Remember learning about the different types of clouds in school? Well, apparently a new type of cloud called “undulatus asperatus” may soon join the ranks of the better-known cumulus, stratus, and cirrus.
“Undulatus asperatus” means “agitated waves” and this type of cloud looks like an undulating blanket covering the sky. The quest to get this type of cloud recognized—it would be the first new variety discovered since the cirrus intortus in 1951—was spurred on by a photo by Jane Wiggins of Cedar Rapids, Iowa that went viral on the Internet in 2006 (see below).
According to Gavin Pretor-Pinney, president of the Cloud Appreciation Society, "It will only become an official classification if it is included in the World Meteorological Organization's reference book, the International Cloud Atlas."
And apparently, the United Nations’ World Meteorological Organization (WMO) doesn’t exactly move very quickly. The atlas has not been put online and the last print edition was issued in 1975. If this new variety of cloud is recognized, it would be the world’s first crowd-sourced cloud—discovered through the sharing of digital images.

RobJohn 2012/09/24 02:22:36Wait, what? There's a new type of cloud?!

For stupid posts .......
You people (SH's paid muckrakers) are now making mountains out of molehills... about CLOUDS.
Then base this on some narrative that warns us about capitalis.. I mean global warmin.. I mean 'cloud change'.
This is just more evidence of 'weather changing' and the clouds being victims of that.
and,
somehow make it clear that none of these clouds should be misconstrued as recognition of the legitimacy of the State of Israel.
And then 9.3 million dollars later the UN can recognize the cloud and proceed to debate which country claims ownership of the clouds.
But those are some awesome photos. We get some really unique clouds (in a sense similar to the photo) but more puffy where I live and I'm told due to the Rocky Mountains and unique weather systems.
Of course... no, I never have a camera handy (or think of it) when you do get those rare 'Wowwwww' mind-blowing moments.
Good on this guy for snapping some great pics at just the right time!
there are new clouds, and where i live its everyday, where there is a constant layer which isn't normal clouds nor is it smog. but rather chemtrails!
these chemtraisl stay rigth whre they are sprayed, unlike normal clouds that move from west to east, or from any dirrection they are supposed to move!
thats why its an issue, not to mention fooling aroudn with the weather causes hurricanes, tornado's and bad weather conditions. i realise all those occure naturally, but abnormal weather has been through the roof the past three four years. where it snowed in texas in mid summer, or now (from what ive heard) 70% of america is in a droubt while the other is just getting drenched, like seriously?
chemtrails are real, you can blabber what ever you want! and ignore evidence, it snot my fault your to dumb to understand facts! when they come straight out and ay they do it, when its in books such as guiness, and when you look up there is clouds that don't even look like clouds, and you still don't believe?
geoenginners are real people!
call me what you will, won;t change the fact their are geoengineers they aren't mythical creatures! guiness world records 07-to 010 i don't remember which, has a page dedicated to geoengineered clouds. but hey, im the idiot here? do research before you call people paranoid! especially when your the one who is WROng!
