Money expended on things like infrastructure (which gives employment), education (which re-tools and trains our people for jobs in the new century), affordable health care (which makes for a healthy population) are far more important than building yet more planes and missiles when we already have the capability of blowing the world to smithereens many times over.

Welfare allows the cancer of this society to exist and multiply. I'm not talking about those who are honestly trying to get a job, and make something of themselves. I'm talking about every Tom, Dick, and Jane with their hand out because they are too lazy to work.

I'm a democrat and I usually go left on most stuff, but I must disagree with not arming our military! these are brave young men and woman who are willing to put their lives on the line to defend you and me. We owe it to them to make sure they have everything they need so when they are called upon to fight for their country we give them the best technology has to offer, so they can get in do their jobs and get out quickly with minimal cost to their lives! with out our Military we would not be the great country we are! you must remember it is not the common soldiers to play politics their job is to follow orders!, so don't take it out on them! When you cut the budget to our military budget then you are taking it out on the individual soldier who is fighting for your right!

Unfortunately....welfare is for many people a dead end street....once on it...it becomes a career. Yes, I know there are those who do not abuse it....and then there are those who are professionals at collecting it and collecting SSD or SSI at the same time.

Their is virtually no accountability in these programs. They are literally self perpetuating in that generation after generation is educated on how to milk the system....

Whereas, the military serves a useful purpose. To think otherwise is foolish.

Would you rather see an 18 year old kid sucking at the government teat...or drawing a federal paycheck where that same 18 year old performs a service to his or her country and pays taxes...??

I know I would prefer it, and I also know that the military has straightened out a lot of kids who were on their way to prison...turned them around and made them grown up and be productive citizens.... That is also one of the reasons I support a national draft with ZERO exemptions!!

If you aren't willing to serve your country in either a military or civilian capacity...you should be put on a container ship for China....

Military hardware design and construction is a lot like welfare. Efficiency isn't necessarily rewarded and costs sky-rocket because of ill thought out options that drive up costs. The F35 fighter jet. designed to be the NATO standard for the future, was supposed to cost less than $60 million per plane; it's over double that now. Some of the highest salaries in our country are paid by companies to make weapons and if you believe that the military budget be reduced, you're considered un-American by many.

Children suffer more when Republicans want to take everything away that will keep them healthy and strong. If you are so concern about the children why vote Republican!

I would say you are wrong about welfare not killing any one. people on welfare may have committed crimes that ended up with someone dieing. The military job is to protect the innocent people of their country, so if means killing that is the just the way it is meant to be.

This is as about as stupid a poll you've come up with yet, moped. Welfare simply traps people into a life of dependency, poverty, and servitude. Keeps people poor with no hope in crime drugs and people die................
As for the US military. It does not kill anyone that is not a threat to America................

Wish that were true. We the Religious community are the social safety net that many turn to after all else fails. Our food pantries are doing a brisk businesses.

When " all else fails" means that your radical fringe politics, and slashing of programs, has made it damned near impossible for eligible people to receive substantial enough government services to meet their needs .But that's your objective isn't it, ween them off social services to indoctrinate and bribe them into your churches ? You want to exchange one form of dependency for another that benefits your selfish desire to fill up your rapidly emptying pews in an increasingly secular society.
You should cease this charitable work, dear. You've just become another enabler of the poor, and for selfish reasons of bringing glory onto yourself.
Are there no prisons? Are there no workhouses? Are their no dumpsters in which to dive? After all, this disgraceful dependence on others must stop somewhere.

No - meaning no jobs and struggling families. We have a job destroying government in place. Fortunately for our Judeo-Christian culture there are many Christian Churches willing to lend a hand in times of need.

Odd, how unemployment has fallen and we are gaining an average of 150,000 jobs a month while we were losing 750,000 a month during you God Bush's administration. But if course those are facts and you reject any and all facts that don't support your delusions.

Keep enabling the poor by making them dependent on your church so you can feel superior to them and sadistically humiliate them as often as you like. We all know how you get off on that.

I wish the stats were true. We all know that they are not and that the Churches have been the salvation of the poor and needy.

(CNSNews.com) - The so-called real unemployment rate fell slightly in October, going from 14.7 percent to 14.6 percent, according to a report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics Friday.

This rate is a more comprehensive picture of those who are unemployed or underemployed.

Known as the U-6 rate, this measure combines those traditionally counted as unemployed, those counted as underemployed – holding part-time jobs for economic reasons, and those marginally attached to the labor force.

It is considered a more comprehensive measure of the employment pictures because it includes those two additional figures along with the traditional unemployment rate – giving a more thorough look at the impact of the economy on employment.

The U-6 rate was unchanged from August to September at 14.7 percent, after falling from as high as 15 percent in July. However, the rate has been little changed all year, hovering in a range between 15.1 to 14.5 percent.

The Labor Department, in its final jobs report before the election, said the nation's unemployment rate went up a tenth of a point in October to 7.9 percent, as U.S. employers added 171,000 jobs.

Your copy and paste desperation reeks from you like garlic after a bad Sabarro pizza.
Fact: Bush killled 750,000-800,000 a month.
Fact: Obama has created at least 150,000 almost every month .
Fact; Your Tea Tard Congress has refused to cooperate in creating more.
Sorry, loser, the basics always stay the same.

Unlike you, I come here to express opinions based on my already considerable knowledge base, not to copy and paste irrelevant hogwash, because my memory bank doesn't contain enough information to support my positions. I'm an agnostic in regard to everything. I neither defend nor prosecute anyone or anything based upon preconceived ideas, nor do I use religion or right wing political harangues to back up those positions. I use common sense.

You support policies WORSE than Bush's. At least he was an honest Christian , not one who uses it it to justify your hateful , degenerate extremism you disguise as concern for the poor. The only thing you care about is your own self aggrandizement. Instead of allowing the poor to have some measure of self respect with the anonymity of a government check, you prefer them crawling on their embarrassed hand knees to you groveling, so you can sadistically make yourself feel superior in every respect.

Bush was merely a rather unintelligent but misguided compassionate conservative, one on whom you wish to lay no blame for anything in regard to our current economic position when it's easier to lay the entire blame on the guy who arrived in the middle of it. That's irrational and defies my chief prerequisite for assigning responsibility--common sense.
You are , quite simply, a boorish, inhumane, ruthless ideologue, and one for whom I have not one scintilla of respect.
