While many people who belong to the GOP truly are racist I do not believe them to be in the majority. However we can be aware of the fact that the Republican Party is full of people who were at one time Democrats but bolted the Dems over desegregation. Those were Democratic jeers and spit that was aimed at the black population. It was Democratic administrations who balked at desegregating the schools and universities. However when LBJ signed the Civil Right Act he admitted then that the Democrats had lost the South for at least a generation or more. Meaning of course that those vehemently racist politicians jumped over to the Republican Party to placate the angry mobs and keep their jobs. So now days we are dealing with that Republican Party still who tread very carefully lest the anger the mobs again.

The Republicans like to make a big deal out of saying the the Congress has been controlled by Democrats for many years. What they fail to admit that many of those Democrats were hold overs from a very racist era. We used to call the Dixiecrats but the new term these days is Blue Dog Dems. Meaning that although they run on the Democratic ticket the vote more often with the Republicans in Congress. Knowing that makes us understand that even Obama in his first term did not in actual fact have a majority in Congress. There were enough Blue Dogs that he had a very difficult time getting any thing done even then.
While there are a lot of them this doesn't mean that the whole is. This would be over generalization of the whole group. There is enough evidence to say that there are some but not enough at least for me to say ALL.
