I would like single payer health care. I do not know how old you are but back in the 1970's to early 80's Blue Cross Blue Shield was the NON PROFIT provider for people. Insurance was affordable and it worked. Now we have a for profit system that does not work and the costs keep going up. Getting back to your question, as long as you have health care it is ok right?

Um no, half ass government health care is NOT okay, especially when no one will want to become a doctor or nurse anymore because their pay will inevitably drop.

Well, then I guess only the ultra rich will have health care because the middle class will not be able to afford it. I guess we will just have to die (death panel). New world class order.

You can't afford your present system, you spend 17% of your GDP on health care, vs. 6-11% in other Western countries which have universal health care.

I honestly feel so sorry for the American people in relation to their healthcare system. If anyone wants to explain it further to me and delve into the benefits one can receive that would be great. I've heard Australia has a pretty good healthcare system, even with insurance. I'd like to think everyone has access to healthcare when they hit rock bottom. What happens if one loses their job and basically everything? I know if that was me, I would hope to rely on benefits from the government. If I previously had a job, or couldn't physically work then I'm not ashamed to admit that.

Greece is in dire straits, we helped bail them out and one of the stipulations to us giving them the money was they had to revamp their national health care.....DUH. Canada is closing hospitals as they cant staff them, the UK has nurse patient ratios of 15/1, here in the states it is difficult with high acuity patients to do 5/1. You dont know of what you speak.

Greece has a hell of a lot more problems than health care. Look at Canada. People here in the US are getting perscriptions from them, saving big bucks.

What do I care? My wife is DEAD. it was our current for-profit, fee-fo-service "health care system" that KILLED her. My feeling anymore is that I'm perfectlycapable of dying on my own. I don't need the insult of having to PAY for it added to the injury of insurance malfeasance.

I am very sorry that you lost your wife,,,,that is a tragedy. However, I work for a not for profit hosp that wrote off 30 million last year...I wont even begin to tell you the waste I have seen. Illegal, drunk playing on railroad tracks, arm severed, 3 months in the hospital, 1 million dollar hospital bill which he laughed about.....how is that fair?

Well, my wife was an office nurse and surgical assistant in dermatology pracitces for 20 years and a natural diagnostician and healer. She caught Hep C in the days before universal precautions, ironic for her since she also ran a histology business that prepared the tissue samples used to originally isolate the AIDS virus. She was finally diagnosed in 98 and went through 2 years of Rebetron combination therapy which DIDN'T cure her genotype. What it DID do was cause her brain to produce a enzyme that produced all sorts of new, weak blood vessels at the capillary level in her eyes, driving her slowly blind, and her brain, causing literally thousands of strokes and finally leading to her death. Through the entire treatment, I HAD health insurance. When I got laid off and her COBRA ran out, I tried to get individual coverage for her only to have EVERY insurance co. hang up on me when I described her condiitions. I later found out that her liver specialist in Pasadena that Prescribed the treatment got a $1500/patient kickback from Schering-Plough, the pharmaceutical company that MADE the Rebetron and Riboviran. So what are MY remedies short of destroying Schering's Corporate HQ?

Your case is certainly a travesty, you should be incensed that illegals and others who have no insurance and cant afford to pay would have been able to receive treatment that your dear wife wasnt able to. Just shows the indiscretion in the system.

Or we could join the REST of the civilized, industrialized world and adopt a single-payer Universal Health Care system which Obama care isn't EITHER. As for illegals, my perspective is colored by my heritage as a fourth-generation Native Californio, my current residence in New Mexico and the fact that it was a member of MY family who actually CONQUERED Mexico in 1848. So , rather than keep them out, I think we should bring the US to THEM through the Constitutional process of Statehood. Either you believe in Democracy, the Rule of Law and individual rights or you don't.
