You know, what's the point of voting something down 31 or more times? It's a play for attention and it's stupid. They know the Senate will never vote it down and even if that happened the President would veto it. So rather than take some of the real issues facing this country the GOP chooses to waste their time and ours with this ridiculous display of childish behavior. Get over it and move on.
I think he's an idiot, as much as think Rush Limbaugh is an idiot. I like some of his guests though. The problem is both are too extreme. I hate how Maher always makes fun of Christians.
Wonder if he would have thought the same thing about the Boston Tea Party...I think Maher would have been a spy for the Redcoats back in the day..complete traitor
Bill Maher's one of the most disgusting people on TV. I can't think of anything I agree with him on, certainly not this. If I found I was in agreement with him on anything I'd have to go back and rethink my position.
The only reason I have ever watched more than a few moments is when he had Christopher Hitchens on to make him and his other lefty guests look like tools. He even spanked Maher's audience in one episode. Now that was funny.
yeah, the so called do nothing congress right? How many budgets has the house passed only to be denied a vote by prince harry? The truth will set you free carol
Perhaps the truth will set you free also. Scores of House Republicans deserted their leadership to vote against the bill, which cut $38 billion in spending, saying it did not go far enough. As a result, Speaker John A. Boehner was forced to rely on large numbers of Democrats to pass the measure, which subsequently sailed through the Senate, 81 to 19. It went to President Obama for his signature.
Over the last several days, House Republican leaders repeatedly defended the bill, the product of a bipartisan compromise last week less than two hours before the government would have shut down. They said that while it fell short of their goal of cutting $61 billion from spending this year, it nonetheless established the principle that the budget would have to be substantially reined in.
“Is it perfect?” Mr. Boehner said, in his final appeal to members on the House floor. “No. I’d be the first to admit it’s flawed. But welcome to divided government.”
The House vote was 260 to 167, with 59 Republicans breaking ranks to vote against the deal. The large number of defections highlighted the challenge facing Mr. Boehner as he tiptoes between conservatives who ran on a shake-it-up agenda and the limitations of what the House can do when Democrats control the Senate and the White House.
i couldn't agree more
