Republicans can come out of the woodwork saying that Democrats don’t understand that “raising children is work.” But they can’t truly say they value the work of raising and caring for children when they continue to push policies that undermine any monetary value to that work.

Unless women and their children can have affordable health care that isn’t dependent on employment — either theirs or their spouse’s — they don’t really believe mothers exclusively raising children are working.

Unless women can receive a check each week that is equivalent to the amount that they would have to pay a daycare provider to provide the same services — and at extended hours — they don’t really believe mothers are working.

Unless they are willing to give them social security benefits on their own versus through their spouses — or a pension, or even just funds that they can invest for their own retirement down the road — they don’t really believe mothers are working.

And unless they offer real child tax credits that actually come close to what the feeding, clothing and medical bills of a child are for a year — and that doesn’t max out if it’s more than your taxable income — they don’t really believe mothers are working.

Dear GOP, I’m glad to hear that you are the party that really understands that moms are working when they raise their children. I’m anxious to hear exactly how much you have decided to pay us for that work.

You don't have to buy into Obama's health care system. If you can afford your own health care, that is. If you can't, why don't you want health care paid for by your tax dollars? Why pay taxes if you aren't maximizing the services you obtain from them? I don't live in Florida, but Canadians make up only 2.1% of all immigrants coming into the United states. Far less than Mexico, Africa, the Caribbean, or China and only slightly higher than immigrants from the United Kingdom. And the Canadians who DO have the money to immigrate here are almost certainly wealth individuals who can afford their own health care (otherwise, they'd be SOL in the United States).

I do know who they are. And it is unfortunate they were in a situation like that, however, is it better to get free health care that takes six months (and is optional to those who can afford private healthcare) or to get no healthcare and die because you can't afford it?

Because I don't want poor people going COMPLETELY without healthcare? Do you realize how many Americans simply can't afford to see a doctor or purchase insurance? I happen to be one of them. I am a full time student, I work 35 hours a week, but I make minimum wage and therefore I cannot afford insurance. I'm sure you care little if anyone but your family or friends suffers and dies, but for people like Ozzie Osborne, insurance can be bought privately. For the people I know, it can't. I suppose there's nothing I can say to make you understand this reality.

And therein lies the problem. You think people choose to be poor. I'm sure you also believe people choose to be homosexual or black, or handicapped. This is absolutely irrational. Given the choice, no one would choose to be poor, homosexual, or handicapped. Circumstance has placed them in their position and as a humanist I see no reason to let them suffer further than they must.
You don't see that universal health care (at least according to Obama's plan) is only for those who can't afford private health care. In Canada, it is against the law to pay out of pocket for health care.

Life is not ONLY what you make of it. If I break both of your legs, steal all of your money, and frame you for muder is it your fault you're crippled, poor, and a prisoner? OF COURSE NOT. Rational agents have an affect on the lives of other rational agents. All it takes is one other person having a negative impact on your life to put you into a terrible situation. It is only through luck and the kindness of other individuals that you are in the position you are in today. If at any point in history, another individual have had a profound negative impact on the life of you or any of your ancestors or benefactors, you would not be using the internet right now. You might have never been born, or born in Somalia, fighting for your life. You think that you are entitled to your position from the choices you have made? You are expressing incredible hubris. Your position in life has so little to do with your own choices and actions. You can make all the right choices and still find yourself impoverished, and others can make terrible choices and still be rich as a result of family or luck.
As far as Death Panels, that is a piece of conservative propaganda. Obama has never proposed anything resembling a death panel. If you want to spout nonsense, at least provide a source so I can discredit you.

Still, doesn’t that just validate what the law’s critics have always said, that the administration was playing games to hide the program’s true impact on the deficit? Hardly. Remember, this is just the raw cost of expanding insurance coverage we’re talking about here—in other words, the money the federal government is sending out the door. The new law also calls for new revenue, in the form of taxes and penalties. It also reduces spending, mostly through Medicare, to help offset the cost of the coverage expansion. When the Affordable Care Act became law, CBO estimated that the net result of all these changes, taken together, would be to reduce the deficit. Now, with this revised estimate, CBO has decided the law will reduce the deficit by even more money.

I'm not a Ron Paul supporter but, it is very hard to stomach reading criticism of Ron Paul from a guy that supports a murdering Commy piece of crap like Che Guevara. Get your head out of your butt and maybe your criticism of Ron Paul might mean something to somebody with a brain and a conscience. What do you think Che Guevara and the Communists in Cuba did to homosexuals there? We could probably come up with a list ten times as long as your list about Ron Paul of the real atrocities perpetrated by the Communists in Cuba, many of which were done by Che Guevara personally.

If you don't like what I have to say then move along. Nobody likes a whiner.

Che and a group of revolutionaries overthrew the Military Dictatorship of Batista, who was installed and supported by the US, US Corporations, and the Mafia. He went on to help other countries do the same. He was hunted down and killed in Bolivia by a CIA trained hit squad with CIA personnel present.

But the story doesn't end there. Because of people like Che Guevara, the US lost its grip on Latin America and most of the countries that once had dictators now have Social Democracies.

One thing I can say about your description of Che Guevara - You have given me a reason to laugh. The Bautista regime n't much better than Castro's but Fidela was a dictator of the worst sort and Guevara has a lot of Cuban blood on his hands. They did what most despotic leaders do, they replace bad government with something that is much worse. History proves that. If Castro and his band of thugs were doing such a great job, 10's of thousands of Cubans would not being trying to get out of Cuba.

As far as the United States government, US corporations and the Mafia working in consort to set up the Bautista regime to enslave Cuban people - that is the laughable part.

The fact that he was hunted down and killed - chock up 1 for the good ole U.S.A. I heard he died screaming like a girl.

The fictionalized account of Christ's death wasn't even written until many years after his death.

The gospels tell us that Jesus was crucified during the time of Pontius Pilate, who governed Judea between 26 CE and 36 CE. Tradition generally holds that Jesus died either 30 CE or 33 CE.

The first gospel to be written, the Gospel According to St. Mark, is believed by most scholars to have been written around 70 CE. Matthew followed, probably in the eighties, then Luke and John.

The Epistles of St. Paul are generally believed to have been written in the fifties, but may have been somewhat earlier. Hebrews and possibly some of the other epistles may also have preceded the New Testament gospels.
