Rave this: If you think the Demacrat controlled Labor Unions, had anything to do with all the manufacturing jobs going overseas.

It SHOULD be noted that there is a distinction between the UNIONS and the Union Membership.. The LEFT would have you believe that they are ONE in the same and that the interrests of the UNIONS,, AS a Business in and of itself,, are by definition,, the interrests of the Union Membership as a whole.. That there is a SOLIDARITY among ALL that falls under their umbrella.. This is ALSO not true..

The LATEST Polls show that UNION Members are rallying behind ROMNEY by MORE then 1/3 at this point.. ONLY 57% are backing the National Agitator..

it JUST goes to show.. The Unions can get their Democrat Lackies to PACK the National Labor Relations Board with Labor HACKS and they can BRIBE them to pass LAWS,, like Card Check,, forcing Union Membership on unwilling workers but in the end,, they CANNOT force or BUY Political Loyalty from the American Worker..

They can ONLY do that with people who REFUSE to work..

I dont know if they are control of Labor Unions.Control is not the right methode for a modern society, because creativity is going away. I felt myself too much controlled from ohter people, so that this is a load.

Unions had a good purpose, long long ago... demanding shorter work schedules that didn't kill you in the process, more safety in the workplace, child labor, etc... however there are now laws in place that take the place of a union demand, downsizing the union's role to just demanding more money and supporting a political party that you may or may not care for...

I have seen various union shops, I am not impressed with the lack of care or productivity... It is job security, no matter how slow you are or how many times you mess up. Managers have to negotiate with a union rep just to consider reprimanding a unionized bum.

If you don't like the company you work for. Quit and find another company to work for... thats your freedom... If you don't like the career or its pay. Go back to school, Quit, and find another company/career... thats your freedom.

Demanding a company to pay some lazy bums more for less work is not freedom. Demanding new workers to join the lazy bum gang is not freedom.

It's even WORSE in the PUBLIC sector where the so called "Good Faith" Collective Barganing Negotiations occur between the Union Thugs and the DEMOCRATS they BRIBE..

AT least n the private sector these negotiations occur between representatives of their respective sides.. Politicians represent ONLY themselves..

I agree. Unions were a wonderful idea at the end of the end of the 19th Century when sweatshops had young kids making cigars for up to 18 hours a day.

But then came the other extreme. The unions got rich and the most senior union members became arrogant and complacent with work performance and their health. True story: The top Teamster in my local chapter was one such guy. When he hit 40 yrs. with Pan Am / Johnson Controls at Cape Canaveral AFS, FL, his department threw a big party for him. On his way home that night, he had a fatal heart attack and crashed his truck into a tree.

Without unions we are back on our way to the way things were at the end of the 19th century. What do you think could working conditions and freedom is free? You have to keep it up all the time. You have to attend union meeting and be active and vote in union elections too.

I suggest Madagascar, the minimum wage is around $50 (a month).
BTW, Germany has strong unions, good wages, a welfare state - and they are the world's second-largest exporter, with a population of only 80 million.

In Indonisia, a person earning $11,000.00 a year lives as well as an American making $85,000.00 a year, in Ireland $35,000.00 will do it, ya, I think the math alone should tell you the Unions here have it 100% wrong

I'm not up on Indonesia. but I can tell you that in the Philippines you can make the same statement. Of course that $11,000 is actually 484,000P in Philippine money. Now I'm not going to say there should be a 1 to 1 equivalency but basically it costs about 60,000 in local money to live decently over most of the world. As I'm sure you know wages are going up every where. That is particularly true in countries with strengthening currencies.

Unions aren't wrong they just help people get their fair share.

I think jobs went overseas because greedy politicians (at all levels) were taxing the snot out of corporations, taking in bribes... er, campaign contributions and lobbying dollars, and the corporations saw that they could offshore and pay less taxes because they don't owe as much tax on money of foreign subsidiaries. Both rich fat cat Demodogs and Republicrats with stock and options in mega corporations and corporations large and small don't give a damn if taxes are paid, just as long as they see a dividend.

Its the Global Corps that moved over the border for what you have cited, the USA has the highest corporate Tax in the world at 35%, Mexico and China are at 21% and 25% Europe 16% , it just makes loads of financial sence to set up a factory in a country that will charge you loads less on Tax to all the Global business you do, and only pay the 35% on the domestic business you do
  • Ramón Jedmun 2012/06/19 02:43:39

So? If they want to be North American corporations let them move back here. If not, then incorporate in Europe for the low taxes.... OH, wait... they're doing the same thing here as the MegaPhone corporations in England do when they register in Switzerland, renting an empty room, in a small town, and nothing but a label on the post box.

The GATBB, which was a piece of legislation introduced by Newt Gingrich is what allowed for the repatriation of capital to offshore enterprises. Labour Unions inspired the capitalists to lobby the willing Representatives to draft and enact such laws.

This is what the labor Unions are promoting with our tax $$$...Mao-Bama is a certified 24 kt FOOL and hasn't a clue as to how to lead. Personally I think he only went into running for POTUS because he wanted the perks. Lord knows that he sure has taken advantage of the office with he and Michelle flying all over the planet for vacations at taxpayer expense. Spends more time on the golf course than he probably spends sleeping and wails about how hard the job is because... its all Bush's fault! Obviously this non-US citizen has been catered to his whole life and he wants that to continue as POTUS. I still want to know why the lamestream media still won't look into the guy's past. How come NO ONE remembers this guy as a student at Columbia? How come the media plays up Mao-Bama's credentials at Harvard and his being editor of Harvard law review but no one can remember reading anything that this guy has allegedly written? Where are all the childhood friends and girlfriends (boyfriends?) who knew Barry before he went on to greater things? How come Barry has a Connecticut issued SSN but there is no record that he or his Socialist Mummy ever lived anywhere in the state? How does Barry get away from the Constitutional mandate that he cannot be a natural born citizen and hold the office...

I blame most of this on the inability of the media to do good investigative research and reporting on an obvious fraud simply because they are fellow travelers and the useful idiots Stalin once spoke of... It's because most of these media people are the ex-hippie scum I once used to hang around with who refuse to grow up. They still think the 60's and 70's are the pinnacle of American histoire and they want to keep the mantras of those times alive by helping to elect and cover up the major flaws of fools like Barack Hussein Mao-bama. Nuff said'!.......

Labor is part of manufacturing costs. Unions driving up the cost of manufacturing naturally causes the company to seek better profits to moving to non-union states, or countries.

not sure about your stats. Germany is the second largest exporter? larger than China or the US? regardless, if I were a CEO, your job is to make money for your company and if that means looking for labor that cost less, you do it.

China became the largest exporter not long ago, Germany was number one.

maybe if we were to lower the cost of producing goods, we could keep more jobs. Less regulations, and less labor unions. maybe lower wages for some, but more jobs.
