There are several Facebook pages that have been reported repeatedly but Facebook refuses to remove them. The page creator is making fun of people with Progeria, some of the pages are posting pornographic images photo-shopped onto the children's faces and it's very disturbing. I can't imagine how upset these children and their families would be if they saw the hateful posts being made. Please, we must stress to Facebook that this kind of cyber bullying should not be allowed!

I Don't want children suffering from this disease to see the hateful pages creating calling them aliens.

thank you! that is a very good point, while I don't necessarily agree it is completely free speech on their part (because I don't think bullying of any form should be covered, just as I don't feel hate speech that incites violence should be) I do agree that if some think it's free speech for them to be hateful, we are well within our rights to organize protests against it.

...the word handicap stems from the disfigured people on the streets of England who would be with a cap held out in front of them ...leading to the description of people who have a "cap handy" . My girlfriend told me that , she had MD (died 4 years ago) and lived in a wheelchair from the time she was 15 ....she did not want to be protected from people she wanted to be included !

It saddens me to see so many hateful people on those pages who think calling a child an alien is funny and facebook should follow their own guidelines by removing and banning those individuals from creating more hateful pages.

because I have involved police before in online cyber bullying situations and trust me, they don't care. Cyber offenses are hard to deal with on that level, many times state lines are crossed in the process and it creates a huge headache that they simply don't have the time for. That's why facebook should be involved first and foremost. They manage the site, they have specific regulations against harassment for a persons' disability or disease and therefore I don't feel it is covered under the same freedom of speech laws.

What? that is ridiculous Franklin and I am a bit hurt that you would even say something so mean. I am not bullying anyone. I was shocked and appalled at the horribly hateful and ugly display on those pages, so were hundreds of other people. They posted comments against the page creator and I didn't sink to their level of ridicule for the ridicule. I am FAR from unhappy with myself, you obviously don't know a thing about me.

Are you seriously sticking up for the people who are calling children with progeria aliens? that those children should be exterminated, you are saying that is acceptable?

Liberals support freedom of speech, but only speech they agree with.

This case is a perfect example, they see my support of free speech as equal to supporting the offensive speech. They are incapable of separating the two.

It's her opinion whether you agree with it or not. Yes discrimination is allowed as freedom of speech, but there are still laws in place towards kids.

Discrimination is something we all do every day. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it.

If you choose to eat at one restaurant instead of another, you have discriminated. If choose to not date anyone outside of your own race, you have discriminated. If you drink Coke and not Pepsi, well, you get the idea.

I discriminate, and there is no reason to apologize for it. But there are some that associate that word with racism, they are wrong.

When you discriminate towards an ethnicity, that is indeed racism. For example; Percy Julian was number one student in his classes. He needed a teacher student position in order to stay at Harvard; they discriminated against him and denied him, because during those times Black students weren't allowed to teach White ones.

Anyway he had to leave Harvard, because of his skin color; despite the fact he was the most intelligent one there.
