I am not wealthy nor rich. I have a very decent income as a RN, a profession I researched and chose subsequently and I do not own a home. In 2005-6 we sold our home because we saw the writing on the walls. The market was taking a sharp turn and I did not want to be left holding a mortgage of 27+ years with a depreciating home value. We rented thereafter. I want to own again and we are looking around in the NY area. Much money for little value. We will wait a bit more.
My income has increased yearly since being with my current employer and my taxes have fallen. My kids health insurance is covered still by my employer under the ACA until this June when she turns 26. That saved us over the last year or so more than 4000 bucks. Rent is 1750 and a mortgage with PITI would be 50% higher than that and no appreciation for the last 6 years.
The market where a bit of our savings is parked has rebounded and provided us with more of a nest eggs than before Obama took office.
So you tell me. Yes the country has more debt. The sky is falling according to some as the rich are richer and the middle class shrinks. How am I not caught up in all this?
I am no intellectual. My IQ is a mere 130ish. No biggie. Why do I not feel as desperate for our country as you?
You were smart not to buy a house, others weren't that smart. That was a liberal /dem idea, with the housing. You are in the MINORITY. What taxes have fallen? Your payroll tax, or your 1040 taxes? If it is payroll, you are HURTING MY SOCIAL SECURITY.
You sound both jealous and incapable of raising yourself up. How is that anyones fault but your own? You disagree for what ever reasons with the actions and progress of the current president. I am not fully satisfied with the progress as well, notwithstanding chronic GOP obstructionism. There is SO MUCH MORE he could be doing with regard to energy, economy, motivating the American public, rallying the troops as it were.

The way you answer so many of the other posts you respond to its no wonder you jump to conclusions.
All I can add is that the dream of America has been mine to execute to the extent I took advantage of it. I received an education, I chose a profession with a future, less so because it was something I had a passion for. I even tried my hand at running a business and it FAILED-mostly my fault-and I had to sell my home to pay the bank's loan rather than cave to claiming bankruptcy.
I returned to my education and bought a new home 1 yr. later with some of the same financing others have dug deep holes with. We sold before it went bad. And that took nearly 8 months. In a good market, homes priced properly go in 30 days.
I am also aware of the problems many are having. Should I loss my current job, I will be forced to find another, same profession and fortunately, not difficult.
Life takes planning is all I can say.

Pretending it is the end of the word does not make it so. The US continues to spend twice as much on health care for half the results/outcomes. Something has to change.
