Since none of these accusations were carried on the evening Obama Promotions before, I suspect this is part of the U.S. AG's (and Obama's) retaliation because Arpaio is not accepting the brush-off from agencies and individuals who promote and protect their current administrative gravy train.

Being for law and order, and the rule of constitutional law is awesome, but being overly enthused or abusive about it is pretty douchey. His douchebaggery has basically canceled out his awesomeness, making my answer an undecided mix of something in between.

Here is one of the cases being cited in the suit against him. "In one case, the suit says, a five-months’ pregnant American citizen was stopped as she pulled into her driveway. Officers ordered her to sit on the hood of her car. She refused. They slammed her into the car three times—fetus-side first. Next, they placed the woman in a patrol car without air conditioning for half an hour. She was released and cited with failure to provide identification. Later, the charge was changed to 'failure to provide proof of insurance.'”

He's being charged with "monumental civil-rights tort alleging rampant constitutional abuses, including widespread racial profiling of Latinos. The suit also claims the sheriff violated the civil rights of his critics by “illegal retaliation” that included baseless lawsuits and meritless administrative actions." One of the local TV stations reporting this last evening added 'which we have been telling you about for many years.'

He's not about law and order. He thinks he is the law and thereby above the law. It's difficult to believe that he was ever elected let alone elected over and over again.

The ONLY saving grace that makes me hesitant to label him as a complete douchebag, is his willingness to stand up to the might of the federal government. This alone is such a powerful quality in my eyes, that he gets an undecided from me in this poll. All of these lawsuits coming about I view as more propaganda against him, rather than anything of substance, even though I do believe that most of the police forces in this country do exercise entirely too much force against the citizenry.

Many, like the president, should stop focusing on him. Sheriff Arpio should be held accountable like every other law enforcement leader for every thing he does wrong. I'm sure those who have a political beef with Arpio will not lose the chance to exploit this tragedy or whatever else they can get their hands on.

You could be talking about a large number of people. I'm certainly not going to say Arpio is a hero or a saint but whatever he's done wrong, he certainly wasn't doing anything wrong for enforcing laws that the Federal government chooses to ignore. To many people, this issue is nothing more than a political weapon to go after a political opponent.

I welcome legitimate criticism. He should be held responsable for what he does wrong like everyone else and maybe, like McaArthur, it's time for him to retire. But I've read many responses here by those who obviously only care about those children as political ammunition (by your tone you don't seem to be one of them).To me, that is equally dispicable.

I did my time old man and I continue to do it. I am currently in the military and have been for 21 years. I don't need a badge I put on the American Flag everyday when I go to work. I don't live in Arizona and don't care too. I haven't sat on my backside since I graduated high school in 1990. I been protecting your old butt and trying to make a difference in this country, unlike you sitting on your butt wondering when the next social security check in coming in the mail.

I have spent 6 of the last 9 years in Iraq. I have 2 bronze stars, a meritorious service and a purple heart so it is obvious that I did not sit around with the good ole boys. I currently train soldiers heading to Afganistan and give them the tools they need to return home. You the one claiming that I am sitting on my backside. You oldfarts need to let go of those good ole boys systems you employed back in the 50's and go sit down and watch the price is right before you have a stroke. I guess your son waited on a government pension also. Maybe I will sit on my backside and wait to collect social security because I would have earned it. I do support Law enforcement But when they fail to do their job then the support ends. It's good that you served but you joined when the Military was segregated and you probably still harbor the views till this days. You old f@ckers think you can say anything you want and get away with it because it was acceptable in the 50's, well it's not the 50's anymore so get with the times and support your government if you are so patriotic the way that you claim to be.

Did I say anything about your length of service , No but maybe I should, You served your 2 years in the military and hightailed it as soon as you got the chance. The army is fully integrated today and as a Platoon SGT and 1SG you show no favoritism and treat everyone the same. I highly doubt that you partied with everyone in the 50's because everything was segregated just like your thought process. You don't sound so conservative now, The days of harassing new recruits are long gone, just goes to show how out of touch with reality you are. You also do a fine job of patting yourself on the back as well. As far as taking lives to stay alive, that's the reality of war. I will also tell you that every parent that attended the units welcome home ceremony thanked all the leaders of the job that was done. They also commended leaders for the drastic improvement of their child and noticed the change into adulthood. Like I said: this is not the 50's anymore. I hope that you continue to pat yourself on the back for your service because we are the other 1%. I hope that you came home with a chest full of medals and display them with pride because I will continue to do so.
