Republicans Cut off Food Assistance to Millions of Americans who own a Car

Without a dependable mode of transportation, how are poor people supposed to look for work? The GOP is waging war against women, unions, the working class and the poor. Their tactics are immoral.

It can be rightly presumed that extremely severe and unusually cruel conduct that is mutinous to the rules of right or virtuous conduct is considered Draconian, or in 2012 terminology, Republican. It seems that every budget proposal or new legislation submitted by the GOP is another opportunity for them to show their lack of compassion for the American people and apparently there is no end to the depth of depravity they are willing to go to cause suffering in the populace to reward corporate America. This week, Republicans in the House maintained their reputation as Draconian stewards of America’s purse strings and crafted a “compromise” farm bill that cuts billions of dollars from the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) or informally, food stamps, and increases farm subsidies to the corporate agriculture industry.

At a time when 46 million Americans (one half are children) depend on food stamps to avoid dire poverty and daily hunger, Republicans who created this sluggish economy decided that several million poor Americans should lose their eligibility to qualify for assistance because it is the fiscally responsible thing to do. The Republican plan eliminates “categorical eligibility” which means that a family living at or below the poverty line that owns a dependable car will be cut off of food assistance.

Good. Ever work as a grocery bagger? The food stamp people drive some of the nicest cars.

You must not have been to the grocery store lately. I've seen hundreds of people load groceries bought with food stamps into cars far superior to my own. You can level any true accusations at the other party to get gullible people to vote for a Democrat, but please try to tell the truth when you do it. BTW, more Americans have moved into poverty since Obama became president, not less. More Americans are without health insurance than there were before Obama was elected, not less. Those things are true and I don't see you speaking to that at all. You just want your guy re-elected at the cost of your integrity. What's really sad? Many more millions just like you that blindly follow straight down party lines. That's what has gotten us into the mess we're in now. I hope you (and they) are happy.

I only look at the real policies implemented by extremist conservatives. They lack compassion. This is another example of the conservative war against the poor.

Are tax breaks for the 1% and tax subsidies for individuals like the Koch Brothers the real reason so many wealthy/corporate elites vote for extremist conservatives? Corporate welfare and tax subsidies to the 1% cost the treasury more than 10 times the cost of welfare assistance for poor people.

I made my comment before I realized you may have never even voted in one election. You don't know a thing about any of this as you've probably never had to want for anything. It's really easy to criticize when you lack any kind of real world experience. Our schools are full of people that push their agenda on the youth of America without the slightest thought of how it ruins their perspective and takes away free thought. I remember when they taught the subjects they were paid to teach. I long for those days.
