You don't think Mitt wants to transfer wealth from the middle class to the rich? Have you read his tax plan?

Hard to pass corruption of the republican party. After all through their buddies on the supreme court all politicians are now whores to be bought at will. Way to go.

No this stimulus was too small as predicted by a number of economists. But people soon forget what got us out of the great depression.

Whose ties to what terrorist? More urban legends I think.

After the Greenwich Village townhouse explosion in 1970, in which Weatherman member Ted Gold, Ayers' close friend Terry Robbins, and Ayers' girlfriend, Diana Oughton were killed when a nail bomb being assembled in the house exploded, Ayers and several associates evaded pursuit by US law enforcement officials. Kathy Boudin and Cathy Wilkerson survived the blast. Ayers was not facing criminal charges at the time, but the federal government later filed charges against him.[4] Ayers participated in the bombings of New York City Police Department headquarters in 1970, the United States Capitol building in 1971, and the Pentagon in 1972, as he noted in his 2001 book, Fugitive Days. Ayers writes:

Although the bomb that rocked the Pentagon was itsy-bitsy - weighing close to two pounds - it caused 'tens of thousands of dollars' of damage. The operation cost under $500, and no one was killed or even hurt.[18]

Some media reports and political critics have suggested that Ayers, Dohrn or the Weathermen were connected to the fatal 1970 San Francisco Police Department Park Station bombing but neither Ayers nor anyone else has been charged or convicted of this crime.[19]

Kathy Boudin and Cathy Wilkerson survived the blast. Some media reports and political critics have suggested that Ayers, Dohrn or the Weathermen were connected to the fatal 1970 San Francisco Police Department Park Station bombing but neither Ayers nor anyone else has been charged or convicted of this crime.[19]

While underground, Ayers and fellow member Bernardine Dohrn married, and the two remained fugitives together, changing identities, jobs and locations.

In 1973, new information came to light about FBI operations targeted against Weather Underground and the New Left, all part of a series of covert and often illegal FBI projects called COINTEL.[20] Due to the illegal tactics[clarification needed] of FBI agents involved with the program, government attorneys requested all weapons- and bomb-related charges be dropped against the Weather Underground, including charges against Ayers.[21]

However, state charges against Dohrn remained. Dohrn was still reluctant to turn herself in to authorities. "He was sweet and patient, as he always is, to let me come to my senses on my own", she later said of Ayers.[4] She turned herself in to authorities in 1980. She was fined $1,500 and given three years probation.[22]

In 1973 Ayers co-authored the book Prairie Fire with other members of the Weather Underground which they dedicated to close to 200 people including Harriet Tubman, John Brown, 'All Who Continue to Fight', and 'All Political Prisoners in the U.S.'. The list includes Sirhan Sirhan, convicted assassin of Robert F. Kennedy.[23][24] Ayers himself has denied personally dedicating the book to Sirhan.[25]

Jeremiah Wright, who preaches the Marxist doctrines of liberation theology. As President, Obama appointed Carol Browner, a former “commissioner” of the Socialist International as his “environment czar”;4 he employed a White House communications director (Anita Dunn) who cited Mao Zedong as one of her “favorite political philosophers”;5 he appointed a “science czar,” John Holdren, who views capitalism as a system that is inherently destructive of the environment;6 he appointed Van Jones, a longtime revolutionary communist, as his “green jobs czar”;7 and he strongly favors the redistribution of wealth, both within the U.S. and across international borders. The list, of course, could go on and on.

George Soros, too, harbors many negative views about capitalism and free markets. “The entire edifice of global financial markets has been erected on the false premise that markets can be left to their own devices,” says Soros. “We must find a new paradigm and rebuild from the ground up.”8 According to Soros, the capitalist “belief that everybody pursuing his self-interest will maximize the common interest … is a false idea.”9 Calling the global capitalist system “deeply flawed,” Soros maintains that “as long as capitalism remains triumphant, the pursuit of money overrides all other social considerations.”10 As Soros sees things, capitalism “is today a greater threat than any totalitarian ideology.”11 Lamenting that “the richest 1 percent of the world's population receive as much as the poorest 57 percent,”12 Soros suggests that only by reining in “global capitalism” can that gap be narrowed. He further complains that global capitalism, by encouraging the free flow of money across international borders, reduces the vital “ability of the state to provide Social Security to its citizens.”13 “The globalization of financial markets has rendered the welfare state that came into existence after World War II obsolete,” Soros explains, “because the people who require a social safety net cannot leave the country, but the capital the welfare state used to tax can.”14

Soros's proposed remedy for this problem is a worldwide war on poverty that would transform the entire planet into a global welfare state, a sort of open-society alliance where “a kind of international central bank” could redistribute wealth from rich populations to poor ones.15 Toward this end, Soros announced in September 2006 that he would donate $50 million to the United Nations Millennium Project, a massive redistributive scheme calling for the governments of wealthy countries to commit 0.7% of their GNP to promoting “the economic development and welfare of developing countries.”16 Heading this Project (from 2002-2006) was Jeffrey Sachs, the economist who had worked with Soros in Russia during the Bill Clinton administration. As evidenced by his participation in the Millennium Project,17 Sachs has radically altered his former pro-capitalist positions. Indeed, in recent times he has praised socialists as “both the heirs and the leaders of the world's most important and most successful political path”; he has lauded their “strong commitment to universalist ethical principles and fiscal re-distribution”; and he has voiced regret that America's lack of “commitment to re-distribution” has “enabled a massive underclass to develop.”18

Similarly, George Soros sees “the global capitalist system in its present form” as “a distortion of what ought to be a global open society.”19 He suggests that if the “market fundamentalism in America” were “eliminated,” then “the public interest would be better served” by way of “a more equal distribution of wealth.”20

In a November 2008 interview, Soros was asked whether he supported programs falling under the rubric of “big-government” or “European-style 'socialism.'” He replied, “That is exactly what we need now. I am against market fundamentalism. I think this propaganda that government involvement is always bad has been very successful—but also very harmful to our society.”21

In October 2009, Soros told a Central European University audience that “there is a deep-seated conflict between capitalism and open society.” He observed, moreover, that “Karl Marx['s] proposition” of communist redistributionism “was a very attractive idea” that might well have succeeded if not for the unfortunate fact that “the communist rulers put their own interests ahead of the interests of the people.”22 “The failure of the central planning model did not prove the validity of the free enterprise model,” says Soros. “... There is a better way of looking at the world. It is based on the postulate of radical fallibility, according to which all our constructs are flawed in one way or another. Specifically, both models—Communism and free enterprise, or market fundamentalism, as I have rechristened it—are deficient; the deficiency in each one can be cured only by taking some elements from the other.”23

Do you even know what your side is proposing? Ever hear of the estate tax? Mitt and many republicans want to do away with this. Besides making the rich richer, it also would mean the end to the step up valuation of assets at time of death. This means the middle class, which for the most part is not subject to estate taxes will get to pay capital gains on property they inherit.

In my case my family would be looking at capital gains on $850,000 if we sold my parents home if Mitt's plan was in effect. No estate tax was paid.

We all pay taxes...that's how it works....romney proposes tax cuts for all not just the wealthy....the problem is youve been brainwashed to believe that any one who is republican or conservative..is rich and pays estate taxes...well if you're such a fair guy...you should be proposing that no matter hoe much you make we should all pay estate taxes...if the middle class hasn't been made to pay estate taxes then isn't it only fair that they should since those in a higher tax bracket do? The reason for that is because the majority don't have estates to pay taxes on but the upper class does so that's why they've been paying for it...romney saying he wants to do away with estate tax...if that's what he said...then good he's trying to provide some tax burden...those who make more pay more...and so your problem is that that now people in the middle class will have to pay capital gains on what they inherit like the upper class always has? It's a not rich , poor or middle class tax...anyone who gains a property inheritance pays to the government....what you want is socialism/communism and it won't work for people who want their freedom....you may not care if the government controls your life but I'm not gonna be taken advantage of because I have a bigger income then others who consider themselves part of the middle class...you want fairness then we all pay the same amount no matter how much we make...but that's not how it works
  • ehrhornp warkitten 2012/06/29 21:44:54

So you want to do away with the deduction? I suggest you join the democratic party as many feel that it should at least be lowered. The republicans want to increase it or do away with it entirely.

Romney's main tax proposal is doing away with the Estate tax. Considering that the estate tax affects less than 10% of the population, it is safe to say he is favoring the rich.

I think you are the one who has been fooled into thinking that the republican party is the "conservative" party. Nothing could be further from the truth. If you are honest you will agree with me. After all they inherited a balanced economy and promptly unbalanced it without giving anything of value for it.

The reason for the estate tax by the way is to prevent Society from consisting of only two classes. The rich and the poor. I am thankful that my parent's estate was not subject to capital gains tax. You should think carefully about what you wish for.
  • warkitten ehrhornp 2012/07/01 16:45:11
    warkitten
It has nothing to do with liberal or conservative.nothing to do with democrat or republican...wait a minute cause I gotta laugh....so estate taxes were implemented to prevent society from consisting of only two classes? Oh my god see...you don't get it do ya? The fact is he/she who makes more money pays more in taxes that's part of capitalism....yes it is true that there will always be poor and rich and those in the middle...welfare keeps the poor afloat with the middle and uppers tax dollars...the rich business owners...corporations...and small business owners provide jobs for all Americans whether poor middle rich...they generate money for the economy by signing the paychecks....so if in a time when so many are unemployed and there isn't enough work to go around....in a time when companies want to hire people..but don't have the money..maybe freeing up some of that dough involves some tax relief on those who create jobs and stimulate our economic growth....you may not realise it but what youre getting at is an elitist society...which may seem to work in Italy but it doesn't....what you should be worried about is the obamacare tax
  • ehrhornp warkitten 2012/07/01 16:54:18
    ehrhornp
Why should I care about the "obamacare" tax? I believe in carrying health insurance so I wont be subject to it. Now why should I have to pay for sponges who wish to feed off those who pay?

For your information the so called penalty is really worthless as there is no enforcement provision in the law. The liberals were successful in getting that removed.

What a shame that you don't realize that a strong middle class is the driving force behind the economy. Without the demand from them, no business would produce a product. Romney desires to squeeze the middle class further by being subject to more taxes. Way to go. So typical of republicans.
