Imagine that Ron Paul continues the fight all the way into the National Convention in Tampa (as he promised). The delegates that originally were promised to Newt or Santorum side with Paul and as such robs Romney from getting the 1,144 delegates necessary to win the GOP nomination outright. On top of that, Paul surprisingly wins the brokered convention and goes on to take on Obama. What outcome would you rather have?

A few donations does not mean a majority of veterans support him. I don't think there is any group where he has a majority of support, except Paul supporters :)

Have you seen any data that proved Ron Paul isn't the largest percentage of active military duty and veterans whom political donations are given?
  • Starman James 2012/05/08 22:32:05
    Starman
No, but it seems HIGHLY improbable. The responsibility to provide supporting data falls on those making a claim. So where is Barry Shelton's evidence.

You can tell the desperation of a poster by the age of the data they quote. The link you provided was for 4Q2011 data. The link I provided was to a 2012 study by the Center for Responsive Politics, a nonpartisan group that tracks political donations.

Regardless of the fact, it's no surprise that those who report the news want to put the best spin for Obama. Even in 2010 was this pointed out:

How do we know that the integrity of those who report the facts aren't biased themselves?

Go ahead....read what I just said REALLY hard...

Both Romney and Obama are one of the same. There is no real difference between the two. Both individuals will tell you everything you want to hear and will drive us officially off the cliff. We will finally know what the Russians experienced back in 1990.

My my aren't we an over confident little Obot. As I said before, ANY one of the Rep hopefuls would, by far and away, be a much better choice then that lying socialist failure Obama. But, you keep cheering for the current dictator in chief.

You RWNJs throw around the term "socialist" so easily. If you new anything about political philosophy you realize that the major US parties are solidly libritarian. Makes you sound ignorant.

LOL...considering he is the incumbent, how could I not? If Ron Paul defeats Mitt in the primary in a brokered convention, he would have to face Obama in the general election. I think if Ron Paul loses in the general election, all hell would break loose.

I'm pretty much down the line with Ron Paul. If it happens that Obama does win, I guess I can swallow four more years unless he gets impeached or he resigns ala Nixon style. But, as for my faith in the election, it's all for Paul. Thank you.

No....Thank YOU...just remember, Romney is the projected winner, but Paul is catching up in the delegate department; especially with the removal of 2 contenders and the fact that many Romney delegates are actually Ron Paul supporters.

If Paul were the nominee, I suspect that many on the ABO right would actually bite their tongues and vote for Obama just so the paranoid fanatics could keep their penny wise pound foolish foreign and domestic wars. Lord knows the world would end if we weren't locking up non-violent people, turning over every rock in the ME or happen to cut one 20k toilet from the defense budget.

Actually it's a lie. I'd probably stay home.

RP is great on domestic stuff but he truly is insane on international geo-politics.

IF RP wins the nomination, he'll lose bigtime to Obama only because he doesn't have the balls to standup to Obama. And he has that little Muslim problem too.

There is a war going on in the Republican Party. It's between Neocons who've dominated the party for quite some time and Libertarians who just don't want to move out. Ron Paul is picking up plenty of disenfranchised '08 Obama supporters as well as the military. RP is also outmaneuvering Romney with picking up delegates from Santorum, Gingrich, and his own camp. Yes you heard that right. Some Romney delegates are actually Ron Paul supporters in disguise. They could "abstain" their votes in the initial nomination vote which would lead off into a brokered convention.

For many years I've wanted the Rebublicans to shift further toward Libertarianism.

However, it borders on delusional to think all those stars are going to line up and result in a RP victory over Obama. If RP and his supporters could just lose the fanatacism, and add their flavour to the overall Conservative effort to defeat this tyrannical Marxist left, it will be our best bet for survival.

We're talking about surviving a Marxist domination that could very well be so devastating it would take decades to tear it down. Hard core Paulites are talking about taking their political football and throwing it through every window in the convention hall if they don't get their way.

lol maybe that's what this country needs. Isn't it surprising how complacent we are despite more and more of our liberties are being taken away for our own safety? An establishment Republican is no better than an establishment Democrat. In some way, shape, or form, they both love war, welfare, and big government; the three major parasites that are sucking this country dry.

    Fully agreed.

It sucks to be in a position of picking-your-poison ... again! I'm just not willing to jump in and let Obama do another fours years as a teaching tool, though. In four years, I'm certain there will be blood in the streets. Hell, it looks like it might just come this summer, yet.

Have you heard the news that Santorum and Gingrich delegates are switching allegiances over to Ron Paul? It's all over the news (not the mainstream news). It's also been reported that many Romney delegates are actually Ron Paul supporters. It could be quite possible that Ron Paul can get the nomination the same way Warren G. Harding did with his 7% of the GOP vote back in 1920.
