A large portion of the American populus think that by birthright they are entitled to the redistribution of anothers fruits. A group of individuals think that because they have not applied themselves, or because someone else is succesful, that somehow they are entitled to a portion of that person's wealth. Ergo they and we elect politicians to insure that a continual line is drawn that pits Americans against each other. They derive their power by perpetuating the myth of class envy, much as Lenin, Marx, etc did. They do not unite the country rather they divide it and have more than enough willing accomplices in the population at large, the media, and with their fellow (D)'s and (R)'s.
In a larger sense, we have failed ourselves by electing individuals who are not interested in minimal government and personal liberties. Because of the desire for more government freebies, and less reliance on our own abilities (really you could not save money form your check for retirement?), we have this mucked up system . . .and now it is financially broke

I don't know if you can say they have failed. Their objective has been to prevent the president from doing anything that would help the country. In that regard, they have succeeded.

Obama is so radical he can't get his own party behind his bills and just about every democrat in congress up for reelection is running from Obama and his policies.

Especially now since the GOP has changed the rules in the Senate and now anything must have 60 votes to pass. Mitch McConnel made it very clear when he said his number one priority was to make sure Obama is a one-term president. They don't care about jobs, they only care about grabbing more power for Republicans.

American people have failed by voting the republicans back in in 2010. Stupidity to the max. People need to realize that congress is elected by the American public. If congress fails, the public fails.

Every person elected to Congress is a representative of "We the people". When any would openly declare that they will ignore their responsibility to act in behalf of us and, instead, become a barrier to the functions of the U.S. Government, they need to be quickly

removed from office by their constituents or by impeachment, even indictment for sedition.

We have several such persons now impending the works of Congress, a sort of conspiracy of terrorists from within the very halls of the Capitol. Certainly there is a failure, a failure to deal with these conspirators appropriately. Didn't we once deal with a guy named Julius Roseberg who sought to impede the functions of our Government? Perhaps we should recall how the "Founding Fathers" dealt with such conspiracies?

the job of congress is to derive solutions. Solutions require commonsense compromise. Failure to one's job is grounds for dismissal.

Yes, I think they've failed because they're too busy playing partisanship rather than working with President Obama. Hopefully, the GOP will be voted out of office in November, and we'll be back on the right track.

Actually, he does stand a big chance. Because he's the incumbent now, he'll be even harder to defeat; especially now that Osama bin Laden is dead; the Iraq War is over; the economy is recovering; and troops are returning from Afghanistan.

Gas prices are going down, and the President has nothing to do with that. Also, you cannot have less government in a country with 300 million and counting people, especially when that nation is the breadbasket of the global economy. That's not feasible. We're not settlers out on the frontier anymore, and times have changed since the days of Washington and Jefferson. There's a global economy now; slavery is illegal; women are allowed to vote; and *gasp* minorities are actually considered people.
