Roger Ailes to be Indicted
Last week, the NY Times
broke the story that Roger Ailes had urged various colleagues to lie to
Federal investigators; (David Corn explains the background to this here).
NYT:
“It was an incendiary allegation — and a mystery of great
intrigue in the media world: After the publishing powerhouse Judith
Regan was fired by HarperCollins in 2006, she claimed that a senior
executive at its parent company, News Corporation, had encouraged her to
lie two years earlier to federal investigators who were vetting Bernard
B. Kerik for the job of homeland security secretary . . .Now, court documents filed in a lawsuit make clear whom Ms. Regan was
accusing of urging her to lie: Roger E. Ailes, the powerful chairman of
Fox News and a longtime friend of Mr. Giuliani. What is more, the
documents say that Ms. Regan taped the telephone call from Mr. Ailes in
which Mr. Ailes discussed her relationship with Mr. Kerik.”
Here’s what I learned recently: Someone I spoke with claimed that
Ailes was scheduled to speak at their event in March, but canceled. It
appears that Roger’s people, ostensibly using a clause in his contract,
said he “cannot appear for legal reasons.”
I asked “What, precisely, does that mean?”
The response: “Roger Ailes will be indicted — probably this week, maybe even Monday.”

+1Why would anyone be surprised about this indictment? Isn't lying what Roger Ailes and FOX News do best? I'm ready to bet serious money that all of the rightie-tight-asses on SH will try to spin this as the Obama Administration’s attempt to shut down the open and free press. And, yes, you are correct to assume that this would be the very same liberal media that the rightie-tight-asses themselves perpetually accuse of lying. Ah, the irony is so thick you could almost cut it with Glenn Becks head.reply - Vicki 2011/03/01 05:54:55
+1I hope he is indicted. We have people told to lie all the time by the GOP. If there is any honesty at all left in the right wing extremists who have driven out of office all the moderates and honest republicans it is at an all time minimum. The truth does not concern very many republican politicians or their contributors.reply - captkirk999 2011/02/27 23:53:08
+1HAHAHAHA Sounds like good news to me. I am sure he will buy his way out of this but it is cool anyway.reply - ProudProgressive 2011/02/27 20:39:29
+4One can only hope. Unfortunately, one of the few things that the Obama Administration has gotten wrong is their inexplicable reluctance to prosecute those members of the previous administration who spent so much time doing so many illegal things. I can certainly understand why George Bush was afraid to visit Switzerland. At least THEY prosecute war criminals.reply -
