Right Wing, predictably, Breitbarted the President's statement to make the false claims that "Obama hates small business" and "Obama wants us to be communists" and one idiot was even blind enough to falsely claim that "Obama thinks government is more important than private businesses." They of course ignore the fact that Obama has cut taxes for small businesses SEVENTEEN TIMES, or that he has proposed tax incentives to get businesses to hire American and stop outsourcing (which the Republicans filibustered, of course).

Of course the Right Wing's attempt #91,234 to attack President Obama for no rational reason failed (as have all the others), but you have to wonder just how delusional these Obama Haters can get when their own candidate AGREES WITH THE PRESIDENT.

Romney Agrees With Obama: Government Does ‘Help You In A Business’

The Romney campaign and conservative bloggers have been feasting on a selectively-edited quote from President Obama to argue that he believes that the government, not business owners, are responsible for the success of their enterprises. Though Obama’s comment — “if you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else did that” — accurately observed that businesses large and small rely on public infrastructure funded by taxpayer dollars, Republicans have used the statement to reinforce their ‘Obama hates businesses’ narrative.

But during a campaign appearance in Ohio on Wednesday, Mitt Romney misquoted Obama, before agreeing that tax payer-funded programs help all American businesses succeed:

ROMNEY: I know that you recognize a lot of people help you in a business. Perhaps the bank, the investors. There is no question your mom and dad, your school teachers. The people who provide roads, the fire, the police. A lot of people help. But let me ask you this. Did you build your business? If you did, raise your hand. Take that Mr. President! This is what’s happening in this country. These people are entrepreneurs.

Romney has proposed deep reductions in government spending and has even said that the nation must “cut back” on firemen, policemen and teachers.

Romney tries to crucify Obama and yet contradicts himself by saying the same thing. Why is this not surprising?

Considering all the tax breaks/subsidies given to business by the government, Romney has no choice but to agree.

I wonder how far he had to dig into the recesses of his addled brain to come to that conclusion. DUH!

Romney said the very same thing Obama said, and no one crucified him for it. They were both right, and now Romney, as usual is flip-flopping.
