Being an Army Aviator is dangerous work no matter what you fly or where you fly it. Any man or woman that has the courage and talent to fly a helicopter is a hero no matter what and that service should never be disparaged!

So, this is what the Republican party has succumbed to- those who would degrade a true hero, who paid with the loss of her legs. Did John McCain stand up against this? Did any of the so called "patriotic" GOTPers? How shameful this party has become.

A hero is anyone who conscientiously fights only to defend human rights and nothing more. Is that what Tammy Duckworth was doing; is that what John McCain was doing; or were they both simply following orders to kill? If all you do is follow orders to kill, without regard to why or what end, you're not a hero, you're a tool.

She has something you never will. She has earned my respect.

There wasn't a medium choice, so I chose what I chose. being a double-amputee doesn't make you a hero, what you did to BECOME a double amputee may or may not, but being one, in itself, doesn't confer that distinction upon you.

This made her the first female double amputee from the Iraq war. The explosion also "almost completely destroyed her right arm, breaking it in three places and tearing tissue from the back side of it. Duckworth received a Purple Heart on December 3 and was promoted to Major on December 21 at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where she was presented with an Air Medal and Army Commendation Medal."
