That's fine and thanks - I was just asking because, I know there is allot of talk by the radical right that they are afraid that Obama will institute martial law and suspend habeas corpus....and many of these same people, in the radical right, appear of adore Lincoln as a role model... just want to see if you would be able to provide some insight in that apparent contradiction ... I guess not..

My observations - you and the radical Muslims have something in common - you both allow your religion to heavily influence your politics... their Koran apparently tells them it's okay to fly planes into buildings and your Bible apparently makes it okay for you to label people that have a different opinion then yours, as evil.....How convenient for both of you..

Truthfully, I can't say I do remember that. What I can say is that Lincoln was about preserving the Union, not dividing it. Lincoln wryly commented that, following his election the many new "friends" beseeching him for favors and appointments were so great that they're weren't enough "tits for the pigs....." where are current President would gleefully add more tits. Lincoln believed in a nation of the people, by the people, for the people.....where in our current state of affairs, it would be of Alinsky, by Billy Ayers, and for George Soros.

Lincoln never asked for a private army in a campaign speech,

And in the end, with the Civil War at a close and wishing to bind the nations wounds, he never sought to use his victory to his advantage....unlike the victory being used as the result of the eradication of one of America's greatest enemies in Abbottabad, Pakistan.
The difference between the true greatness of Lincoln and superfluity of Obama is too resounding to go on. I leave it for the reader to look deeply inside themselves as to whether or not this sitting President in the White House is fit to light a candle in remembrance of Lincoln.

I think, just about now, Old ABE is spinning in his grave. I am also assuming that everyone of our founding fathers are also spinning in their graves. This is the most important vote, more important that all the ones we voted for in the past. We will have to choose whether we have a republic or a dictatorship. That's how important this election is going to be.
  • Lee GINGERB... 2012/05/06 01:44:08

Old Abe IS spinning in his grave . . . And so is Eisenhower.

After all . . . . Their once truly great Republican Party has turned into a conglomeration of unthinking Right Wing Nitwits who can do nothing more that trade big lies with each other.

Yep the Grand Old Party has degenerated into a disgusting pile of slimy sub-human things who can't even think for themselves.

    . . . . DISGUSTING

You right wingers have gone so far around the bend that you have declared all legitimate news outlets to be invalid.

Sickos are thick in the Republican party.

    It's sad.

    That is a wrong assumption.

I opt for a government that governs responsibly.

And we will never have responsible governance under Right Wing Nut Job leadership.

    But there's a simple solution.

Just vote out the Repugnant Ones.

Emperor Abe would be amazed at The Zero's expansion of his dream of federal power and his accomplishments in flouting the Constitution in ways that exceed even Lincoln's great accomplishments in that regard.

As I understand it, DiLorenzo is a bag of hot air.
  • David Cliff 2012/05/06 03:12:22
    David
Well, as I understand it, from having read your comment, you've not actually read anything DiLorenzo's written and would probably not be able to understand it if you did, at least not without a lot of pretty pictures and your crayons for support. Nothing DiLorenzo has written on Lincoln is actually from arcane sources. Access to all the source material he relies on is easily obtainable and verifiable. Unfortunately, none of it will persuade historical illiterates who refuse to examine facts and instead, relying on fictional Lincoln hagiography, continue to believe such foolish lies as "Lincoln freed the slaves", etc.
  • Lee David 2012/05/06 04:30:44
    Lee
As Cliff said . . . it looks like DiLorenzo is a bag of hot air.

. . . .If it is his premise that Lincoln is responsible for the Civil War.

Do you and DiLorenzo believe the Lincoln should have allowed degenerate and traitorous Southern Slavers to tear the union apart without a fight?

If so . . . then Yes, DiLorenzo is a bag of hot air.
  • David Lee 2012/05/06 05:05:14
    David
Lee, so you're another "critic"of DiLorenzo who's not actually read his work. Real smart showing off your ignorance.
  • Lee David 2012/05/06 05:08:36
    Lee
No, I have not read his work.

I just read the cover of the book in the graphic you provided.

And I asked you to provide an example of what you consider to be one of his wonderful insights . . . along with some proof to back it up.

    Can you do that?

Or will you be showing off your ignorance?
  • David Lee 2012/05/06 05:45:58
    David
    1. You really are rather dim, aren't you? _I_ did not post the graphic of DiLorenzo's book cover.

    2. No, Lee, you did not just ask me "to provide an example of what you consider to be one of his wonderful insights". You FIRST made positive assertions about what DiLorenzo wrote and cast aspersions on his character, all without having ANY evidence whatsoever, since you've not read anything by him. That's classic argument by assertion from ignorance. Until you attempt to support your assertions, I have no responsibility to rebut them.

You really are very, very poorly educated, aren't you? Why, you could be a typical recent college graduate! Or even a typical Academia Nut Fruitcake "history" professor in a typical American college.

Still, why you insist on offering evidence of your weak intellect and even poorer education is a mystery. Have you no shame?
  • Lee David 2012/05/06 14:14:38
    Lee
I see . . . so in other words, you still cannot provide any support for DiLoRingading's claims.

You babble and babble, but you just can't quite convey anything worth hearing.

You claim this author is perceptive and accurate, and yet you cannot in any way support him.

    lol
  • David Tombo 2012/05/06 02:07:06

DiLorenzo has done a lot of the heavy lifting in demythologizing America's most successful imperial presidency to date...
  • Lee David 2012/05/06 04:32:34 (edited)

Your DiLorenzo sounds like a typical modern Right Wing hero . . . totally full of Sh*t.

Please give an example of his wonderful insights and any proof at all to back it up.

    . . . That's all right . . . Take your time.

    I will wait.
  • David Lee 2012/05/06 05:09:59
    David
Don't have to. You're the making a positive assertion that DiLorenzo's "full of Sh*t", etc. As soon as you present any verifiable proof of same (in context quotes of DiLorenzo material that are factually wrong, for example), it is indeed you who are "full of Sh*t". You are simply trying to make the exchange about anything BUT your assertion. You've not even--yet--shown you've read anything by the guy. In fact, you have given positive evidence that you either:

have not read anything by DiLorenzo or

are simply lying out your a$$
