Rick Santorum Ends His Campaign: Were You Rooting for Him?

We're just seven months away from the 2012 election, and until now the Republican primary has still been a variable. Now Rick Santorum, the only other candidate capable of winning the nomination (though it would have taken a miracle), pulled the plug on his candidacy, essentially handing the nomination over to Mitt Romney. He made the announcement in Gettysburg, PA, on Tuesday.

During a news conference, Santorum said "I met a lot of folks I will never forget ... I want to thank all of you for what you have given ... which is a voice to those who, in many cases, are voiceless ... Against all odds, we won 11 states, millions of votes ..." But then Santorum went on to deliver the bad news to his supporters. "We made a decision over the weekend that, well, this presidential race is over for me, and we will suspend our campaign effective today." Still, Santorum maintains that he's "not done fighting" and he will "continue to fight for those voices." Were you rooting for Rick Santorum in the upcoming 2012 presidential election?

No, nor Mitt either, or any of the other candidates.

    Hell NO, on the Obummer!

Hard to believe America has no better candidates to run for getting the worst President OUT of the W.H.

I agree. I now have to do a write in because I refuse to vote for the other 3.

A vote not for the (R) is a vote for Obama.

You are going to have to in the general election. Or concede the election to Barrack Obama. I know that isn't palatable, but it is a fact!

I'd rather more evil be elected than to concede to vote for evil. When we fall in line for the lesser of 2 evils we are playing evil's game. To be a light to the world we must not compromise those values which can not be compromised, just to avoid what we might believe would be a worse situation which would be benefiting our selfish desires to avoid the greater pain.

I don't look at electing a lesser of too evils as voting for evil. I view it as self preservation. We might possibly live to fight another day! We need to involve ourselves more then just during elections. We need to be constantly holding the feet of our elected leaders to the fire!

We do need to involve ourselves more than just elections. Oh I have a verse for you.

    Luke 9:24
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.

My trust is in God! I know eventually, we will lose our liberties in this nation. But ultimately, I am free because I have been set free by Jesus Christ. I do not fear what men can do to me. I fear him who can destroy both body and soul!

I refuse to vote out of self preservation. A vote for self preservation is a vote made out of fear. I must vote for what is right. If that means that I vote for someone that has no chance of winning so be it. If the majority cannot vote for someone who is good for the country then the majority deserves the repercussions of that vote. Without learning from those repercussions they will never learn. Just look at how easily people have accepted the slow degradation of this country over the years. If we allow it to continue slowly it will not turn around. Think of the frog in a boiling pot analogy.

I know what you are saying. But, I am but a pilgrim on a journey here. This world is only a temporary place until my eternal hoe. I'm only fighting to retain the right to practice my faith as I see fit. If they take that away, I'll continue to serve God like Daniel. Then, they can decide how they will handle me!

I'm with you there. However I have made a list of things I am unwilling to compromise. Santorum is the only one that fits within those parameters so even though he wasn't conservative enough for my taste I was willing to vote for him.

That is the attitude that has enabled elected officials, to place America, 16 trillion dollars, in debt and deficit! Now, we are confronted with the greatest threat to America, in its young history. We need a doctor, to perform surgery on our bloated government and it's corporatism and cronyism.

I didn't support his campaign, but I was kinda hoping he'd split the GOP vote enough for it to lead to a brokered convention.

His being in the running did nothing but hurt the Republican party, so much to the extent that I feel they've handed President Obama another term.

Isn't this what Romney and he have been doing at nights and on weekends to each other for the past few months? Oh yeah, and they want to do it to the middle class and lower socio-economic class as well for the next 8 years.
