Republicans Need To Fight Apegate

Someone recently wanted to know what I thought about the whole Google-and-Michelle-Obama-is-an-ape incident or as I like to call it, Apegate.

It’s disgusting and racist and more Republicans need to take a stand.

Despite what Democrats want everyone to believe, not all Republicans have a pair of white sheets in their closets, next to their funny 6-foot-tall lowercase T’s.

But it does no good to deny that many on the right are just a tad racist, which is like saying that Hitler was a bit uncomfortable around Jews.

Showing black Americans as apes has to end. No, I’m not calling for the Apegate image to be taken down because as repulsive as it is, it’s still free speech. Because once you take that down, there will be more restrictions on how we can express ourselves.

However, we need to respect President Obama and the First Lady. This doesn’t mean we should agree with everything they say nor does it mean we should blindly accept Obama’s policies if we don’t agree with them.

It means showing our elected leader and all black Americans proper respect. Because we have a strong history with black Americans, after all, it was Republican Abe Lincoln who freed the slaves. So don’t allow these inbreds ruin our good name and give Democrats more ammunition.

And I was just getting to you guys too. You Democrats don’t get to stand there, wagging your finger disapprovingly. You people would call an albino support group racist. You guys don’t have a good track record either and I’m not even going to bother flying that tired old “Robert ‘KKK’ Byrd” victory flag.

Remember during last year’s election when Obama supporter Ron Havens of New York made a Halloween display of a KKK-hooded Sen. John McCain chasing the then senator?

Or when even Obama pulled out the race card and accused then President Bush and McCain that they will use race against him when they didn’t? Remember how The New York Times kicked McCain down when he was trying to defend himself from Obama’s attack?

For a group who says that stereotyping is bad, a lot of you Democrats sure do take pleasure saying how all Republicans are racists. But unjustly labeling a whole group is not helping race relations either.

Back to the Republicans, you have to tell these racist RINOs that depicting blacks as apes is wrong. It will have a greater impact coming from you than it would coming from the left.

It’s true that both parties have amusingly depicted Bush or former President Bill Clinton as monkeys. But black Americans have been unfairly and racially shown as simple monkeys for far too long and not many will see it in the same comical light any time soon.

To imagine otherwise is as ridiculous as saying that Michael Moore isn’t liberal enough.

I am so sick of the race issue when it comes to the Obama's. They can dish it out but can't take it.

And I have NO respect for Hussein or that Wart he is attached to. I can't stand them.

When will the Democrats step up to the plate and apologize for referring to Dr. Rice as an Aunt Jamima... Michael Steele as an Oreo...Clarence Thomas as an Uncle Tom...Alan Keyes as a House N*gger and a Porch Monkey? When will the democrats apologize for calling Todd and Sarah Palin's daughter a W*ore and S*ut? If one is going to be fair why isn't Obama's mother referred to as a W*ore and a S*ut. She was 16 and unwed and pregnant with the Anointed One as a teenager DUH. Why was it OK for the Democrats to post photos of President Bush as a monkey/Chimp? I don't like it on either side of the aisle but to believe that only Republican's are racist is simply not true. Let me remind those who use the race card constantly. It took a REPUBLICAN President to Free the Slaves and it was the Republicans who fought to end segregation in the 50's and 60's. If the Obama's can't take the criticism then perhaps the Political arena is not for them. When he gets attacked as much as Palin let me know.

"it was Republican Abe Lincoln who freed the slaves"

Its not like Lincoln wanted so much to free the slaves, he did this to perserve the Union. He didn't care about them, what he wanted to do was sent them back to Afrika. And he still thought that the white man was better than... It was the North who freed the slaves, not the Republicans. The southern Republicans & southern Democrats were both equally racist.....

First off, "Apegate" has nothing to do with political affiliation.
This blog could also call on all independants to stand up against fat jokes and disparaging remarks about people's mothers.
Second off, has anyone tried doing a google image search on ANY public figure? No disrespect to the first lady, but more offensive images of uglier and prettier celebrities have and will continue to circulate the web. When an image like this appears before more flattering images, it's generally a reflection of how well liked the celeb is, and not necessarily an indication that the world has turned against an entire race of people.

If you want to see purely rosey images of the first family in all their flawless glory, one might suggest visiting the whitehouse.gov photo galleries.

If the point being made here is that there are Americans that are racists and hateful, then I think we all know that as reality. I fear America has not progressed nearly as far as we want to believe and discrimination by the majority is again acceptable by too many. Political parties aside, America is still a repressive society where the majority discriminates against minorities....

Well, WankerBait, I have to disagree with you there. America has made great improvements in the last 40 years with our race relations. So well in fact that we elected a half black man as president.

In addition, not all Americans are racists and hateful but the majority discriminating against minorities can be found in other countries, not just in America.

    Thank you for stopping by.

Wait, isn't Senator Robert Byrd a Democrat? You know, the ex-member of the KKK who wrote the following to the Grand Wizard "The Klan is needed today as never before and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia and in every state in the nation."

Right, I remember now......it was Democrat Senator Byrd, Democrat Al Gore Sr., and about 20+ other Democrats who were opposed to and filibustered the Civil Rights Act of 1964. They don't teach that in government school do they? That's because the Democrats have been the Party of Racism since their inception. Go check out the Presidency of Woodrow Wilson if you want to see some real scary racist stuff, he even supported eugenics.

Oh yeah, and Abraham Lincoln was a Republican, was he not? He did that whole emancipation thingy. I'm pretty sure they taught that in government school.

Abe lincoln would not recognize the republican party of today.
And if you're implying that there are no democrat racists you must have missed the whole PUMA thing about a year ago.
Don't be an idiot and try to argue that the party opposed to civil rights and illegal immigration is the party of open mindedness.

Uhhhh.....the party who opposed civil rights was the Democrat Party! You went to government school didn't you? FYI, it's the same Party who has kept the poor and underprivileged under their thumb for the past 70 years, the same Party who continues to promise them a way out but never delivers.

How come the cities that have the very worst poverty rates in the United States have been under Democrat leadership for 94% of the time over the past 50+ years? Detroit, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Miami, St. Louis, MO, etc. etc. 50+ years under Democrat control and they have the top poverty rate??? Sounds like Progressives have found the magic formula!

And you think the Democrats are the party of change? Yeah, they take your change and give it to big corporations after promising to take care of the poor and underprivileged......meanwhile, the poor and underprivileged are sitting there brainwashed waiting for their Obama money. Wake up and smell what you're shovelin'!!! Conservatives understand the lies of big government and that's why WE give our own money to churches, charities, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, etc. What percentage did you give last year? How much of your spare time did you give? Oh that's right, you don't give, instead you make sure everyone else gives s...

FYI, EVERYONE should be against illegal immigration.......notice the word "illegal". I'll spell it out for you since you're having trouble. Immigration = good, Illegal Immigration = bad.

And one last thing to leave you with.......John F. Kennedy wouldn't be allowed in the Democrat Party today, he would be considered too conservative!

That is a great post. Republicans need to rebuild the image that was tarnished by Palins "who is he" mudslinging. This last years campaign set monority/republican relations back twenty years. Truly the far right is trying to control the party and that only serves to make them look racist and backwards.

What happened to electing a black president being the end of racism? Cries of racism are more rampant now than ever before. Google has apologized and taken the picture down and I don't believe there are a lot of people out there who honestly think of Michelle Obama as a monkey. A liberally brainwashed moron who needed her husband to be elected president before she could feel pride in her country, yes. But definately not a monkey.

Funny how you criticize Dems for stereotyping republicans as racist when the underlying message of your post is just that.

Claiming republicans have some responsibility for google's actions because of your percieved thier transgressions is an empty argument.

Your argument assumes that Republicans need to address every indescretion committed against the President which implies they are complicite.

No, I'm just saying that if Republicans see any of their own kind making racist statements against the president that they should stand up to them. It's that simple.

Because there are members of the Republican party that are racist and that isn't what the party is about.

And to be fair, I did mentioned that Democrats are guilty of stereotyping and being racist.

    Thanks for stopping by!
