A market system in which government regulates the economy is best. Government must protect citizens from the greed of big business. Unlike the private sector, the government is motivated by public interest. Government regulation in all areas of the economy is needed to level the playing field.
Higher taxes (primarily for the wealthy) and a larger government are necessary to address inequity/injustice in society (government should help the poor and needy using tax dollars from the rich). Support a large government to provide for the needs of the people and create equality. Taxes enable the government to create jobs and provide welfare programs for those in need. Government programs are a caring way to provide for the poor and needy in society.
Support blanket amnesty for those who enter the U.S. illegally (undocumented immigrants). Also believe that undocumented immigrants have a right to:

These quotes make for good story-telling but popular myth has falsely attributed them to Churchill.
"Conservative by the time you're 35"
"If you're not a liberal when you're 25, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative by the time you're 35, you have no brain." There is no record of anyone hearing Churchill say this. Paul Addison of Edinburgh University makes this comment: "Surely Churchill can't have used the words attributed to him. He'd been a Conservative at 15 and a Liberal at 35! And would he have talked so disrespectfully of Clemmie, who is generally thought to have been a lifelong Liberal?"

That's OK ...nobody cares much for inconvenient facts these days.
Additionally, Addison claims Churchill was a conservative at 15 and a liberal at 35, which is why the statement/quote would have made no sense coming from him. As Churchill was born in 1874, he was 35 in the year 1909 (< simple maths). He didn’t re-join the conservative party until 1924. He would have been 51 at the time (< and again). Ipso facto, Addison’s comment is completely valid.
Paul Addison is a scholar and historian with a keen interest in the Second World War and its impact on British society. He wrote a book on Churchill: Churchill: The Unexpected Hero. I believe he has great depth of knowledge/understanding regarding the subject.
Sorry, I’m afraid I’ve got to disagree you: the quote you referenced is falsely attributed to Churchill (each and every time it’s used), and my reference is ABSOLUTELY accurate.
However, Oscar Wilde DID say:
“In all matters of opinion, our adversaries are insane. “
