The GOP is scared because they know they will lose in the General Election. They know that it is not fair that Warren Buffet's secretary pays more in taxes than he does!!
It's time for you BILLIONAIRES to pay your fair share, no more excuses!!!
Only President Obama is fighting for the middle class against the corrupt 1%
Republicans like Grover Norquist want to 'broaden the tax base' which means they want to balance the budget on the backs of the poor and the middle class!!!

Get your greedy hands OFF our Medicare and Social Security money!!
Guess what Republicans? Americans are not having it. They want fairer taxes and there's nothing you or Mitt Romney can do about it.

OBAMA 4 MORE YEARS

Billionaires are already paying 55% of their share in taxes. Read the news and do more research. I hope every single rich person leaves this country if Obama gets re-elected and see what happens, the middle class and the rich are supporting the 99%; millions of unemployed people, people on food stamps, illegals and the poor, since Obama has not been able to do anything for them, he has abandoned them and he is hosing the middle class and the rich.

Then the laws regarding the tax codes should be changed. If you had the same opportunity to pay a lesser tax tell me you wouldn't.

I agree -- they should. If I fell into a different bracket, then I'd be happy. As it is, I do have the opportunity to pay less in taxes. I've lived off of tips for the better part of a decade and I, unlike all but maybe two or three other people I've met, always claim all of the tips I make.

Do tell. Which investments' returns should be taxed at the regular income rate? Which returns should be taxed at the present rate?

Like I alluded to above -- anything that doesn't directly help our own economy -- foreign stocks and bonds shorting securities of any type come to mind. And that's just a start. The idea that investors wouldn't invest if they paid an extra few percentage points in taxes is crap, because the alternative is nothing. Invest and earn a return or don't invest and earn no return.

...or if the government takes more money from you you will have less to invest and will therefor get less of a return which means that you will have less to invest next time.

    See how counterproductive that is?

More money for our deficit and less to foreign governments and gambling for the sake of gambling.

...and less money for investors to invest in enterprises that would make money and pay taxes on that and hire people who would pay tax.

It makes more sense to grow our economy rather than shrink investment capital.

I'm more interested in our own government's revenue than foreign governments'.

As for home investment, it will happen if there's money to be made. If there's no money in the bottom, say, 80% of income earners, then there will be much less demand and investors will be relatively worse off. It's going to be the rare producer that hires people to make things anticipating that, while there's nobody who can afford the product now, the new employees will use their coming paychecks to buy the products.

You can defend supply side economics all you want, but you’re going to have to work pretty hard to convince me that on average producers will produce when there’s nobody there to buy.

how about we just go back to 37% like we had under Clinton... no? NO!

fine, then make it 70% like we had under Nixon or 90% like under Eisenhower.

Your talking about the top tax rate. I'm talking about Capital Gains tax. Two VERY different things. Capital gains is how Warren Buffet makes most of his income yet pays less taxes. Clinton LOWERED the Capitol gains Tax from 28% to 20%. Under Ike it was 25% and under Nixon it was 34.30%.

Bottom line: We can tax the wealthy at 100% and we would STILL have a deficit.

    See the problem?

we should put capital gains levels back to when Clinton took office too..

    OK. Real simple.

We need to close the deficit. We're spending more than we get in. This is why our credit rating was lowered which makes it more expensive to borrow the money we need to pay our commitments.

You're not really 52 are you? You're really in your early 20's, right?

    simple.. that's you.

i know how to close the deficit.. clinton knew how to close the deficit....

its the conservatives who don't know how to close the deficit...

let alone how deal with the debt.

Clinton sure did close the deficit. He drastically defunded the military and intelligence community, After 9/11 Bush had to build them up.
Clinton also had the dot com boom which poured trillions into the coffers.
The remainder of the debt was sold as short term bonds. Later on we had to pay for that.

If Clinton was so adept then why Bush inherit a recession from him?
  • lee fuzzy K... 2012/07/05 17:37:00

bush had to build them up????

are you forgetting the intel that was ON HIS DESK about a possible attack?

    yes you are.
  • fuzzy K... lee 2012/07/05 18:47:02
fuzzy Ken "In G-d We Trust"
Yes. What part of "Bush had to build them up" do you not understand?

Yes, the intel was on Bush's desk just like for the past 10 years every expert has said that it's not a question of if, but of when the next 9/11 size attack will happen.
There! Now you KNOW too. So tell us what kind of attack will it be? Most likely it won't be airplanes, but that's not assured. Where will it be?

Think about it: If you were POTUS and you KNEW an attack was imminent but no other details like how or where what would you do?
  • lee fuzzy K... 2012/07/05 18:55:17

i would have, for instance, not ignored it.

we had intel on the pilots

we had intel on the plan

we had intel on the method

we had war games going on the day of (simulating the very scenario)

this is GWB's failure, but not his biggest.

his biggest failure was to streatch our military capabilty out to its limits infront of the entire world.

for that I will NEVER forgive him.

I didn't say that they don't pay ANY taxes. I meant that they aren't affected like the middle/lower class citizens, in the way that they still have some extra money to burn. My family, on the other hand, uses up most of their money for bills, groceries, etc. We don't go out as much as we did a few years ago.

    You edited your original post.

My family pays more money for bills, groceries and insurance as well. The failed policies of Obama/Bush get the credit from me.

The past two years is greatest example of why we can't print money to spend our way out of recession. Our dollar is worth less than it was, pretty simple.

It's never been how much you make, it's always been how much you KEEP!

We get to keep less now.

...I edited my original post yesterday because I spelled something wrong. If you knew me, then you'd know that bad spelling is a pet peeve of mine. Another would be the people of the judgmental sort.

I agree that it's about how much we keep, but we were barely middle class as it was before the recession, so even then we didn't have much to keep. There's also inflation that eats away at the worthless dollar bill.

What gets me about Republicans is that they want the common people's taxes raised awhile theirs stay the same. They don't care if we're in financial trouble. If you think I'm pulling it out of my ass, I'm not. This subject was discussed in my government class a month ago.

By the way, the economy was bad before Obama; he inherited the problem.

In my state uber liberal governor Mark Dayton ran and was elected on raising taxes on the wealthy.

We were rewarded with property tax hikes of around 25% on average. The number of middle class home owners outnumber wealthy home owners at a clip over 100 to 1.

    Who got taxed?

Mr. Kasich's job approval rating has risen to a whopping 40%. He said he was going to get Ohioan jobs back, but the jobs that are open are for skilled workers, which only helps the right person. I give him credit for trying, but we still have one of the lowest unemployment rates.

He spent millions for the education system, which raised the people in the area's taxes, even if they didn't have kids that go to that school. Both my school and a neighboring school built new buildings, my parents had to pay additional taxes for BOTH schools.
