They have been abusing the senate rules to no end & holding back the American Economic Recovery for their own political gain. This exposes republican obstruction and perverse abuse of the filibuster in an obvious strategy that the GOP has been employing in an attempt to take back power with absolutely no regard for every day Americans. This is clearly a detriment to the progress of America and to our economy.

Count on the right wing SCREAM machine to go into overdrive in the seventy-four days left until the election. We can expect a blitzkrieg of misleading propaganda between now and then. As hollow and pathetic as the Democrats are, the Republicans are beyond redemption. The only thing they have going for them is the BIG LIE. They can't argue their ideas based on logic or merit because those ideas are atrocious. I cannot emphasize this enough: if these jackals and jackasses are ever again able to regain control of both houses of congress and the White House, this country is finished. Think I'm kidding? Vote Republican. You'll deserve everything that happens to you.

On that cheerful note....Have a dandy week, folks!

If your son (or daughter) thought that it would be nice to take your wife to the amusement park to cheer her up because she just found out that she has a weak heart, and your son/daughter decided that they would put your wife on the fastest roller coaster on the park to make her laugh and forget her problems, even though she loves roller coasters (and could have a serious heart attack and die) would you let your child put your wife on that roller coaster in HOPE that it might CHANGE her attitude? If so, you don't care about your wife.

If the Republicans just let Obama TRY THIS and find out that it doesn't work, then TRY THAT, and it doesn't work, THEN he wants to REPEAT the same FAILED IDEAS over again (QE1,QE2,QE3, QE HOW MANY MORE, AFTER he said that BUSH'S stimulus helped put us in the ditch?), I don't think it's a good idea to pass anything that he comes up with.

Congress is in place to be part of the "Checks and Balances" system our Government was designed to have (study your American history from a pre -1960's history book that was not written by a Socialist, and it will include this information). If you don't realize that BAD policies are NOT good for America and that saving time and problems (like the "NOT AS SHOVEL READY AS WE THOUGHT" jobs that we were guaranteed were there if we just waste the money) is holding up progress, and you think that circumventing Congress at every turn to get your 'Agenda' passed while your oppositions' bills are stacked on Hairy Greed's desk marked D.O.A. is a legitimate practice for ANY PRESIDENT, you don't know your fundamental governmental processes of the UNITED STATES. This practice is more reminiscent of a Socialist dictator than an American President. Even after passing all of his 'stimulus', we still haven't gone below the 8% unemployment level that he said we would never reach.

So, it's the same old 'double standard' isn't it? When you're Obama, all you have to do is tell America that Republicans won't cooperate, won't be bipartisan, and cry 'FOUL' to America when they filibuster, and all the while you keep all of the Republican bills from being processed. America just won't see the Republican bills stacked up on Hairy Greed's desk, while they WILL see the Republicans filibuster to prevent his bills from passing, so he looks like the good guy and the Republicans look like the trash.

They are also absolute imbeciles in just about every imaginable way. I don't even oppose them because I disagree with every single word they say but I really can't agree with people who don't seem to have even the most basic intelligence. When you can't comprehend even 8th grade biology or theology then you kind of don't need to be making decisions for ANYONE else...you don't even need to be raising children for Pete's sake let alone making decisions for an entire Country.

What do you know....more hatred spewing from the left. Ed Schultz is a sterling example of journalism. He is not one bit partisan is he ! Liberalism is built on lies and deceit. That's all you people have. You can't talk about the economy and you always have to have someone to blame. Time to grow up little boys and little girls.

Can anyone of you losers give me ONE NAME of a Democrat that voted for an Obama budget ? It is the Senate's job to come up with a budget and then the House reviews it. Who is in charge of the Senate ? The Dems run the show there ! No budget in almost four years now ! Unprecedented ! Every President before this one compromised with the other side to get a budget done. Not this guy !

What was the cost of gasoline before this idiot took office ? $1.86. What is there to talk about ? 42 straight months with 8% or better unemployment. Record poverty. The economy is an anemic 1.5% growth rate and many economists have us heading towards another recession.

American's don't care about Abortion or Gay Marriage. It's about the economy stupid !

We demand someone who is going to be respectful of our laws and constitution not give away amnesty in exchange for votes. Typical Demacrook will screw over we citizens to stay in power.

No other president had these problems.....hmmmm.....must be that the leader is the problem.

After a period in which the phrase “party of No” seemed to have fallen out of favor, the Obama campaign is again hammering away at the GOP as the “party of No” with sudden new frequency. The new Obama campaign video released today hits this theme hard. And in a speech today, Obama himself again laced into GOP obstructionism at length.

It's "reins". What is Mr. Obama doing that is socialist? He doesn't make the laws. He only signs them. Congress makes laws. Talk to them. Did you not hear what Mitch McConnell said in 2010? That his only focus would be to make sure that President Obama would be a one term president? That is NOT how the system works effectively and that is unpatriotic. So what is he doing for his constituents? What is Boehner doing going around and saying he hopes the Latinos and African-Americans don't show up on election day? How is all of this American???

Harry Reid is not a Republican. Last I checked he was in charge of Senate and the Democrats have the majority. So what you need to ask is why are Reid and the Democrats sitting on more than 30 job creating bills passed by the House. Why are they not coming up for a vote, That would be true bi-partisanship. If Reid is just marking time hoping that the house revers back to Democrat control, I hope he is holding his breath.

They are the ones holding the economy back.

You must be having a problem comprehending what I am saying to you. The House has passed job building legislation, the House Democrats did not filibuster successfully. They are in the minority. The 30 bills I referenced passed the House but the Senate, which the Democrats still have a majority vote in is sitting on them and will not bring them up for a vote. Harry Reid is the culprit here. Do you understand now? Even so, lets say Harry got off his ass and brought those bills up for a vote and lets say they passed, Obama has said he would veto most of them. So who is it that is holding the economy back?

Doesn't matter what you or these other liberals say, this type of governing worked for Presidents Kennedy, Reagan and Bush. Progressives just don't get it. True,,,the Republicans let us down this last time, but it wasn't the Executive office, it was the Legislature that forgot the Republican principles. In 2006, they were voted out to show them a lesson. Now we are keeping the House and retaking the Senate along with many state and local government positions. This time with the help of the Tea Party Caucus, we will hold their feet to the fire and guarantee a constitutionally limited government.

BTW: The (Bush) now Obama tax cuts extension is a job creator. What is keeping the economy in this depressed state is insecurity.

What is keeping the economy in the dumps is GOP and teabugger obstruction to win the election. Middle class consumers are the real job creators. Businesses depend upon sales for their products and to hire more workers. Giving corporations less taxes, and less regulation does not help if there are no buyers except the 1%.

I don't need a video of yet another progressive preaching failed ideas. The only thing I need is history. Presidents Kennedy, Reagan and Bush. They were the job creators in the past half century. Had it not been for the progressives in between the median household income would be higher.

I'm sorry but I don't quite know how to respond to your comment ACA is too common an acronym. It could be the American Canine Assoc., American Chiropractic Assoc. or one of many others. As for deregulation, I believe that GWB as well as John McCain went to the Democratic congress in the early 2000's and tried for more regulation on Fannie and Freddie. They warned what might happen if they were to get into a financial bind because of their size. The Democrats didn't listen and the rest is history.

So you see, deregulation will happen as it has since the mid 1970's. At other times there will be a need for more regulation. They'll sometimes get it right and sometimes they will get it wrong. All we can do is bitch at them when they get it wrong and they refuse to fix it.

    ACA Affordable Care Act.

The House passed GSE regulation in 2005.. Plus the GSE's weren't the main problem..

    http://uspolitics.about.com/b...

In the 109th Congress (2005-2006), the House overwhelmingly approved (331 to 90) HR 1461, The Federal Housing Finance Reform Act, designed "to create a stronger regulator for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac." The Senate, still controlled by Republicans lagged the House in taking action. It is not clear if this was a lack of Republican leadership or blockage by Democratic leadership (filibuster threats). (Shout if you have links to illustrate this impasse.)
HR 1461 remained stalled in the Senate: last action, 31 October 2005, referred to the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs.
On 31 July 2007, after the Democrats obtained control of the Congress in the November 2006 election, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi introduced HR 3221, a "bill to provide needed housing reform and for other purposes." Among other things, the bill granted the newly formed Federal Housing Finance Agency "supervisory and regulatory authority over Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the federal home loan banks (enterprises)" (per CRS analysis).
