Rep. West threatens to leave Congressional Black Caucus over tea party bashing

n response to recent comments made by Indiana Democratic Rep. Andre Carson and California Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters that denigrate the tea party movement, Florida Republican Rep. Allen West — a member of both the Congressional Black Caucus and the Tea Party Caucus — sent a letter to CBC Chairman Emanuel Cleaver Wednesday requesting that the body condemn such remarks.

“As Chairman of the CBC, I believe it is incumbent on you to both condemn these types of hate-filled comments, and to disassociate the Congressional Black Caucus from these types of remarks. Otherwise, I will have to seriously reconsider my membership within the organization,” West wrote.

The freshman congressman declared, “It is unconscionable when a fellow CBC Member, Congressman Andre Carson, comes to South Florida and claims that some in the Tea Party would love to see black Americans ‘hanging on a tree.’ It is appalling to hear another CBC colleague, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, say ‘The Tea Party can go straight to hell.’”

It would be disappointing for them to lose him. Especially with someone like democrat socialist Maxine Waters trying to convince them to stick with Obama because he's black despite the damage he's done to the black community over the last couple years.

After listening and watching the video's out on this, I have come to the conclusion that this was uncalled for and Mr. West is correct in his calls for the CBC to distant itself from those remarks, I find any group regardless of race who call themselves a race based caucus is nothing more than racist and not representing everyone of every color in their districts, I call on you Sodahead Members to write to your Congress person and the CBC and to those using this type of speech in a public forum to foster hate and discontent. Good for Allen West. Why don't we just disband anything that causes separatism anyway? What is the purpose of the CBC anyway other than to keep racial issues in the limelight even if those issues are irrelevant today? Come on CBC just let racism die already!

It definitely is and West has to see this as well. Just getting tired of hearing the old "if you do that one more time I am going to hold my breath until I turn blue". He knows what they are and what their agenda is so either do it or shut up. I might be a little crass about it, might just be my frustrations showing through.
