Rodney King, the victim of an infamous incident of police brutality in 1991, was found dead at the bottom of his swimming pool Sunday morning. According to police, there are no signs of foul play, and the death is being ruled as accidental. It will take six to eight weeks for toxicology reports to come through. He was 47 years old at the time of his death.
The 1991 brutality incident made national headlines when a bystander sent in video footage, and the aquittal of three of the officers contributed to the beginning of the 1992 Los Angeles riots. Earlier this year, King told The Times, "I sometimes feel like I'm caught in a vise. Some people feel like I'm some kind of hero. Others hate me. They say I deserved it. Other people, I can hear them mocking me for when I called for an end to the destruction, like I'm a fool for believing in peace." Do you think King was an civil rights icon?
How is it unfortunate when he created the circumstances?
Does this willful ignorance work in everyday life for you as well? Lets pretend you work for an architect. You've been given the task to draw up the blueprints for a VIP client. The deadline arrives and your not ready. The boss is mad and asks for an explanation. You say, "at least I didn't blow up the clients house"! Will you remain employed?
There's a huge problem with this way of thinking! Try it next time you get pulled over for speeding. Tell the officer, "at least I'm not trying to kill you!" Get back to me with how that works out!
There's a problem with your way of thinking, namely such that your little scenario doesn't compare too this situation.
Willful ignorance - YES EXACTLY Rodney King willfully ignored the police and was willfully drunk and willfully running from the police and willfully charging at officers who were still allowing King to surrender without a fight which led to the "will" of King being taken away from him! Kings "will" was NOT for peace! He didn't care about "getting along" until his "will" was to be rich and to fuel the racial fire.
It's no surprise you defend him! You both want to be victims of racism! Get over the color of you skin... everyone else has!
My scenario is the scenario you presented! In essence you just admitted there is a problem with YOUR way of thinking! You added further evidence for this by way of your response!

Keep the race fire burning but when you get burned, remember you're the one pouring the gasoline!
The fire would burn even better with pure alcohol! But then everyone would realize what you're really up to. It's not as fun being a bigot racist when everyone knows it, is it?
Just arrest him! Spend one day in the shoes of an LAPD officer and you will come to learn thats exactly what they did...despite Kings efforts to avoid being arrested.
It took 5 armed men because, unlike King who was willing to do whatever he had to to avoid arrest, these officers refrained from doing whatever they could to stop King. Otherwise only one officer would have been needed and King would have been dead along time ago! Remember, all 5 were armed!
Ad Hominem does nothing to help your position!
"He's dead now drop it."
I didn't ask the question or force you to answer it... drop it? You're not good with defeat are you?
"5 cops can't arrest man?"
Yes they can. Thats what this is all about remember? Like I said, one could have handled it, but it took 5 because King wasn't cooperative!
"You're like a rabid Pit Bull."
Wrong again. The man you defend, was an example of a rabid pit bull! Apparently, I'm too aggressive but King was not! Strange world you live in!
Your childhood was a bit different, by your own admission. You were taught to run. You were left no option but to run. Respecting others isn't necessary! Your mother taught you that accountability only factors in, if your caught. King got caught!
Who caught him? Those who you call "thugs and punks" Have you ever wondered why you see cops in this light? If so, you might consider asking your mom.
You also wrongfully assume I was in gangs growing up! I'm unsure as to how you arrive at such a ridiculous assumption but if I had to guess, I'd guess your childhood included gang membership.
Heres the best part... You disagree with my efforts to defend the cops involved and attribute my support to those things which shaped YOUR childhood, not mine, yet fail to realize our difference in opinion, destroys your point. By your logic, YOU should hold the same view I do.
Fallacies do not cease to be fallacies because they become fashions.
My childhood? Both parents, married (over 40yrs now) same house, same goals, worked together, loved eachother as well as us and showed it, always disciplined, spankings, mouth slaps, soap in the mouth, a 2 foot wooden paddle, groundings, loss of privileges,e etc... I WOULDN'T WANT IT ANY OTHER WAY!
If you have kids, you can see what happens when discipline consists of talking about it and no real punishment! Watch what happens to the level of respect shown! Do nothing as far as discipline goes, and the result is "All of these mass shootings, etc."
Your pathetic in your need to fuel the racial fire! GIVE IT A REST! Or should I say, black people never do that. Bigotry is out! If you wanna make this black vs white, we can. However, based on the facts (prison populations, crime statistics etc) I wouldn;t recommend it! Those "white parents" you mention, evidently are doing something that works!
Get over the color of your skin and look at the color of your heart! I bet it matches mine!
I will not continue to correspond if you choose to make this "BLACK VS WHITE" conversation. Take care!
You are not worth my time! You are not worth my time. I was 13 when it happened. I've had 21 years to form an opinion and review the information. From my parents roof top, the burning buildings were visible. You can try to rationalize your ignorance and prejudice any way you like. The problem however, is that if I was or am too young, then it can also be argued that you are now too old to recall the events that took place 21 yrs ago.
When you lose it, theres no getting it back! Take care!
Listen to your children, they know whats best for you now!

You have it backwards,
"Just read it, don't write back because I won't respond."
THEN
"That is your immaturity showing"
Plug your ears and close your eyes. Cuz thats not the way of the ignorant at all!

Last week, a Fox News station in Baltimore, Maryland, received a surveillance video showing a Prince County, Maryland, cop beating a teenager in the head with a gun.
Ryan Dorm had not committed a crime, but despite this the cops considered him and a friend suspicious. The two men were wearing ski masks while buying food at a gas station on Perry Street in Brentwood, Maryland. Dorm later said he was wearing a ski mask because it was cold.
Corporal Donald Taylor said Dorm had assaulted him and his gun went off as he struggled with Dorm. The surveillance video, released after Dorm had spent months in prison, reveals what has now become routine – the cop lied and an innocent man spent time in prison.
Taylor was indicted after the video was made public. He faces misconduct, reckless endangerment and second-degree assault charges. Dorm’s lawyer, Jimmy Bell, has filed a $10 million dollar civil lawsuit in the case.

Unfortunately, Maryland tax payers will end up paying for the psychopathic behavior of Donald Taylor. He should have never been hired as a policeman. Police need to be rigorously tested for signs of psychopathy and sadism.
Cops who assault citizens without reason should be immediately fired and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Prosecuting and incarcerating violent cops will help make sure other cops know such unacceptable behavior will go punished. Infowars
FACTS & FIGURES
An increasing number of incidents where U.S. police forces use excessive force against American citizens is causing anti-police sentiment across the nation.
In late August, a startling video that went viral on internet showed two Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers snatching a female driver and violently slamming her body into the ground - twice. The woman's alleged offense? Talking on her cell phone while driving and, subsequently, resisting arrest. As a result of the trauma, Michelle Jordan, 34, sustained intensive bruising and other related blemishes and injuries. Prison Planet
Also in August, Chavis Carter, a 21-year-old Mississippi man, was found shot to death in the back of a Jonesboro Police Department squad car. Arkansas police report concluded that Carter who was searched twice by officers before being handcuffed behind his back shot himself in the head in the back of the squad car.
The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating at least five officers after one of them allegedly stomped on a woman’s genitals and she later died of suffocation. Raw Story

I can't call King an "agitator", because he didn't agitate anything. The man himself called for PEACE, for crying out loud. And while he became a symbol of police brutality and bigotry, he isn't exactly worthy of the title "icon" either. So, the parameters here are ridiculous. The man was an alcoholic who did things some alcoholics do. He sought treatment, more than once, and still met an early and tragic end. But most people are going to paint him and his life with their own racial attitudes, like they do everything else.
