Republican/Democrats/Libertarian How much money does a person need to do there Job!

Sinpac 2012/07/07 16:56:59
members of Congress
There are 535 members in Congress 435 in the house and 100 in the senate.
So my question is how much money do these NO WORK Mother F-er's need to start doing there jobs. Not for there parties, not for the bribes they took from corporations, but for the people who gave them the jobs to start with. So at 175k a year per member there are 535 members so that's $93,625,000.00 + Insurance + bribes
Here are a few bonuses that come with the job above their pay!
Comfortable salaries that are often determined through legislative sleight-of-hand and are at its highest ever.
Pension benefits that are two to three times more generous than those
offered in the private sector for similarly-salaried executives.
Congressional pensions are also inflation-protected, a feature that fewer than 1 in 10 private plans offer.
Health and life insurance, approximately 3/4 and 1/3 of whose costs, respectively, are subsidized by taxpayers.
Wheeled perks, including limousines for senior Members, prized parking
spaces on Capitol Hill, and choice spots at Washington's two major
airports.
Travel to far-flung destinations as well as to home states and
districts. Despite recent attempts to toughen gift and travel rules,
"junkets" are still readily available prerogatives for many Members.
A wide range of smaller perks that have defied reform efforts, from cut-rate health clubs to fine furnishings.
The franking privilege, which gives lawmakers millions in tax dollars to create a favorable public image.

An office staff that performs "constituent services" and doles out
pork-barrel money to interest groups, private business and a multitude
of others.

Tax exemptions and immunities from tax, pension, and other laws that
burden private citizens -- all crafted by lawmakers themselves.

Those are your Public Servants hard at work!
You!

No work means less infringement on the American people, a step in the correct direction. Now to continue on this path is to remove the barrier that impede individual success. If they were to do that I wouldn't mind paying them a 1% commision for each department they eliminate.

    Well let us see.

Housing in Washington, DC. Got a reasonable solution for that. ALL of them get the exact same accomadations. Take the old military hospital Walter Reed that was just shut down and tear it down. Build 3 bedroom appartments of about 1500 square feet for each elected office and assign them an appartment. They pay the average rental for an appartment in DC. NO EXCEPTIONS. Then on the first three floors there will be the necessary cafeteria for them to eat at. NO EXCEPTIONS. Breakfast lunch and dinner. Oh and they pay what ever the going rate for the food is in Washington, DC.

Oh too, I they use public transportation, NO GOVERNMENT LIMO'S! unless they are in the line of suscession to the Presidency. And then ONLY when necessary. Oh yes! No more free rides at the congressional bank. They bounce a check they pay it out of their next paycheck. OH and speaking of paychecks.

Deductions for SS, Medicare/Medicaid will start immediately.

And if this isn't enough to get them off their butts. I have a constitutional ammendment that says there terms in office will change Senators 2, 6year terms. House Representatives 3, 3 year terms.

Then there is the question of Citizens United. Another amendment to limit the amount of money any sinlge entity or person can contribut...

Another amendment to limit the amount of money any sinlge entity or person can contribute to a campaign and outlaw super pacs all together, with a provision that religious organizations cannot speak to or endorse any political candidate or law nor can they participate in debate of laws or elections.

    This is just a start.

Did you forget the automatic 10% annual pay increases, starting salary of $174,000 and retirement pension of $60k+ eligibility after only 5 years of service?
    Cushy job isn't it?

Meh. I actually think elected officials (and government employees in general) should be well-paid. If they're paid little, it will foster an attitude that income from corruption is expected or is normal or is proper compensation.

Retirement pay should be conditional upon winning one re-election bid (to provide motivation to please their constituents) and upon having no ethics violations (to motivate ethical behavior).

The overall effect on the budget of having them well-paid or not is minuscule. If being well-paid motivates better behavior, it's a very good investment in better government.

I think they've forgotten what their job is, the people have forgotten what their job is, and government eats our substance as it grows larger and more intrusive by the day. The whole thing makes me sick.

I think the people have forgotten what their jobs are because it's been so long since they have done it.

They take them through their "orientation". I think I'd tell them, "No thanks, if you were doing it right, I wouldn't be here."
