Conservatives base their economic policy on a failed premise. Trickle down economics does not work. Cutting taxes for the rich actually HURTS prosperity.
They base their environmental policies on a falsehood, that excessive CO2 is not bad for the planet.
They base their energy policies on the near religious belief that we have enough oil to last forever.
America used to stand for TRUTH. We still should. But with Republicans, we dont.

All countries are statist. Otherwise they wouldn't be countries. Even something like a minarchist state (which the US has never been) is still statist. It's just a restrained form.

So in order to eradicate the disease, you would have to eradicate conservatives, we all know what you mean and there is only one way to "eradicate" and that is to rid the world of conservatives. I do think the current group (those in the GOP with the most influence) are akin to traitors, to the United States of America. I would not call them traditional conservatives, who tended to also be fiscally conservative. The current group only pretend to care about the financial health of the nation.

Extreme conservatism and extreme liberalism are un-American. Focus on only the individual or society is a bad thing. The country was built on liberty, and the founding fathers were Classical Liberals, so libertarianism is the most American ideology.

I'm socially conservative but when the tea baggers cry about SOCIALIZED MEDICINE that really pisses me off. Especially since a) these hypocrites are already getting medicare and don't want THEIR benefits cut and b) american tax payers are already subsidizing it in OTHER countries. I guess that makes me a "conservative socialist."

Like I said before there are many forms of conservatism, liberals, and socialism around the globe.
My fear is a radically conservative socialist i.e intolerance towards otherpeople, religions,art, etc.

No. While I personally disagree with many pillars of conservative philosophy, I can disagree with something without having a hang up about it (which seems to be problematic these days). Watching many on this website is like watching an out of control preschool class on recess.
